I just bought the Dilettante Plus after my 17 year old Silvia finally died. My first few shots tasted under extracted and sour. I found that my old Rocky grinder was not giving me a fine enough grind. After cleaning my grinder and replacing the burrs, I got great tasking espresso! The Silvia also took 20 to 30 minutes to heat up, so that wasn’t as issue for me. This machine was a good fit for me as I didn’t want to spend the extra money on a dual boiler machine, but I wanted to get away from the temperature surfing I’d been doing for 17 years with Ms. Silvia. So far, I really like this machine and I’m very happy with my purchase.
You forgot to mention this, but the Bello’s PID turns into a shot timer as soon as the lever is pulled, so you don’t need to have a scale with a shot timer. I have the Bello+ and love it! 👍👍
