One of my carpentry buddies talked me into going to the Grizzly factory in Pa to buy a cabinet table saw 10-12 yrs ago. Best decision I ever made. I don’t know about their economy products but their professional lines are fabulous and not outrageously expensive.
I purchased this saw a couple of months ago. It's a good option for me for what I need it for. I didn't want to spend close to 1k for me to use it once every 4-6 months.

I bought this track saw about a year ago. I could not find any youtube videos for it within the last 5 years. I have had all the same issues you had talk about in the video and I also had to send back the first saw itself since the riving knife was bent and did not line up with the blade. Lots of quality control issues. Thanks for making this review!
I almost bought this saw a year ago... but exact same as you, I could not really find many reviews. Happy to see this review, and happy I passed on it!
I had the same riving knife problem. But I just took it off and flattened it on an anvil with a ball peen hammer. Simple fix... but I agree that it shouldn't have been necessary.
Another budget saw to consider for review is the Masterforce track saw from Menards. Masterforce tools don't get reviewed often since they are only at Menards which is a midwest thing.

@@franzlemus9956not at all. Masterforce is equivalent to a Hitachi or Bosch. The problem isn't quality, the problem is that their Masterforce power tools are usually too expensive. You can get Milwaukee or Dewalt for the same price.
I was looking at this saw about 10 years ago when I was first looking to get a track saw. This saw is a rebranded saw that can be purchased under at least 4 other names. There is a video on you tube about some mods to make it work better. In the end I purchased a Makita corded track saw, not cheap but cheaper than the Festool (which I really wanted), in the end I love my Makita.

As part of your review, I'd suggest that you contact them about the splinter strips. Show us how they were to deal with while requesting new splinter strips under warranty.
Those may have been messed up by the rough handling of the shipper, but I agree that once stuck, they should have stayed stuck.
I'm the proud (?) owner of a 1998 G1023z cabinet saw that I stole off of Facebook market place. I call it Tablesaur because it is big, old, and with 5hp single-phase power, more than a little scary.
I also own these Grizzly products. Both of which I happy to own.

You get what you pay for. This would be a good saw for construction site sheet breakdown or concrete form work (I like straightly cut concrete forms). I bought the version Grizzly had back in 2016 after trying and returning the Dewalt track saw which did not impress. The one I have uses the same 160mm blades as Festool. As with many saws, the blade that came with it was poor, but a good quality blade for ripping and another for cross cuts makes all the difference. Especially if you want to rip thick hardwoods. I replaced the return spring in mine as it was hard to plunge and that makes it much easier to use. I have 2 55" tracks and one 28". Initially one of the tracks just didn't quite align exactly right. I called grizzly and they sent out new tracks which the tech said he would personally check out. Got them in a few days and no problems since. It's not the most powerful saw and there are now lots of other options out there, but if you are willing to put up with some tweaks you can get these budget friendly saws to do the job for you.
Thank you for reviewing this. It is the video I have been waiting for. The problem I saw when I was thinking of getting it was finding the 6 1/4 inch blades for it. I found a lot of 6 1/2, but couldn't find any 6 1/4. I liked the price for just cutting down plywood. I forgot to write this part earlier. I have several Grizzly tools. Their customer service is outstanding. If you would have reached out to their customer service, I am sure they would have replaced the parts that were not right.
I got the Kreg and have been very pleased with it so far. I only need for occasional cuts I can't make on the Table Saw. Breaking down sheet goods, mobile etc. Was $399 = Saw and 62" Track. Great content! Been subbed for some years now! Couldn't Justify Milwaukee or Festool, as much as I love them. Peace from Rhode Island
Hi Matt, great review as usual! Just as a future note, what I would really like you to review from Grizzly is the G0940 Benchtop Planer w/ Helical Cutterhead. At $750 (plus $60 for shipping) a good price for a planer with a helical cutter head. I've seen it go on sale for $675, being soooooo close to the Dewalt that if the Grizzly is any good really needs to be under consideration.

