You know, now that you mention it, it'd be terrifying if wild animals could have Semblances. What if a raccoon's going through your trash or something, and when you try to scare it off, it just starts shooting fire balls.
That sounds hilarious, but you can rest: apparently it's really hard for animals to unlock aura, and they should almost always need the help of humans in doing so.
I would totally go around unlocking aura in wild animals.
...Well, they do have auras... so they probably can use dust and semblances...

Yeah it’d be interesting if they looked into how that works. Like if that’s what some huntsman do when they retire they train animals to use aura to help other Huntsman. The going theory with Zwei Is Their dad got him for the girls after their incident with the beowolves.

-Best Friend his family
-compact, perfect for travel
-Melter of hearts
-finder of dumb places to urinate
-nod to space bounty hunters
-also a gun

Fun fact: Oobleck tells Blake to "Detach the caboose, it will kill us all!" Oobleck's voice actor is widely known for playing Caboose in Red vs Blue, another Rooster Teeth series.

That's cos Neo outclasses literally all of Team RWBY in combat. From what we've seen she's one of the best fighters in the show.
Agility wise, as well as combat skill, power not so much

Zwei has an aura. He can survive inside a small compact container, understands orders (one bark means yes), and merely bounced when rwby tossed him up from falling last chapter. Zwei seems very well trained as dog owned by a family of nothing but huntsmen.
Zwei is their father's dog, and it's assumed that their father would have unlocked Zwei's Aura, and subsequently his Semblance. Because of this, Zwei can survive a lot, while other dogs may not, if their Aura wasn't unlocked by someone like Pyrrah unlocked Jaune's Aura.
my theory is that after Yang's whole "wagon incident", their father trained their dogs to protect his daughters.
Zwei might be their 2nd dog, hence the name "two"
Belrevan actually its zwei because its a reference for the dog eins in cowboy bebop.
Zwei is a hunting dog, which is why Oobleck was soo thrilled by him. A very useful thing for a huntress/huntsman to bring on a hunt.

Zwei's survival is probably more a function of Oobleks weapon, and not any special ability of Zwei

As of this point, we do not know if Summer is dead. The block is a memorial, not a grave marker.

Yup, Zwei has an aura, which protected him from the fire and impact from Oobleck and the Atlesian Paladin

Eric is right that Zwei has an aura and that would allow him to protect himself from harm (which, as a side note, also explains why Zwei can be shipped around in a package). In addition to this, people are able to infuse their aura into their weapons, so it is very possible that Dr. Oobleck infused his power into Zwei to make him the hardest hitting ammunition possible. As well as setting on fire.
Mary Poppins (who's name is Neo) is my favorite character in the series lol she owned Yang in her own style of fighting nonetheless!
I love that she has so much swagger and we can get such a feel for her attitude without her ever having to say a word.

If you guys recall, Penny is the only functional robot with an Aura. So robot dogs with Aura are not possible yet.

To be fair, this is the classic ''Our heroes have a long way to go'' episode for Team RWBY. You know, showing the audience how much they will need to improve by letting them fight villains way above their level. They are still first year students after all.
There is an after credits scene in the next episode. And Summer Rose is dead. Raven Branwen vanished.
EDIT: Also remember that Zwei is the family pet from a household entirely composed of Huntsmen and Huntresses. That dog is going to have some serious training and most likely his aura unlocked.
I said this on the early access, and it is worth mentioning again.
I just want to point out the following :
1. Torchwick's plan got launched early (stated in this episode).
2. Team RWBY has only been out 1 night.
3. Team RWBY ran out of time to stop the Train, so they chose survival rather than a futile attempt to stop the train
4. Zwei is the most OP character in the show.
5. You’ve now seen everything they revealed in the Yang vs Tifa Death Battle
Animals do have aura, Pyrrha says so while unlocking Jaune's Aura in the first episodes, but it prob is rare to unlock naturaly, but probaly possible if a human helps them to unlock :3

So I got my favorite Blind Wave reaction series, reacting to my favorite episode of Volume 2, on my birthday. I Love strange coincidences.

I don't think so. I just watched the scene where Yang talks to Blake in the classroom. Yang talks about her mom and mentions Qrow, but never says her name. Do you know when her name was said any other time?
Volume 3 is when they say her name.

It's funny. Torchwick is one of the top 5 tallest characters in the show, and Neo is by far the smallest. So the criminal duo just accent the differences even more when they stand next to each other.
I loved the reaction to the "flaming Zwei attack". Priceless!
theres a lot of detail put into these fights if you watch it again neo does very little damage to yang to avoid activating her semblance only redirecting her attacks to waste her energy
I love how they establish Neo as a Huntsmen-Killer class opponent early on. Yang didn’t land a single hit, their entire fight was just Neo flexing on her.
This entire set piece is kind of a “Show that our main cast aren’t Mary Sues” bit, but it’s super fun.
Be sure to stick around for the after credit scene in Chapter 12.

Blake doesn’t have two semblances. Weiss gave Black dust bullets which she shoots when she uses her semblance to leave behind her normal shadow self encased in a elemental dust.
My favorite episode of this Volume! I can't wait until you catch up, although that'll be after Volume 4 is done releasing sadly.
You guys should totally watch the Yang vs Tifa Death Battle once you finish volume 2. I know you guys have been holding back on that since you were afraid of spoilers but don't worry they only cover the things from volume 1 and 2 :)
Maybe it's just me but Oobleck's weapon looks like a weaponized tiki torch to me.

You guys are so close to volume 3! The best season of RWBY so far, although volume 4 is pretty good so far. And something i think you should know is that monty died right before volume 3 started so the fights are not as good but around ep 5 they get better

There are lots of theories about Zwei, one fanfiction author thought that when Ruby and Yang were kids they gave Zwei dust coated dog food and basically made him a super dog, which would make sense since he is pretty much invincible

But it needs to be unlocked, animals wouldn't be able to naturally unlock their own aura, even humans aren't able to without specific conditions and training
Darkus Cyril Pyrrha showed us that each person can unlock another's aura. The reason to say that the same can't be said about pets. If I had a pet in world fall of evil monster's out for mankind and all it holds dear, I'd open the forcefield around Mr. Whiskers too.
Yea, but who knows the specifics of it,all we see if someone trained unlocking another's aura, we don't know the specifics of how it's done so maybe Ruby and Yang unlocked Zwei's aura, maybe they didn't. We won't really know until RT explains why Zwei is the super dog he is
