@Christian Espinoza one good tip. Get good grades but take regular classes. Then in your senior year apply to nursing program. Just work hard and don't give up

@Christian Espinoza no. The definition of grit is to work hard and grind toward your degree. To not give up and to prove the haters wrong. You can do it. And if you fail keep trying don't give up

Im changing my major from Music to Nursing and I know it will be a challenge. Whats incredible about this decision is that its more than just job security or boredom with my current major, it is a calling. I may be late in the game but when I think of my future I want to do something important, and for me that would mean helping people. God has a plan and I am so excited to begin taking a step closer.

my husband has been a musician his whole life just about.. he now has 4 jobs running choirs for the homeless, drug and alcohol addicted people, people with mental illnesses. He gives music therapy to disabled kids and people. He gives song writing lessons to all these people too.. they get to express themselves and feel special because of the work he does. Music can lead to meaningful work. I am not saying any of this to be defensive or argue... just wanted everyone to know that music can provide great things to people in ways you don't immediately expect.

The reason why I want to be a nurse is because of a wonderful Amazinggg Nurse I had after I had my second child. She stood with me for a bit since I was alone alot after my csection. (military family)Not afraid to make conversation with me. I even cried in front of her and she said everything will be okay. You will be home soon. Just her presence alone was a blessing! I truly believe that nurse was placed there for me. She was a traveling nurse and drove a long time to work. That experience made me realize that I want to be that for someone else. I want to leave that impression on others.

I’ve chosen to be a nurse after much hesitance and I’m also having some of the most content moments. Thinking about the patients I will be working to help make me really excited and happy. Like I will wake up every morning for my patients. No matter how sad I am, someone is waiting for me and needs me. And I’m going to do whatever I have to do to help them.

I chose my major as nursing because i am passionate about helping others and understanding the human body. In my life I have found myself in scary situations such as a man passing out on the bus and also trying to figure out what’s wrong with my friends and family who sometimes just don’t know what to do in their medical situations such as vomiting blood , nausea , and heart attacks etc. Hopefully that can change because I will soon become a nurse major to aid everyone including myself and hopefully can make them feel well and happy when I cure them to the best way I could with my studies and knowledge of nursing : )

LOVED the “How do I know if nursing is really for me” “Only one way. To get in there and do it”. I’m an aspiring nurse. I graduated high school about 3 years ago, no studies after, and have always had this inner calling of helping people and didn’t know where exactly I wanted to apply myself. Psychology (major) was always on my mind but recently nursing had caught my attention and I think my heart even. Lol like you said I just have to get in there and do it and see. I plan on beginning school either this upcoming Spring or next Fall and your video has definitely made me feel more motivated to do so. All the doubts and worries I have, I have to just face and apply myself and if it’s not for me, hey. But I have to just do it like you said. Thanks for posting. I subscribed ❤️ and if I do go down this path and I’m successful, I’ll remember watching you and the encouragement I felt from your videos and your channel. Thanks again.

Back pain! So many nurses have issues with back pain. Pts are very heavy and more often than not you will have overweight patients that you have to boost ect. Also expect to have a crap schedule when you are new for a few years, seniority rules everything.
Also, you will likely get assaulted by a patient at least once in your career.

I really feel the second one on a spiritual level.. I've wanted to be a nurse since I was little (a psychiatric nurse to be exact) and everyone assumes it's because I want an easy track then being a doctor but I grew up with a mom who worked in the cardiac recovery room (and many others but for most of my childhood this one) as a bsn and I would visit her and one time her patient died while I was visiting her and she asked 'so do you still want to be a nurse after this?' and I responded 'even more so.. He died but you did your best and God blessed you with being with him in his last minutes.. I wanna be that blessed'

I love you man!!!! When you said you got to live this and study like it because lives will be in my hands. It was like the light flipped on! I am currently a working male cna for 10 years now and I've been in college doing my prerequisites for my rn. I have 3 out of 7 left to go and they're the worst ones I have heard. A&P1, A&P2, and microbiology. Since I have been in school I have had no life at all because I really want this so I work hard! I have to be honest I have saved these 3 prerequisites for last because they absolutley terrify me! But when you said live it. study like it because lives will be in my hands the light came on in my head and my anxiety over these last 3 courses don't scare me so much now because I'm gonna bust my ass and do everything I can to master the information I am learning! Man, you're great bro I feel like I just went to a psychologist for help and left the office a new dude! Keep these videos coming bro!

Ahhh, extremely helpful. I've been indecisive over a traditional career field (am nearly 18 next month & having to choose my lifetime path) going back & forth with what I had in mind, whether settling for the "easier" healthcare field of Sonography (Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Technician) or Pediatric [Registered] Nursing!
I watched this full video & prior than this, was really openly allowing myself to decide --- I think, I won't know until I try it. And even If, I get accepted in. It's truly a special field to be a part of, and be able to witness - as well as help aide in.
It's a true workload & I may not even know yet, what I'd be getting myself into, if I choose to pursue this. It's tough in deciding what's for us; I've even considered taking a break from college till next Fall, to decide, but I already have support going on to financially cover my classes, smh, gonna see. A dismiss is a Huge no.
Lol nonetheless, real helpful video, truly, thank you so much.