I was going to buy the DW735 and a helical cutter head a few days ago... it was time to upgrade from my DW734. I ended up buying the Craftex cousin of the Grizzly planer you just cited - they talked me out of the DW735 and helical combo and I wondered if I made a good decision or not. I got it $200 off and paid $699 CDN for it.
I unboxed it and put it through its paces this afternoon and was shocked at how quiet it is compared to the three knife DW734. No TH-cam video could have prepared me for that. Super pleasant surprise. I ran maple and purpleheart through it and it worked like a champ.
Only negative so far? The non carbide cutters in it only have two cutting surfaces (can't use all four sides)... but I did pick up carbide cutters to replace the OEM ones when they wear. I'll have to see if THEY allow for use on all four edges.
Anyway, first Impression is: I don't regret the purchase. I saved a few bucks and was able to buy the carbide cutters and an extra SawStop brake... it'll be interesting to see what Matt has to say one day!
I can vouch for the G0940 amazing machine and in my opinion much better bang for the buck over the DeWalt
I have gotten a couple grizzly tools. The cast iron top on my table saw sinks in in the middle where the blade is. So it’s harder to get a square cut. The miter slots are humped from front to back. The fence on my 8” joiner isn’t flat from side to side. They definitely really need to update their quality control. They do have great customer service though.
The splinter guard falling off was the only issue I had with my grizzly track saw , this being my 1st track saw I didn’t have any others to compare it to, but I did replace it with a festool TS55 track saw recently in a past few years and I definitely like the festool better . I do own other grizzly products that I am happy with
I am going on 4yrs woodworking I purchased the accu-cut from Kreg with a circular saw from H.F. used that for almost 3yrs saved money and waited and finally got the TS 60 tracksaw and it was worth the wait.
Going to watch the rest of this after getting out of bed. Initial thought: prices for the tracks of Festool and Bosch (I have Bosch tools and batteries so considering their tracksaw) are around the $200 dollar mark just for the tracks! If the Griz tracks can be used for the Bosch (in my case), just buy this unit for the tracks and get a bonus tracksaw...regardless of the quality...(haven't seen the final verdict on whether its good yet...). Their splinter guard really sucks right off the box, and when you add dust from the shop... mine fell off after a few months. The other issue I found with this saw is the blade size. Hard to find a good replacement. Other than that, it works just fine for what I need.
I bought this saw for the price point about 18 months ago. I was starting my kitchen and really needed to be able to make long straight cuts to breakdown sheet goods. All of the issues you have with it I had the same ones. The unstuck strip I literally laughed out loud when I saw yours show up exactly the same way. When my box arrived one of the tracks was sticking a few inches out of the box. Over all the saw has done exactly what I needed, but even at the budget price point I think they could do better. Also when I bought mine they were coming with 2 longer tracks which has been nice. Good review, I wish someone had reviewed it a couple years ago.
Bought a dust collector from them. It had QA and electrical issues. Customer service was top notch but I still had to ship it back to them. They sent it back ready to work. It’s been amazing since

I had loose splinter guard and sliding rubber rail on a backup 110” Powertec rail set to augment my Makita saw and rails to do some really long final cuts I have on a flooring project in the house. Hit them up with a heat gun to soften and better adhere before I made that first cut. My Makita track saw is one of only 3 shop apprentices (track saw, jointer, planer) since I’m 95% hand tools; I’m sure it doesn’t get the work most of the folks on here get. It get used more for home improvement projects than anything, but maybe my experience in saving a set of ‘sleepy’ adhesive might help one of you all. Probably a total lost cause if you don’t catch things before sawdust gets near it.
I 'discovered' Grizzly tools several months ago and was in the market for a small band saw. I ordered it and when it arrived, there was a fork hole right in the middle of the box. Upon inspection, the saw was damaged to the point that it wouldn't work. I found several parts that were damaged or destroyed. When I called Grizzly and was connected to their parts department, the guy was super friendly and took down a list of all the parts I needed to get my saw working. He gave me a timeframe of 5 to 7 days for my parts to arrive. On the 8th day, I went on their website and added to my ticket asking where my parts were. A week later I received the parts. (I don't think they actually sent me the parts til I complained about their timelines a week later). I will probably never buy anything from them again, especially after your similar box damage and internal damage (or company negligence, TBD) . Anyways, I like their tool design. I think their build quality could be improved much, however. Tool engineering and their parts department is good I think, but they need to pay closer attention in their packing department, shipping, and assembly.
A track saw or small bandsaw isn't a good representation of what Grizzly is about. I have a G0766 lathe, it is extremely impressive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy shop equipment from them
@@paulhopkins1905 If they aren't all about the products as we Woodworkers buy them, THEY ARE NOT WORTH EVEN THE DISCOUNTED PRICES. Sloppily built tools, which are dangerous when made properly, are not going to appear on the thinking Woodworkers' work bench. You think a large is a better representation of grizzly, stay away from the bandsaw & circular saw. Think about it.

