i love how you purposefully and do it wrong at first and quickly show how it’s done, I cant describe to you how important you are to the field of audio engineering.
You are the freaking best man. Your videos are quick, concise, and entertaining. I like how the lessons are split up. It makes it easier to learn exactly what I want to. Keep it up!
One of the most quotable episodes so far. When you said, "Let's go ahead and make what really matters: some Trap music," I shot milk from my nose and I haven't had milk since breakfast. Also glad that someone finally pointed out that C Major and A Minor are the most racist scales of the bunch, but that shouldn't dissuade anyone from using them. Even when an institution is corrupt, you've gotta take whatever advantages from it while you're waiting (waiting) waiting on the world to change. Subvert the system from the inside. Also learned about some new Ableton features. Thanks for the upload!
Man, your teaching style is refreshingly understandable especially when you consider how confusing all this can be for beginners. All BS aside, respect & appreciation. 🙏
I watched Dash Glitch make a psytrance track last night for 5 and a half hours. I learned stuff, but not as much as I just learned in 6 and a half minutes. From a 6-year-old video too. You rock mate. I'm glad I found your channel. I guess when you suck at producing as I do. You learn from the people who don't.
i have fucking been looking for a reliable way to find the key of a sample without guessing for years. thank you so much for this tutorial. its the best one out there plus its fucking hilarious.
wow this lesson actually helped me alot I mean i tried always tried to match the notes but i never knew where to find then tuner then actually tune the notes
I play my guitar and make audio clips, then I convert them to midi and create my bass other instruments, it's a very good way to expand ideas, check out my soundcloud:) Benomaly
I remember Gravez; the guy that produced threats with Ekali.. talking about always making sure to tune your bass 808s. Always make sure everything is in tune.
These videos are the most fun I've had since my only friend left me. And he was really funny until he wasn't. I've learned a lot about un-sucking and Derek. Thanks bunches!
I usually just go by ear but that tuner seems mad dope!! Is there any plug in similar that i can use with my maschine? Thanks for the vids keep em coming!
In Maschine I'm pretty sure all the sounds come standardized so when you press C it is C. For sounds I get from the internet, if it doesn't state what key it's in I use a tuning app of my phone (like one you'd use for a guitar) that was free, and just put it up toward the speaker. It works for sounds that are more normal and less distorted/crazy sounding. It's far from perfect but it's helped me out a couple times when I couldn't figure it out by ear
Yo, Wassup !!! Saying Hi from Mexico where a lot of punks suck at producing, (Including me ) I like your humor sense on your videos and I've learned a lot too, thank yu!
Damn I do , Favorites is Ableton on Marihuana , I felt the same way A couple of weeks ago , I get creative when I smoke but its not a good idea when u are high as fuck !!!! jajaja
thoughts on Fl studio vs ableton when it comes to sound quality and more importantly the tools to tweek tracks the way your showing? im currently using fl but got a live lite 9 verson with Akai purchase recently. ps these vids are helping either way did you go to school for music theroy???
hmm, have heard great things about fl but never personally used it myself. from my experience its not about the software you use, but how you use it. i took music theory as part of my classical piano upbringing, but it was all done in private lessons.
My name is Tyler and I suck at producing, even though it is my passion and pleases me (both emotionally and sexually). Thank you so much for this plump juicy tutorial you've provided for my brain ears.
I'm confused by the fact that a tuner is needed: if it said that the note being played by the synth was a c, why did the tuner give a different note? please help someone?
sometimes samples/synths aren't actually the same note as the key you're pressing. For example if I sampled a synth playing a G note and dropped it into a simpler, playing a C on my keyboard would result in the G, instead of the correct pitch.
I’m sure I’m learning something but I’m having so much fun. Wow. Who would of thought it. Having fun whilst learning makes it feel less like a lesson but an activity. Yey 🤪
great and freaking funny vid once again. I am wondering though. This is about how to get the bass and synth in tune. Let's say I add in more instruments. Should one always run these through a tuner? I do it by ear but often time things seem (slightly) off, making it eventually sound less pro. Basically is the root note of your bass essential for all your other sounds (do they need to be in the same key)??
Im on video 8. Can't stop. Its like a taxi driver watching the cars pass by on break. If the cars were fuckin. Effective & hilarious tutors for a ever growing group of shitty aspiring producers. Looking forward to episode 87. When you change the title too "uh, ok you still suck at producing?" Lol. Thanks for your sence of humor. Great vids.
c major scale being racist had me dead for 2 minutes

equally racist, but slightly more unconventional.

I love how you named the synth Only to point out the simplicity of trap. So many layers to these videos. I might have to get lessons soon.

learned some music theory & learned how to drop the bass 11/11
I've learned so much from your videos and have stayed thoroughly entertained. Thank you
very amusing way to get over all the important basics.
"C major the most racist scale" lmao
indeed it is
and A minor is a racist too but even more sad.
benq994 At least A minor is sad about it. And C major (Ionian - the happiest mode) isn't...
YES!!! more lessons cheers dude
u changed my life, thank you, i owe you
Good video. Another way you could do this is to convert the audio clip melody to midi and drag it to your bass instrument, lower some octaves:)
interesting technique, i'll have to try it
I play my guitar and make audio clips, then I convert them to midi and create my bass other instruments, it's a very good way to expand ideas, check out my soundcloud:) Benomaly
I really like how you do these tutorials, very enjoyable to watch
“Slave Boxes.”
Good one.
if the tuner doesn't show anything.. try using the spectrum.. placing your mouse on top of the highest peek will give you the root note
great tip here
You Suck at Producing lol I just noticed I spelled peak wrong
just found your channel, and i already love your content and dry humor. great work and thank you!
Funny and educational...thanks for showing me how to find the root note!

Dude you are fucking awesome ; thank you so much. I spent $180 in Ableton training courses and your TH-cam lessons are so much more HANDS ON.
As I suck, can you explain why your synth piano roll root was C, but actually b flat when you checked it?
This is very very impressive work.
I didn't learn anything from this besides tuning and coordinating synth x bass but your commentary almost made me die of laughter
These videos are the most fun I've had since my only friend left me. And he was really funny until he wasn't.

Is "dropping the bass" an actual thing, a technique, or is it just a hip way of saying "making a bassline"?

how do i extend the note like your bass? all of my samples are just quick drum hits and i cant figure out how to make them hit the same note longer
