Because they were sued out of existence. Mcdonaldland was basically a carbon copy of a Sid Marty Krofft TV show called HR pufnstuf. The Krofft Brothers sued and won.

those terrifying, terrifying monsters they called and I quote 'happy' that have replaced Ronald are terrifying. and to make it even worse, their canonically friends with the minions. I swear, I'm going to by up the old, retired characters and save them from the legacy of being in the despicable me 'franchise'!
@@BNWOCHUD The Minions definitely overstay their welcome in terms of the marketing, but I don't take the blame on the Despicable Me film franchise for that. The reason why Ronald McDonald got replaced by that "Happy" character is due to the clown sightings trend on the Internet became a huge deal in the US in 2016.
The McDonaldland Ads are definetly for kids eyes, seeing this as an adult is really scary to be fair! 😂 I won't recommend this for people on drugs as well! 😂
What happened to all the creativity? Nowadays it's just fast food companies trying to make as much money as possible with little budget costs from commercials
To be fair Mcdonaldland was not creativity..but rather the result of them copyright infringing the design and character construction inherent in Sid and Marty Krofts H.R Puff N Stuff. After a deal fell through Mcdonalds went through with deeboing the goods and using them to advertise a.k.a 'brainwash' young children.
.....are you joking? They were literally sued, successfully, for ripping off HR Pufnstuf Like did you seriously think this was both original, *and* was done for fun and artistic reason, and not trying to make as much money as possible?
Those marketing campaings had a lot of budget. That is why they aged better than say other companies from the same era that had lower budgets for marketing.
This old country really needs more commercials with apple pie trees, thick shake volcanos French fry trees mr Big Mac and mr big cheese. More great fun Macdonald commercials.
McDonalds 1970= let's make a mini storyline about Ronald McDonald and his mcbuddies going on random adventures to advertise food for kids McDonalds now= let's advertise food by making celebrity meals
I knew about the Sid and Marty Krofft lawsuit, but didn't really understand it until I saw these first commercials; it really does look imitative of HR Pufnstuf.
I’ve came up in the late 1970s when McDonald’s was still advertising these commercials featuring Ronald McDonald because I do not remember these earlier commercials because I was then a baby coming in the world at that time and today none of these characters are no longer in the commercials anymore since they had taken them all out of service because Ronald McDonald and his friends had seen better days now but the business still lives on but the childhood memories will always be remembered.
Remember when Ronald McDonald would come to your local McDonald's, and the restaurant was jam packed with excited kids holding "Hi Ronald" signs? Me neither.
Anyone know who narrated some of those commercials? The "said Ronald" ones. Sounds like a take-off of Pete Smith who narrated all those "Pete Smith Specialty" shorts that MGM used to make in the 1930's and 40's.
It does sound cheap, true, but to be fair, $50 cents was probably a weeks worth of pocket money back then. For context a regular burger back then would have costed roughly 20-25 cents. Nowadays a regular burger costs about at least a dollar or two.
Now you should make a video of all the other McDonald’s commercials including the ones with only Ronald Mcdonald ones, the ones that feature the characters outside of McDonaldland and all of the others
Let me know if you're able to find it - I'm considering putting together an updated version of this compilation (this one is missing many commercials).

Because unfortunately souless design and pandering is more cost effective :C It's sad honestly

These 70s McDonalds ads are charming and chill nice change of pace from modern ads.
That first one is so hippy like.
I mean it was made in the 70s