@@paulhopkins1905 so it seems like their lower end tools, like my budget-friendly band saw and the reviewed budget-friendly track saw, are receiving less attention and care, where as per your experience, the higher end equipment obviously is better quality all around. This leads me to believe that either Grizzly needs to do better with their budget-friendly line of tools, or stop making lower end tools. I'm glad you've had a good experience with Grizzly, but bad first impressions of a company can be a deal-breaker for me. When corroborating stories appear that fall in line with my recent bad experience? Well. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice.... There is no fooling me twice. No one gets to fool me twice. I just don't give that company any more of my money.
The saw is just a rebrand budget saw. I bought it a few years ago and used it a lot. I recently bought a makita to replace it and gave the grizzly away.
I have this same saw and it came in the box just fine and no damage. From what I see from other having damage, it might be the carrier and how it is handled. But I did have to make a few minor adjustments like most tools and the only thing I had trouble with is the blade. Poor quality on the blade and dulled pretty fast. I had ordered a new blade off of Amazon and had no problems since. I like it and have no issues.

no longer get them, the saw is loud but then again it has its place in homeowner or DIY projects. $229 vs $1,000 I'm ok

I was considering the Grizzly track saw but I found a good deal on a corded Dewalt track saw on ebay. The Dewalt did what I needed and seems to be a great tool. I have never been disappointed with Dewalt
These hand tools I do not think are Grizzly’s mainstay. They carry them to provide a full line. Their main line of products are the larger tools, and yes that is cabinet saws, but even the larger tools for commercial and industrial. This quality control probably came out of China. I wouldn’t base Grizzly quality based on this tool, as a lot of people like their larger bandsaws, cabinet saws, and lathes.
I like Grizzly tools and have several in my shop. Full disclosure, I live near Springfield, MO where one of their showrooms is located and I'm in there at least once a month if not more. That said, Grizzly can be a little hit-and-miss on some of their tools. I've found that their larger tools (table saws, lathes, bandsaws, etc...) are very good. However, I have not been that impressed with their handheld power tools due to the lack of quality control. I've often eyed the Grizzly tracksaw, but haven't pulled the trigger due to the aforementioned quality control on Grizzly hand power tools. I also see 2 or 3 sets of tracks in Grizzly's scratch and dent room due to damage in shipping or other issues such as the splinter guard. Thanks for the review!

