I've been using planners for over 20 years and can't do without one. I did get on the big planner train for awhile, but now I'm back to using a simple Hallmark planner. I love the one I purchased for 2017. Its approximately 5 x 7, so its easy to fit in the purse. I purchased the Marjolein Bastian planner by Hallmark. Simple, with pretty art. Nothing fancy but a great layout with the the months in the front and the weekly after than. I love that it is book style, not on a coil, and soft cover so it isn't too heavy. I hope they make this style every year! I'm a no fuss kind of gal so this is perfect.

Thank you for all of the time, effort, and money you put into this. The truth is, you could probably make 2 or 3 more videos on planners and still not cover everyone's favorite. But this was so thorough! It's definitely a good place for people to start! :)

I think you should also mention things like 6 ring binder planner/personal size, and travelers notebooks, and purple trail planners and my personal favorite, plum paper planner.

the happy planner now comes in 3 sizes and both vertical and horizontal... I have been using their system the past year and LOVE IT... IT MAKES ME HAPPY. I have had only a couple quality issues and they fixed it it immediately sending replacements out the same day and all dealt with via email.
I am a busy mom of two with special needs and it works great for knowing where I need to be our what in home appointments we have that day, my to do and other stuff

Great vlog/review Kayla and really interesting to see the inside of so many planners out there...I also use the Passion Planner as a project planner, for blogging and artwork - I ignore the horizontal lines and write with my big scrawly handwriting in the vertical daily spaces. There's a how-to mind map (almost typed mind meld) section plus in the undated versions the months are grouped together. And a monthly reflection section for each month. I absolutely love the black faux leather cover and the planner isn't rigid but is bound. The company also does limited runs of special covered versions in interesting textures and colours. And I like the company as they're socially aware, donating hundreds of planners to people who might find money tight. Plus they offer a free download of the entire planner which you can punch and file. I have tried some decorating in my Passion Planner too :)

I love the happy planner and i think its super comparable in terms of style and function as the EC. I use it exactly I would my EC (which is my main planner) so personally I wouldn't say it is just for scrapbooking. There is however more color options like the dividers inside and the pages (depending on which cover you get) which is vibrant and can be looked as more for a younger crowd. Definetly not a professional looking planner but as someone turning 30 next year I still love it. Just my two cents for anyone curious or wanting to try the happy planner.

I'm a pretty diehard bullet planner. Just wanted to mention that there is a system for planning and to do lists that can be very helpful for staying on top of things. Search for Ryder Carroll and bullet journal. Btw- you almost had me headed to the Erin Condren website. So tempted!

Kimberly Dickson Yes exactly. As long as they aren't legit copying them they can't get in trouble because I'm pretty sure EC or HP own their layouts and such.

    • @JuliesPlans
      @JuliesPlans 8 ปีที่แล้ว

AquaGamer but EC was the first to launch a vertical with three sections. That concept is theirs. Everyone else's is "influenced" by EC. Not an exact copy but alarmingly close.

Great review but I'd like to add something about the Bullet Journal. You said that it is a planner system for very creative people and, while it's true that many people create stunning bullet journals, I think it's conceptualised to be much more simplistic than that. You can check the official Bullet Journal page to see what I'm referring to (I apologise for not being able to explain myself quite well). This system didn't work for me but its strongest point is that it's highly customisable (far more than an EC).
I just wanted to add that in case someone was confused :)

Bullet Journal-er here. I actually use a Markings journal from walmart for my current Bujo, I don't get fancy with layouts or anything, I just spend a lot more time writing and don't always need tons of actual planning say, hour to hour. Most of the time a to-do list will work just fine for me.

I love my EC planner. I started the year off as a stay at home mom and a cub scout leader. So I love how much room i had to write stuff down. Then my husband got seriously injured from falling getting out of the shower and I found out just how important my planner was as I can bring it a long to Dr appointments and show the many different Drs when he exactly got hurt and the journey of all the Dr appointments, there game plans and meds. Then with his injury I had to go back to work to provide for my family as disability payments don't pay the bills. I work with developmentally disabled adults and my planner helps keep track of my work schedule and important dates for my clients. To say the least My EC keeps a lot for me. But I will be trying out the new Recollections planner this year as it is more affordable I got it for $10 on black friday but my boy's got it for me for my birthday present for next week. lol (the hazards of me taking my boy's shopping as hubby needs me to drive lol)

This is such a great video! I'm a stay at home mom and for 2015 I used a Walmart planner and it worked great for me. For 2016 I've been using an Erin Condren life planner it also works great. For 2017 I was considering a happy planner but everyone caters to the ECLP so I think I will stick to that :) just to keep things simple.

