I'm convinced that the system is setting up healthcare to fail. These corporations know what they do to attract and retain staff but they choose not to. And you're spot on with your 5-10 year theory. I've already started the licencing process to get my own business off the ground. New subscriber. Blessings to you brother.

It's bad everywhere, you have RN and LPN on the floor given patient care. Sometimes it be no CNA. It's short everywhere. And don't let the State come.

I work at the hospital full time and the LTC PRN. I am telling you most hospital nurses will NOT work in LTC. They think they are nasty, too many med passes, to much hands on care, too many people to be responsible for. They will not do it. The other side is hospitals have so many checks and balances there is too much tape and too much oversight and management. There are stressors to both types of nursing. Getting to the RN degrees I call it the nursing game. Many schools flunk you to get more money out of you and you get discouraged. Also everyone know becoming a nurse is a one way ticket to middle class. Many will argue racism play a big part in many minorities staying as CNA’s vs LPNand RN. 15 and hr to over 40 an hr is a big jump.

Me (LPN) and my son (CNA) work at the same facility. He'll pick up shifts through the agencies because they pay more but he has the stability of our job. Our facility pays him $23 but will pay $33-35 thru the agency when we're short staffed. Washington State.

There’s a nursing shortage bc 1) pay 2) scheduling 3) short staff 4) lack of training 5) terrible management

As an RN, I will pick up shifts at the nursing home, as they have too many patients. I could only do PRN work there

No that's not true. How can you go through nursing school if you don't have basic reading comprehension, math and anatomy skills? Sure, you don't need to be at the 90th percentile. So many people struggle with dosage calc and understanding their nursing books because they don't have a strong educational foundation. There's nothing complex about nursing education in my personal experience. The only issue is the amount of information that needs to be learned.

@@queenbutterfly4888 Yes, of course. But some ppl can't even do that. You just have to study for the ATI and HESI too. Also, to pass nursing exams, you need critical thinking to get to the right answer. Don't forget critical thinking.

"I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), but I believe that Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) possess more practical experience and knowledge at the bedside compared to most Registered Nurses (RNs) nowadays. This is because many RNs in hospitals have less experience due to retirement or leaving the healthcare profession altogether."

Well the acuity in the hospital is totally different than a nursing home. Yes patients are getting worse in the nursing home but the patients in the hospital are typically more acute than long term care. Yes you can have 4-7 patients in the hospital but you better believe that that nurse will be on her feet the entire time. Versus in the nursing home I’ve seen nurses with 30+ patients sitting at the station all day watching TikTok and able to take 10 smoke breaks. The advantage of the nursing home is that you get comfortable once you get to know the patients there, their families and their routine so it makes the job a bit easier. In the hospital your patients will change often.

I've called everyone no one knows anything~ I'm in it until the end but I will not take loans out at my age. SORRY bye bye