I'm using the milescraft saw system with a Dewalt corded saw and I absolutely love it. Can't see me using an actual tracksaw. Love these reviews regardless!
This saw is a sibling of the "Shop Fox" saw that Grizzly offered for sale, at one time. The detractions pointed out in the video were the same issues I had with the Shop Fox
I bought a Grizzly 12 inch jointer planer and it performs well I think, so long as you try to avoid plaining hickory. I dropped the cut as low as I could go and planed in cool weather, and the motor still shut off repeatedly, requiring a few minutes before you could start again. I messed up the safety gate spring also, but I caused that I guess.
Thank you for the video as I am looking for a track saw. I would like to see you replace the stock blade with an affordable quality blade and use the same blade on each saw. I've had several small 18V saws that failed to make cuts, but were utterly transformed when I replaced the blade with a thin kerf Diablo blade. An affordable quality blade made all the difference in the world. Thx!
Try switching the blade, I put a premium blade on mine and did a bunch of beveled cuts on 8/4 maple and had no problem
Thanks for the comparisons. I've been using the Bosch corded track saw for a few years and like everything about it. Milwaukee track didn't exist when I was buying.
I have this! But bought it a year ago...when it still only had two longer tracks ...much better... I've never used any other track saw...but for long pieces its much more convenient than a table saw and therefore provides better results...and using 1 track is pretty damn good for shorter cuts too... i have been super happy with it...its bot perfect...but it is worth every penny and easily the best for the money... I've cut 2 inch think bowling alley with tons of nails...no problem at all...with the stock blade. 1 caveat...the blade is a 6.25...so you have to buy a special blade... and the arbor is a strange size, so you can't fit most blades.
I ordered a WEN track saw a couple years ago from amazon. The base on the saw was not flat so I returned it and got a Makita. The WEN is a great price but I’m not sure about the QC.
I'm a Grizzly fan but your review really helped. I have been thinking of buying the Grizzly track saw but glad I put it off. I don't need one but I'm one of those that buy tools just to have it, just in case. I do not like a tool I need to fight with with. I liked your review.

Good review of this budget track saw. I own the Makita 36v and 110v track saws. From my perspective, it makes no sense to shell out on a saw that struggles with a single sheet of 19mm plywood. It would be a better idea to stick with a decent circular saw and straight edge until you have saved enough to go for at least the corded Makita. Totally agree with the 'buy once, cry once' mantra - especially nowadays with the price of timber and sheet goods!
The day after I bought my M18 track saw I read a comment on one of your videos about this saw and you responded "Video is incoming". Glad you made this one. I never heard of the Grizzly track saw until that comment so I was worried I might have wasted my money. Looks like I didn't.

Matt, you have reviewed other track saws, I think it would be good to have a running ranking (overall) for all of them. How do they compare to each other, etc.. My interpretation of your reviews would go like this- from worst to first: Ryobi, Grizzly, Wen, Kreg, Dewalt, Rigid, Milwaukee, Festo. Is this correct?

About the depth stop: The notch in that stop looks about 1/8th inch below the top of it. Could it be that the top represents the "with track" depth?
I've owned a few grizzly tools previously and was happy with them. I still currently own one of their scroll saws and it's a great little saw. I love milwaukee tools, but they are very proud of their products and the price keeps myself and many diy people from buying many milwaukee tools. With this review I'm still not going to buy a track saw, yet. Maybe someone will make a decent track saw that's not $800+. When it happens I might actually buy one.
My Grizzly cuts good. But my rubber spliter guard rubber guide piece showed up loose in the box. Just like yours. I stuck it back on and called them. Sadly they did not care enough to offer me a replacement. Probably because they have not fixed them. It continues to fall loose. I'll call them again.

With the 9 foot of track it's probably my choice for no more than I'll use it after the initial campers I'm building
Not sure if you have menards stores where you live, but menards has a Masterforce brand track saw for 200 bucks. 6.5" blade, 110" of track, carry bags for saw and track. I would love to see your opinion of that saw.

It's not just Grizzly saw. In Europe you can buy the same saw. It's name Scheppach. Cheap (about 100 euro with tracks), but accurate. Thank's for the video :)
Clean those tracks and the base of the saw with Wd40 and spray glide cote on them. That's what i done to mine and it made the operation much better!

The splinter guard is easy to resolve get the makita replacement ones I have the sheppach one which is the same tool I just replaced the splinter guards I also cut the spring a bit so it plunges a lot easier and I drilled a little hole in the side and attached a bolt for locking in to place when changing blade