I begin nursing school in April. (LPN) with longer term plans of bridge to BSN programs. Im a guy, and older student (50 yr old) I also have a unique perspective having had a life changing experience, in 1990 I suffered a moderate stroke. I see this as an asset, I've been through an experience comparable to what future patients will face. I feel this makes me uniquely empathetic, not that you can't relate without such an experience.

In the medical field I always looked up to nurses and I always got intimidated by this profession now I am in the program to be a nurse and I don’t see myself doing anything else but that. I’ve always been a helper and look forward to caring for others. Now it will be to a whole other level of care. 😊

My ex girlfriend was an RN in New York City. She had a lot of crazy stories. CPR on babies that ended up dying on the table. Gun shot victims. Stabbing victims. She’s been assaulted, had her fingers broken by a meth head. Punched, kicked, scratched, attacked. But she loved it. She was proud to be a nurse. Plus she made like 115k a year, so.... there’s a little incentive. Meanwhile, I was working in a mine making 80k a year. We were living like Rockefellers. But she worked 12 hour days, I worked swing shift. We never got to see each other and one day we both just sort of decided we’ve grown apart and we went our separate ways. So there’s some sacrifice there too. Your relationships with a significant other, friends, and family can suffer. It’s a job for a strong person. I don’t think I could do it. I’ve considered it, but... no thanks. But thank you to all of you who do it everyday.

babe xoxo yeah, don't have the idea that it's the CNA or the PCT's job. You are a nurse, but no one is below you. I'm a Master's level nurse and as I move up, I will NEVER be too good to clean poop, urine, or anything else that comes out of any orifice. And that's how you get increased infection rates and the rejection of your teammates if you think you're too good to clean a patient.

babe xoxo I hope your not the type to belittle anyone at work because of your title, I'm a nurse and I see so many nurses think they are superior because of their title... if your patient is sitting in BM you can help wash and change them, it's called team work! Learn it

Worked 2 years in an inpatient psych facility - before I decided to pursue Nursing school - and almost done with prerequisites. Even during prerequisites, you have to sacrifice time/energy to your craft. I've talked to PLENTY of nurse's, studied behavioral psych/med-term/med-surg, etc...to get myself mentally prepared for what's ahead. Even during this run, it's been challenging, but rewarding as HELL! Also, another thing: don't let a bad test let you down. Keep grinding, keep doing what you're doing, you'll get there. Just because you're not the best nurse in nursing school doesn't mean that you'll be the best nurse on the floor. There's zero correlation between the two. I've seen nurse barely make it through Nursing school become of the best Nurses on the floor.

So in other words, the schooling for nurse is very tough? Currently a dad of two at 26 years old and have been graduated from high school for 8 years now and just been working in the workforce to have decided that the current job I've been at is not it long term (warehouse). It pays but back breaking work and a lot of overtime imo. I'm assuming it will be taking about 4 years to complete prerequisites and such. Don't really know how college works. I would be the first in my household to ever go

thank you for this video. I'm definitely going to try to get accepted as an RN. Mainly to have that foot in the door to be able to be something dignified and get out of retail work, and also to take care of my family when they get older. I have no qualms about what goes into it, but I think I can do it.

I have always had a passion for helping others and have always been emotionally sensitive to people so im hoping to put my mark on the world someday. There is so much i want to do such as nursing, law enforcement, vet, and much more. Thank you for the inspiration of your video.

You are an amazing Gentleman whom I have nothing but respect and admiration for. Thank you,
I work L&D and it's not always sweet babies and happy parents. In fact, it can be very sad, I want potentials to know this. It's not Utopia. It's sometimes so wonderful you cry happy tears but,
it can be awful when you know you're delivering a dead baby.
That happens more than the general public know. It truly is a rewarding career and you do get very ironic stories on L&D! I should write a book! I love your channel.

Hey! Nursing student from Germany here :) I love your videos and i can identify with everything you're saying. I've got a question though, Here in Germany we are lacking SO many nurses and the working conditions here are insane at some hospitals. I heard we have the worst hospital system ever. Normally we have one fully trained nurse or two if we're lucky and maybe one student at one ward per shift. We're taking care of 30-50 patients on one ward with 1-2 nurses and the students aren't even allowed to do everything. Is the lack of nurses as extreme in America?

I am currently a Music Education major and well.....I am not happy, and I dont know why. I love music and I have done it for so many years. But I feel God has called me to be a nurse. There are many more pros to being a nurse over cons. On the other hand with Music Ed, unfortunately there are way more cons than pros. This isn't just because of poor job security or pay or anything else. I just simply feel that God has put me on this path, and I need to listen to him.
    Thank you for this video.
