This gentleman has more faith than most people, his boat is his home; He’s lived through this before and he’s at peace on his boat. I speak blessings over him during this hurricane..
I'm with him about sleeping through the storms. Once you've made your preparations, what else can you do? I'm a native Floridian, living along Phillippi Creek, on property my Grandaddy homesteaded in the 1930's. I was eight years old when Donna flooded the neighborhood. I will not evacuate. My home is high enough to avoid flooding (even from Helene's surge), so my threat is only from high winds never seen before, excuse me, Mr. Desantis, but from Climate Change. . Prepare in well advance, secure food and necessities, expect the worst and hope for the best. Those who evacuate will have their own problems, securing gas, finding lodging, avoiding accidents, etc. I'll take my chances, thank you.

He probably doesn't have a wife or kids to look after and really has nothing to loose. Even if he has some kids they might be all grown up and he thinks he's too old and maybe it's his destiny to either survive the hurricane or die in it. We lived in Pinellas County, FL 1985-2023. Got tired of the near constant heat and humidity and storms. We moved to the mid-west. Praying those who want to get out can and those who must stay are watched over by God.
I looked up hotel rooms yesterday out of curiosity, zero in the entire city of Tallahassee but the good news was there were rooms available in Huntsville, AL. Unfortunately, they were starting at almost a grand a night. How is that not considered price gauging? What has happened to us and to our country that the only thing we care about anymore is money and doing anything we can to make more of it. It breaks my heart.
Did the man in the boat remind anyone else of Lieutenant Dan?Just with the boat the attitude & injury. I can't understand how it's no longer a disability? Great job by those guys for GFM & their efforts to try to get him to go somewhere safer..that' was super impressive. Prayers for him & for all in the path ! 🙏 ❤
It's because the office probably had a quota of people they had to kick off disability and chose based on oldest disability claims first irregardless of qualification.
This is the best reporting I have seen. The guy with the truck and the gas that was going to leave at 0230 is smart! Can’t believe the sand people need ! Praying for everyone!
When I lived in Florida, the moment a storm formed near Trinidad,Tobago, I started getting ready with supplies, food, cars full every other day, planned for evacuate way ahead of the rush, never stayed behind. If I lost three or four days of work, so be it. I had emergency funds just for the occasion. When you wait for the mandate to evacuate, it’s too late to start preparing. Material stuff can go away, though I’m not losing my life over any of it. God help them.
@@AG-iu9lv When the Governor issues a Mandatory Evacuation, you go. No one is going to stay except for emergency personnel and hospital staffing, and those who just have no common sense. There isn't going to be any work.
Your home is beautiful. Lost my house in Sandy . My elderly neighbors stayed and lost their lives. My m so glad the police came to our house and warned us that if we stayed they would not be able to get to us . Our house was destroyed. About the sand … the elderly neighbors had survived through many hurricanes and permanently had sand bags all around their foundation…. It just lulled them into thinking they was enough. Sandy came and it wasn’t enough.
For 6 years now my husband and I have our go bags. Every year we check them to update and remove expired items. Man-made or natural disasters can just happen anytime and anywhere. And they’re becoming more and more these days.
So go bags do not cover all disasters the wildfire GO bags completely different than the flood disaster go bag as I found out on accident when I move from one state to another and realize might go back was not going to help me if I didn't change the stuff that was in it
I want to send you a message of support from Wee Waa NSW, Australia, but all the usual expressions seem overwhelmingly in appropriate or massively understated. We will watch and hope you can ride out the hurricane. Not enough, I know, but you and all your neighbours are in my thoughts. I visited there in 1988, and loved being in the Tampa Bay area and loved it. So you all have a special place in my heart.
I was praying about staying or going, and I knew that if I was going to go I needed to get my family on the road immediately. I’m glad I got out today. We just made it ATL safely. A lot of other Floridians here as well
I have heard that a few hotels are charging six hundred dollars per night; this is price gouging and it’s not the right thing to do during a hurricane.
If they have enough time, people need to go either North or West, to North Georgia, Alabama, Pensacola, or even Tennessee around Chattanooga or Nashville.
Of course they also need to pay their employees more because of the emergency and there is a higher cost to insure if they are going to be open during a hurricane. It isn't like their costs during a hurricane are the same as normal operation.
It's not price gouging, it's supply and demand. There's huge demand and little supply (hotel rooms aren't exactly a flexible resource), so of course the prices go up.
@@AikaCraftyCat I wouldn’t pay that much for a one night stay in a hotel just because of the major evacuation; I would keep on driving to a safer location and avoid any hotels that will charge $600 per night and sleep inside my vehicle or find an emergency shelter like a YMCA or a public transportation facility or a public library.
@@AikaCraftyCat $600 a night is excessive for most people; they can keep on trekking for a few hundred miles and stay in an emergency shelter until the storm passes through their homes and return safely home to access the damage to their houses. They will be spend much more than $600 on their damaged houses!