not sure where in the states or if youre in canada there is another budget one by benchmark is a brand home hardware in canada use as their in house brand
Test it again with a better quality 3rd party blade. It was cutting nearly perfectly square with the low quality stock blade. stick a festool 36 tooth all round blade on it and I bet you’ll be surprised how well if does.
I own a lot of grizzly. Table saw dust collection, jointers, and so on and I have been waiting for somebody to review this product. Thank you Matt. I want to purchase a track saw however, I have to go cordless. It’s just such a big price jump.Ugh
I love your content and I think you've reviewed all the track saws by now. I gotta say I feel like the Ridgid is often ignored. Mostly seems like the top teir is Milwaukee and Festool (rightfully so) and then Budget ("trash") ones ares Ryobi, Wen, Kreg, Grizzly, etc. Ridigid saw is fantastic and gets no love in these comparisons in my opinion. Still love the vids, but I love my Ridgid more lol. Just used it yesterday to trim some of those horse stall mats you have for my garage. Wasn't fun cutting rubber, but the job was complete.
At 13>18 the blade kicked an actually stopped. It scared me when it happened in real time. Then I slowed it down to 0.25 speed and watched. You can see clearly the blade stop and the saw kick a little.
I seen why. You hit your T track on the table. When you were checking square you can see the blade mark on the edge of the table.
How useful is 9’ of track if the tracks don’t align? Or segments of the track are missing the splinter guard? I don’t think I would buy this saw for any more than $100. I just don’t believe it has more than $100 of value to me.
The first and only track saw I have is the M18 with the packout, charger, battery and 55” track. The bar has been set pretty high for me regarding track saws.
After reviewing so many track saws you should rank them 1-1x. I'm looking at track saws and I'm leaning towards a Ridgid but spending more for the Milwaukee is wearing on me. I'd like to see how you stack them up.
Yup, I was leaning Milwaukee also but it seems they have lost their minds. By the time you get everything you need you’re actually only like $100 from a Festool. Once I saw Milwaukee selling single batteries for $230 I’m out. I’m about to go back to the cord for all my tools.
Call a firefighter we can move those hard to move parts for ya…😎 The dewalt track saw I bought had the same issue with the tracks when it arrived, had to re-apply the chip guard material.
I have a Grizzly 17” band saw it’s rock solid.
Wen has a corded version of their tracksaw also, been using it for a few weeks and happy with it so far. Would definitely recommend over the Grizzly based on the issues you found

went ahead an ordered this I have a few grizzly products and they haven't disappointed. I believe they always bought shop fox or shop fox bought them. I have the Shop Fox version of this with the Grizzly tracks. I have had issues with deflection (with an aftermarket blade) on thicker material. Not exactly happy with it, but will keep it until I get either the Ridgid or Milwaukee. Probably will got with the Milwaukee and get batter adapters to go with my Ridgid tools.
I do wonder if the Milwaukee with work with these rails.
I have the model before this but the track was only 2 pc but the same length. Do you happen to know if your track fence that you love fits the grizzly track. I want on but do not want to spend the money if it does not.
I picked up the Milwaukee several months back and absolutely love it. The Mil blades are 165mm and I’ve been looking into buying a third party blade with a little more heft in the carbide teeth but a lot of blades only come in 160mm… does anyone know if 160mm blades can be used on the Milwaukee without issue?

Makita dc or ac and I understand that they are very good too and I don't know if they are better than Milwaukee
I have had one and for the price I don't think it can be beat
I have been a Grizzly customer virtually since their inception. Had a few difficulties with a 'budget' 6x48 belt sander I had borrowed. Griz wouldn't let me buy the req'd replacement parts (head roller bearings) because I did not purchase the tool originally. I went back and forth by mail (hey ..this was in the '90's) and the last two responses were from the Pres/CEO himself. We came to an understanding. I went to a bearing supply house and got the two bearings I needed after he told me that they were pretty common items.
Since then...well, times have changed. I have owned their 12" lunchbox planer, and got about 1500 hrs out of it before I ruined the armature because I didn't replace the brushes. I have owned their 14" bandsaw, but sold it after a year...at a $200 profit! Bought their trim router kit about 6 years ago. The router lasted about 3 hours, but I wasn't mad at it because it came with both fixed and plunge base...and the price I paid for the kit was half the current price for the plunge base from Makita for my cordless trimmer.
Ran their G1022x contractor saw for years in an industrial environment. Excellent power. Excellent fence. Excellent accuracy.
Grizzly has a veritable wealth of supplies. Sanding belts and discs. Blades for just about anything you can think of. And two tier levels of router bits. They have been my go-to for router bits for the first thirty years of my sawdust journey simply because they have virtually every bit you can dream of at extremely reasonable prices. The purple bits (best) are superb, and are actually worth taking to your favorite sharpening store for a touch up...or two!
Overall, I consider Grizzly a viable option for just about any major purchase you would want to make, whether wood or metal working. I consider their tooling to be on par with anyone's "better" offerings. I would encourage you to grab a cold one and spend an hour or so perusing their online catalog. You might be surprised!
Well, thanks for the review, Matt! I was disappointed by it but it let's me make an informed decision and I do appreciate that. I have several Grizzly tools, and before I'm done, I am sure to have more. I think for what I can afford and what I will use it for, it might work for me! Thanks again!
Maybe in the pacific northwest where it is colder where grizzly is located the glue is more set.
You don't talk about the Kreg much anymore when you compare these.
I'm on the Ryobi line but there is a lot I don't like about their tracksaw so I've been considering the corded Kreg.
Regarding the rubber sticking issue, didn't you have that same issue with Ryobi? Seems like that's a pain point for the cheaper tracks.