Thanks for the video! I personally use the Passion Planner because I work with students 5th-8th grade and the Angelia Trinidad of Passion Planner donated a group to the students. I have found the students love this type of planner especially since it supports the goal setting lessons I review with them. However, I am researching using the Happy Planner as a bible journal for the year. I truly appreciate you doing such a great job with reviewing the various planners on the market. It was great to see and overview. I just wanted to suggest the Passion Planner also in your review. :-) May people are adding the stickers and color coding to customize it. Especially since it is not as visually interesting as the other planners. Hope this adds to your inventory of planners you review. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Yay for mentioning bullet journals! One thing I will mention is that a lot of bullet hournalers are pen enthusiasts and often use fountain pens and the paper that EC has is terrible for fountain pens. You'd be better off mentioning Nanami Paper Seven Seas books or Leuchtturms, if their paper hasn't got down the tube as well. But it was an awesome video nonetheless and thank you so much for the opportunity to win these planners. I really love the look of the Happy Planner, just for the discs.

Most of the planners are hard to get hold of in the UK because of the cost of postage and customs charges, there is a European alternative to the EC at a fraction of the price from AJ6 Designs on Etsy, like the recollections one it has exactly the same layout as EC.....I'm looking at getting a faux dori to use next year alongside my EC, HP and personal .....great video but I feel you only touched the surface with what's out there, so please can you do a part two? 💕 xx

I looked it up just for curiosity sake (I'm not from the UK). I'm curious/ wondering at what point are these vertical style planners copying each other. I know vertical planners/ inserts have been around before EC. BUT I think EC was the one that made it into the 3 sections per column.

FYI... the happy planner box set at costco is $24.99 USD and has an additional 6 month worth of planner pages. I got a really pretty turquoise colored blue sky planner with triangles on the front. Its about the same size as the fist planner in this video. It's weekly and monthly and it was only $5! It's horizontal lay out. I absolutely love this planner, there's lots of room for planning and decor in my opinion and it's so cute! Normally I don't really care about this kind of stuff but I love my planner! I bought it at Walgreens by the way. It also has a map of the US with the capitols, what day the holidays land on every year till 2020, 8 note pages, and 2 pages for writing contact information. I love love love it! I recommend it to anybody who can find it. Ahhh!!!! This isn't even sponsored I just love this cheap planner! I think it comes in other colors too. Sorry I'm ranting.. Bye bye!!

I need to visit the US so badly... Here in Germany we don't have such cute alternatives! The "low budget"-planners you can get here usually look really cheap and the design on the inside, well... It's nowhere to be found. I got my eye on a Happy Planner because I think that those discbound-planners are really awesome in terms of versatility and usability for me :) They are quite spacious!

I've had the 2015 and 2016 Erin Condren vertical planners, and got my 2017 vertical neutral one during the black Friday sales. I was so excited only having to pay $25-ish for it, with a custom cover, between the sale and free shipping. I've gotten tired of the same colors for every month, so I'm looking forward to being more creative with the neutral. I've also ordered one of the coiled deluxe monthly notebook (or whatever it's called) to focus on my writing goals and notes. This video was wonderful, btw. :)

I just purchased the Happy Planner box set from Costco. There is only one cover available (the black with the gold heart), and the inside has the morning/afternoon/night headers (unfortunately).

" I love it when they add stickers - I feel like they understand us..." Preach! No-one in the UK adds stickers!!

I love planning but such fancy planners are not available in my region 😭
I checked everywhere but couldn't find it. I tried to get it online, but that was so expensive for me 😭

Surprised Inkwell Press Planners wasn't on your list. Inkwell Planners are more of my style because it is more minimalist.

I'm still a student and I'm really interested in getting a planner, but I'm looking for more of a journal where I can still plan my homework and important etc, as I don't really have that much to plan, I would just want to write what I did and how I feel... Do you know what I should get because I'm struggling to find one that's flexible to my life. I don't like to be creative either so it's really hard to decide... Thanks xxx

Try a bullet journal! Look up videos on youtube or things on pinterest. They are super customizable and you can write and decorate as little or as much as you want. I use a system kind of like it for organizing my college assignments.

Someone Nobody Nobody you should look up the happiness planner! It's more for people who like to make lists and to-do's! It also focuses on your happiness and the way you feel about your entire life. You could also do bullet journaling! You can adapt your agenda to your own needs and decorate it the way you want.

I've seriously have been trying to find the recollections planner in vertical. I've been to 10 Michaels and they're either sold out or only have the horizontal. I'm new to the planning world and well I've only been planning for a year. It's so hard trying to find the planner. 😢😔

This is a fabulous comparison video - thank you! On the Erin Condren vertical with times, does the typical 1.5" wide sticker cover the times as well, or does the sticker need to be shifted to do that?

I'm in love with the EC Planner and I would buy for 50 euros. The problem is it's at least 80 euros including shipping to Europe... I just got my second planner from personal planner.com and I love it! You can customize everything and it's affordable for me since it's European.

why anyone would keep buying the EC after Recollections versions being exact and even better with price and not sticking out of tabs...
