Really cool video Winslow! I love this tuning and I'm working on it to get the best out of it! So fun to see new options getting on the market! Take care and keep the good stuff! 🤜 🤛
The bigger holes might help, but ultimately every player needs to be able to play single notes on their desired instrument. If that's diatonic, then learning on this one will still leave them with difficulties getting single notes on diatonic, so on balance, I'd recommend just digging in on that instrument.
QUESTION - I've been looking for a standard-tuned (NOT blues) VALVELESS chromatic harmonica in the keys of G or any other EXCEPT C (which I already have way too many). Are all of the Trochilus chromatics sold on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc. ONLY in blue tunings??? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, I missed seeing and answering this. Yes, the Trochilus with the yellow comb is in solo tuning like a standard chromatic: www.amazon.com/JDR-Trochilus-Chromatic-Chromonica-Professionals/dp/B0CSXZ3NR6/ref=sr_1_2?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.YMpkR_krqD9lbV5csalsYQl6V1nyEevDJeiN8TyNK2A.W6951rKJfiIlmGNI5JuPCWBgUkZ7CgXA7b_B1h2TjGs&dib_tag=se&keywords=JDR%2BTrochilus&qid=1733185595&sr=8-2&th=1
Thanks! I don't have any of the solo-tuned Trochilus, but I do have some of my own chromatics in C6 tuning, which I like. JDR also offers the half-valved Quartz model in C6, and I do have one of those. That tuning has a number of desirable characteristics: It gives you an A minor blue chord in addition the the D minor draw chord, and those two chords have a very strong relationship. And, just as both C and F are available both slide-in and slide-out in opposite breath directions (choice notes - you can choose which to use in any given situation) you now also have A and Bb as choice notes.

THANKS FOR DOING THIS NOT GOT ONE OF THESE YET WILL HAVE TO GET SOME OF THEM 😎
Do you think this harmonica would be a lot easier for beginners to play single notes?

What are your thoughts on the C6 tuned Trochilus? I just ordered my third; the last a B flat in Pop. I really enjoy your videos.
