Marceline is one of the best characters in the entire show. Complex, stylish, has character development and has a sad past that reflects on her growth.
its such a small portion of her story but the implications of the fact that marceline was born before the mushroom war drives me INSANE. like...she couldn't have possibly been able to live a normal life, even back then, because she obviously wasn't completely human at a time when most everyone didn't believe that could even be POSSIBLE. did she ever go to school? did she ever see a doctor? I doubt she was born in a hospital--did she have any official records at all? I'd do literally ANYTHING to see more of elise's story and how the hell she got herself into all this in the first place.

Marcelines backstory is so heartbreaking, it hurts just thinking about it She even was a child when all of this happening, she probably didnt know much about what's happening and in Simon and Marcy, he said '7 year old girl' so marcy was only seven, SEVEN! Making songs was just her way of coping with what situations she has been through I'm happy with her getting with Bubblegum, it made her soft and comfortable around her and that's a good thing, bubbline is a really healthy couple :) Marcy is just a baddie and she really an artist (well music artist) I also realised that in season 2,Marcy knew Bonnie's name before anyone else, so there was a connection in season 2! Also when PB met Marceline in Season 2 and was basically mad and annoyed at Marcy, what did Bonnie feel wearing the shirt? Edit:Oh thanks for the Likes guys!
Marcelline will always be special to me because I've always had issues communicating effectively with my father and have spent a very long part of my life wondering if he even loved or cared about me. It seemed like every time we talked, he's get angry with me for no reason and would snap at me, but then everyone around me would tell me to apologize to him even though I was just a little kid. Caused a lot of problems when I was younger because I felt I couldn't tell my father anything without making him lose his temper. Now that I'm older, I understand that he does truly love me and is the product of an abusive household, but he's getting better at controlling his anger and understanding that he's not in that same vulnerable state anymore. Seeing Marcelline reconcile (kinda) with her dad gave me hope that I could do the same, and I did!

It's think it's really sad we don't know know what happened to Marcies Mum, we know she died probably, but did Marcie ever go back to the garage, did she fine her body? Did she bury her? What did her Dad think of it all, how is Hunson her dad? Mostly the immediate aftermath of the war, and her mother dying.
I love talking about Hudson and Marceline's relationship ahsundtj (Ahem, little /pos rant below 👇) Hudson doesn't have a sense of morality because he's primordial, he doesn't need to have one when everyone and everything to him is just a vessel to further himself, his power, or to entertain himself with, which is just one of the many curses of being immortal; you literally don't give a fuck and can quite literally do whatever you want. You just don't have empathy for those around you, and you're selfish to the highest degree. So it's so interesting to see how much he actually cares about Marceline, from an immortal being standpoint. It's actually pretty heartwarming how much he actually values Marceline when you think about it; he genuinely seems to respect Marceline's boundaries even if she has to explain them to him a lot, and has shown remorse for his actions when they affect her and has sincerely expressed his affection and love for her multiple times, which is pretty rare for any immortal creature. Hudson would be an amazing father if he'd just had the perspective of a mortal being, he (most likely) wouldn't do all the things that we as an audience see as problematic if he had the ability to understand things outside his own worldview. All in all, good writing. It's hard to write a character like Marceline's Dad, and I really think AT pulled it off.

I love talking about Hudson and Marceline's relationship ahsundtj
(Ahem, little /pos rant below 👇)
Hudson doesn't have a sense of morality because he's primordial, he doesn't need to have one when everyone and everything to him is just a vessel to further himself, his power, or to entertain himself with, which is just one of the many curses of being immortal; you literally don't give a fuck and can quite literally do whatever you want. You just don't have empathy for those around you, and you're selfish to the highest degree.
So it's so interesting to see how much he actually cares about Marceline, from an immortal being standpoint. It's actually pretty heartwarming how much he actually values Marceline when you think about it; he genuinely seems to respect Marceline's boundaries even if she has to explain them to him a lot, and has shown remorse for his actions when they affect her and has sincerely expressed his affection and love for her multiple times, which is pretty rare for any immortal creature. Hudson would be an amazing father if he'd just had the perspective of a mortal being, he (most likely) wouldn't do all the things that we as an audience see as problematic if he had the ability to understand things outside his own worldview.
All in all, good writing. It's hard to write a character like Marceline's Dad, and I really think AT pulled it off.