I'm not much of a fan of any track saws. Perhaps that's because I've never used one?? But, I'm not gonna plop down dollars for a tool just to see if I like it or not.
I also just don't use plywood often enough to need or want to try a track saw. They just are not a tool I need in my shop.
That being said...If ever there came a time I did enough sheet goods projects to warrant a track saw, I think I'd just rig up a dedicated panel saw to my wall instead of a track saw. This could be done for far far less money than even the cheapest track saw and it could be installed on the outside of my shop wall. Simple clamp up of a Circular saw and zip zip, plywood is cut. Unclamp the saw and put away.
But, then again, I've got TONS of experience tinkering/engineering things so to me that'd be easy, to someone else, I could see them just tossing down a few C-Notes and calling it a day.

I didn’t get a track saw until recently when I was building a deck and wanted to make a really nice cut to put in the perimeter. I got the Milwaukee and have to say it worked so well. Previously I’d make such cuts w a circular saw and straight edge but it would not have been as pristine as a track saw for this. These things are definitely worth the money, even for a Wen or the grizzly.

Awesome job with these reviews! Curious to know about the Triton track saw as there are not many reviews for this. Most reviews are UK reviews. I do like the anti-tip design. I’m just considering making my own straight edge guide and using my skill saw.
That grizzly track saw is a rebadge of the last gen Wen track saw.

Right there with you. Problem with the Milwaukee is by the time you add everything you need you’re only about $100 from Festool. I went with the Festool.
Any chance you'd be interested in reviewing the King Canada 6.5" Track saw? They sell it at Rona here in Canada but there's no reviews anywhere online for their track saw. I'm really curious if it's any good since it doesn't use a proprietary track and it's affordable.
How does it compare to the Triton TTS1400?
Don't let Grizzly fool you.. They are known for the Table saws but the smaller tools are a crap-shoot.. A lot of their stuff is just painted green and the exact same tool as Northern, HFT, and a bunch of brands with different stickers. Most Grizzly hand-power tools are a disappointment and no store to return them to.. The Milwaukee is the only choice if you use it to make money
Honestly Grizzly has been slacking on quality lately. I almost returned one of the 2 tools I own from them that I got recently. The paint was flaking off and it looks like it might have a rust bubble under the paint. It's just a 5" combo sander that was only about $100 so I decided to keep it. I went budget on a WEN benchtop band saw and I am super happy with it. I don't use a track saw often enough to justify the top end tools so I think the track saw I will get will be the WEN.

For the price, even with that unsticking issue, locking device etc., I’d consider it. Almost like having to turn a “fair to middlin” plane out of the box into an actual really nice tool. Nine feet of track is pretty decent too but the issues are something they should address. The saw really looks decent best I can tell. I love my Milwaukee 18 v, works great but I’d maybe get this as a corded one. Consider this saw is basically 200 less than other brands like Dewalt, Makita, aand 300 less than Festool. Edit: having watched the whole vid, I’m not sure I’d buy the Grizzly after all. Wen does surprise me often with the pretty decent tools they come out with!). Wen for the win? The lack of power in the Grizzly is a problem.
