If you are making racecar, be aware that the stock amp, speakers, subs all weigh quite a bit. Not saying you should delete it all, but if you removed some it would make a difference for sure. The thing has something like 11 speakers afterall.

You love SMG until it fucks you up. I've the same car for 2 years, researching about the ZF or DCT swap which will work like it's from factory. But after you guys kept the initial project to yourselves, I was upset and give up. Happy to see it again. Not that I would do it, just to know it is possible. I know the DCT/ZF swap is not a good idea for a regular person when it comes to DME works, but S85 + SMG is already a bad idea :)
Hey guys! Just want you to know you should really change those gaskets on the dct if you haven’t already. Especially the top mechatronics gasket and the side pan gasket. I can see the leak on your mechatronics gasket. On my e90 m3 those gaskets along with the bottom pan were leaking slowly. It eventually caused an overheating issue. I had to drop the trans in order to address them. Then I refilled to oem levels and added an additional liter like the m3 GTS. Just hope you don’t run into issues like I did. Great build!

Love the channel already 4 mins in and that thumbnail is an eye catcher 4real. I feel the same way about the smg, love hate and I don't really desire to go manual even as an E30 owner. I spent at least 3k in parts to fully redo the smg system in April, I took my time and procrastinated but just successful started her in bench mode 1 more good day of work and she'll ready but I hope by the end of this video I won't regret putting money into this old system!
I don't know where you heard Turbo Lamik, MaxxEcu & so on doesn't work but i use all of them & they're incredible high grade products. Best on the market frankly by a far margin in terms of zf8 tcu tuning/swaps & standalone ecu. No competitor really touches even close to the ease & massive accessibility to tune/control legit everything that either or allows you to do. I have it on my v12 build & it's flawless. The zf8 would've been a cool swap
of all them controllers you listed. HTG is the only one that "doesn't work". if you wanted pretty much plug and play, cantcu is unreal. running it myself on a 450+ 330d zf8 swapped.
I like that you're using the original BMW software. Will be curious to see how well it works. Interesting that you're dismissive of CANTCU. I've heard nothing but good stuff about them so far

@@acerm7721don’t get upset because we won’t recomend it. The truth is probably around 6-7k in parts (inc gearbox second hand) that doesn’t include labour. What you will never have is the calibration on a stock MSS65 DME in order to be able to complete this conversion. You could try use aftermarket stuff. How much would that cost? We don’t know, we don’t recommend doing this for a number of heavy factors, not just cause we want to be unhelpful. It’s taken us 5 years, we only revisited because we’ve all grown as people and have way more experience, more time and most importantly (when it comes to car projects) we are also in a financially stronger place in order to be able to mess around with zero expectations. Let’s see if the bla bla bla is any good then? 🙏🏼
BMW will always give joy and immediately take it away. Why not figure out a tremec tko. Dct are not the way. Hope to see more of this car running than it trying to unalive itself. Good luck to your bank account.
Lol I remember you guys from forums back in the days, you were bragging about how you have done a dct swap with an original dme and that it runs perfectly, but then everyone realized that ur just full of shit. Which is true btw because you admitted it in this video, it never worked perfectly nor it ever will. It can work because i have done it, but not perfectly. For the consistently perfect downshifts and “OEM m3 like” rev matching, you need a magic box. But Im excited to see the results, I hope you prove me wrong :)
lol. I admire you having the time to come on here and write this plus re edit it. Yes we have done it, we were consumed by it many years ago and life got on so we parked the project. It’s now working. On MSS65. We no longer have anything to prove to anyone it was always something we tried to achieve for the community but seeing as everyone just chats gas all day we’re going to keep it to ourselves. My CANTCU works flawlessly with my Standalone engine ECU on my B58 in my E92. OEM is elite though so fair play