Faith is the opposite of fear. The man on the boat has nothing left to lose except his boat and knows that if it is his time to go it is his time to go. Freedom 's just another word for nothing left to lose, a line from a song which rings so true in times like this. Weather events like Milton show us how mighty nature is and how puny man is but they also teach us that what is important is people in our lives. Those material things can be replaced but people can't be. Be safe and listen to the advisories if you can. Thinking of you all and hoping you come through this unscathed.
I fear those bridges will not be there to get back home on, but....that's ok. Just get out! Look for folks that may need help. Don't forget. You may have room in the car, truck, rig, and they may have in their go bags what you may need. Pray for wise choices and calm. Much love.
The disabled man on the boat reminds me so much of Harry R. Truman, the old man who owned a lodge near Mount St. Helen and refused to leave his home even though volcano scientists were saying that St. Helen’s eruption was imminent and would wreak destruction for miles. Mr. Truman was a real character, like this man is, he was interviewed by many news media and he told all of them he wasn’t leaving the mountain no matter what. Well, Mr. Truman got his wish and perished in his home when St. Helen’s erupted. I pray this man does not suffer a similar fate. 🙏 Praying for everybody affected by the hurricanes.
I don't think he realizes that this is supposed to be the worse storm since 1921. This will be a catastrophic event. I hope they do a follow up story for this poor fella.
Where do that number of people evacuate to? Its unfathomable and heartbreaking, especially seeing most have damaged homes already. 😢 Old mate on his boat, I hope you survive! Your outlook on life is amazing and I wish you well.

In 2005 I was coming back from Iraq, my wife and kids evaced for Dennis I landed in Orlando couldnt rent a car because of the storm grabbed my ruck and started humping east. Zero traffic going to coast on the beeline. Im walking east I see a Florida State Trooper cut across the median. He said what are you doing told him the wife evaced I couldnt get a car I was going to my home in Sat Beach. He gave me a ride all the way to Patrick AFB, Thanks again Marine! I grabbed my Landcruiser parked at hanger 800, Drove home, boarded up the windows, sandbagged the doors, got 3 dive tanks threw them in my pool grabbed a wetsuit weight belt and rode it out underwater in my pool. We lost the garage, the back patio deck , My MIL house had Damage and our rental across the street lost the roof. Got out checked to see if anyone was in my neighbor hood needed help, then me and my buddy BoBo went and surfed all day when the wind switched offshore. Best time ever. No power for about a week didnt bother me, the wife stayed in tally for 8 days. But I get it this is different.
I moved away from hurricanes 31 years ago. Where I grew up was devastated by Helene. I only have to deal with blizzards, tornados, hail, wind, flashfloods, and avalanches.
US weather is amazing isnt it.. hardly anything of that here in europe, its the most boring weather ever, some occasional wildfires or flashfloods and thats it

My home is high enough to avoid flooding (even from Helene's surge), so my threat is only from high winds never seen before, excuse me, Mr. Desantis, but from Climate Change. . Prepare in well advance, secure food and necessities, expect the worst and hope for the best. 🏸 THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age brought by Christ to purify man with His Word"
Almighty God said
I have once been recognized as Jehovah. I have also been called the MESSIAH, and once people CALLED ME JESUS SAVIOR because they loved and respected Me. But now I am NOT the JEHOVAH or JESUS that man knew in the past---I am the GOD who RETURNS in the LAST DAYS, the God who WILL BRING the age to an END. I AM GOD HIMSELF ARISING FROM THE ENDS OF THE WORLD, full of My WHOLE DISPOSITION, and full of AWYORITY, HONOR and GLORY. 🙏
People have never partaken of Me, never known Me, and always no--know of My disposition. From the creation of the world until now, NO ONE HAS SEEN Me. This is the God who appears to man in the last days but is hidden from men. He LIVES WITH MAN, REAL and TRUE, like a burning sun and a burning fire, full of power and overflowing with AUTHORITY. There is no person or thing that cannot be judged by My Words, and there is not a person or thing that will not be purified by the burning fire. In the end, all nations will be blessed because of My words, and will also be broken to pieces--"pieces because of My WORDS. 🔴
In this way, all people during the last days will SEE that I am the SAVIOR who RETURNS, I am the MIGHTY GOD who conquers all mankind, and for man I am the SIN OFFERING, But to those LAST DAY I too will become flamesof the sun that will burn up everything, so is the Day of RIGHTEOUSNESS that will REVEAL everything. Such is My WORK in the last days. I took this NAME and OWN this DISPOSITION so that all people may SEE that I am a RIGHTEOUS God, and I am a blazing sun, and a burning fire.🙏
This is so that all may worship Me, the ONLY TRUE GOD, and thus SEE My TRUE FACE: I am not only the God of the Israelites, nor am I merely the Redeemer---I am GOD of all CREATIONS throughout the HEAVEN and EARTH and OCEAN. 🙏
From The WORD, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work. The Savior Has Returned On A ...
Fulfillment of (John 1:1) and (Ezekiel 2:9-10), (Revelation 18:9,13)
The Savior has returned and He or Christ has fulfilled His building of the kingdom/church on top of the rock or standing in the worthy holy place in the air/TH-cam! When He came He fulfilled what was prophesied in the book of Revelation and from there it is recorded that He changed a new name and the name of His city from ("THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD" 💐) "The Epistle to the church of Philadelphia" "The one who overcomes will be I will make a pillar totemple of my God, and he shall not be removed from it forever. I will engrave on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem that will come down out of heaven from my God. I will also engrave him with my new name. (Revelation 3:12). ... "The Reign of the Prince of Peace" "For a baby boy is born and he will rule over us. He is the wonderful counselor, the Almighty God, the eternal Father, the Prince of peace." (Isaiah 9:6). ... "For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their SHEPHERD. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water; and God will wipe away the tears from their eyes." (Revelation 7:17).
"They said together, "Salvation comes from the Lamb, and from our God who sits on the throne!" (Revelation 7:10). ... So God's sheep and the right people He created have come to His holy city the New Jerusalem that will only last on earth for 1,000 years "THE CHURCH OF ALMIGHTY GOD"💐

Yeah Biden and Harris are making sure everybody is prepared and ready... while sending Lebanon 150+ million in funds today 😂😂😂

The guy refusing to leave his boat is the definition of Florida man.

Funny, it's always blamed on global warming.
Also, if He doesn't exist, how do you know what He would do?
@@alwaysbased1212 LOL Well, since you don't believe in God, how do you know what he would or wouldn't do? 😉

God is real. It's not Him but demons that are causing havoc. These times of trial are a testing of faith that many have failed and many will overcome. 🙏
In Jesus’ name AMEN
Milton is an ominous name for a hurricane. Paradise Lost. My grandparents owned and managed the Skyline Motel and Apartments back in the 1960's in Madeira Beach. It's been changed and enlarged, but it's still there today, Oct. 8th, 2024. It was a paradise to me as a child.
What a beautiful wife you have, your treasure is where your heart is. God bless all.
Loads better than one named Chester😳😳😂
Nah. Every time I hear Milton I think of The Simpsons.

Boat guy could make it to Naples or Key West with that 8hp engine. Sitting and waiting for days for the worst part of a category 5 hurricane is crazy.
That's what I was thinking.
Use some of that Gofundme money for a used motor and head south for a few days.
I wonder if he actually has enough gasoline to do that. That little engine would probably make that boat go 3 to 5 knots. How fast depends on the hulls conditions. If fouled for years you need more power for a given speed..
@@alaska-bornfloridaman I would head north not south its probably going to change direction south
