That call on Joe was kinda BS because they all stepped on the red a bit. When running around to retrieve the potato Jon and Doc both kept hitting the red green.
Keith Graham Also stepping on it isn’t _touching_ it unless you’re barefoot
I concur. I bet that all of them at some point touched it, simply nobody paid attention like they did on Joe.
Imagine thinking that the rules actually matter in this game
Yes but that didnt actually give them any advantages, as Doc mentioned a few centimeters difference could have caused him to miss instead of hit.
You will learn, as you watch more episodes, that fairness doesn't really play a big part in this show. In fact, unfairness brings many of the funniest moments.
the second the potato game started, I only watched joe and he was so anxious to go, you can tell hes been waiting for this moment for weeks after he made the shot.
Alex's face was priceless. I mean in the aftermath of the potato throwing.
For those who don't know: he runs the show. So behind the scenes he is the puppeteer.

The person running this channel is a perfect angel. THANK YOU!
this is the official upload by taskmaster! the official taskmaster twitter (its in the bio) is linking this youtube channel and are going to be posting a new episode every tuesday! so even though its not "verified" its still official! :D :D :D (and im buzzinnnn)
Thank you SO much for uploading these. As an American who loves funny UK game shows, this is a real treat.
Have you ever watched nevermind the. Buzzcocks
Fair play to the producers, Alex and Greg for sitting on the potato shot for possibly months before the reveal.
I did not expect an episode of task master to be this emotional
Rewatching Joe throwing that potato is so painful. Just watching all that joy, knowing it'll all come crashing down seconds later.
Poor Joe. VAR is ruining this sport I swear.
That potato throw defined joes whole run on the show
Katherine crying talking about how she doesn’t care about sports is my favorite thing in the world
As an American just finding this show last week, I was binging clips and now watched all of series 1. Gonna binge watch all the series, this show is better than anything on American TV by a long mile.
Went on the same journey 😂
This is the best single episode of the show ever aired. From Kathrine's tears to Joe's anguish, Doc's confidence at "croupier". The best!
I wasn't sure I remembered Doc Brown but then he caught the fish in the intro and I suddenly remembered him with astonishing clarity. 😂
24:11 the most heartbreaking moment on tv
ruuddo Was it this moment or... was it the moment Doc and Jon denied him the points?
@@gaiusmaecenas1861 definitely this moment, I immediately knew he wasn't getting any points that round.
@@gaiusmaecenas1861 Jon wasn't surprising, Doc kinda broke my heart though. Then again the man does punch fish.
Who'd have thought potato throwing could elicit such emotions independently from both Katherine Ryan and Joe Wilkinson?
This show made my days during covid, and now 4 years later, it still brings so much joy to my heart and makes me forget all my problems!!
Katherine had game-breaking strategies, but instead of using them to cheese she uses them to improve the way you would assume it should be played. It's so cool but also unnecessarily honorable. I love that
I just want to mention that Joe got no points in 3 of 5 tasks, and still was only a single point behind Doc.
The potato task encapsulates everything I love about this show and it's my go to when I want to introduce people to the show. We have people having the most straight forward execution of the task, The person with the clever workaround the rules, the daft moment and the heartbreak of a rule break moment. All paired with some clever banter throughout.
I was totally expecting Katherine to ask the Swede whether he spoke French and just it translate herself
That was my initial idea as well: "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?"
Does Katherine know french in any kind of way beyond the usual Canadian "I took it in school until they stopped making me take it" way?
@@nekro5342 The described "usual way" should suffice for this task.
@@Alresu I took french to grade 13, don't remember much of it now unfortunately. Might have worked for her though.
@@nekro5342 so far as I know, she went to a French-speaking school so she's fluent.
Richard Osman standing up there not knowing what to do with the prizes is comedy gold
It's so hilariously awkward. Just keeps rubbing his hands
Whenever Jon starts acting too smug on Countdown, I come back here to watch him bumbling around
The classically ambiguous English prepositional phrase.
*chef kiss*
i love how Katherine uses her social skills to win, the more i see her in variety shows, the more i like her
Should have just gotten the swede to write down his answers in swedish and submit it. They didnt specify that the answers had to be in English :p
Now this is critical thinking
Should have just opened Google translate and had him speak into the phone and get the translation.
@@Tkieron Google translate didn't exist at this time.
@@Lgg130 this was 2016, though
@@Tkieron My guess is that wasn't allowed, as pretty much everyone would do exactly that.
"You got the number wrong" around 36:01 might be one of Alex's best comebacks. I'm rewatching this in the background so I'll have to keep a list so they can put together a clipset of them, except that it would run counter to the premise of the show, so I'll keep the list privately thank you, no questions.
Doc saying "Man, that's harsh" after voting against Joe killed me.
Then Jon saying, "We fought for ya, mate."
Best laughs of the show.
" Never question Dent's authority while I'm on this team. Any more jokes about 'Dictionary Corner' being boring, somebody's going to get fucking hurt!" "Don't question Dent, simple as that." - Greg Davies, on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown
I've seen this several times now. Each time I get sadder and sadder for that potato throw.
It may be the greatest injustice of our day
potatogate ... seen 14 series more than once and this is at top of the hill ... all alone ... as the greatest most iconic moment of TM
at first I thought it was great injustice
but now I appreciate it as a comedic masterpiece .. glad it turned out this way
Joe is a legend. Doesn't matter if he put a toe on the red green - he still made that shot in one. LEGEND!
We should all accept that it was the best episode of Taskmaster ever
Doc Brown's right foot touches the red too when retrieving the potato 20:30. Joe was robbed :(
Alex caught the *Small* part of Joe's foot but some how missed THAT?
Well, well, well... there are layers to this onion after all.
Joe's potato throw was the biggest rollercoaster ever seen on tv. take note, screen writers!
Nice, so glad you're putting all of these up.
Doc saying "That's harsh" after advocating that Joe should be disqualified is pure comedy gold.
After ten full series of this show I think this one still is by far one of the best hours of TV ever produced!!!
Doc and Fred had a genuine hot moment. Joe Lycett must have been jealous watching Doc steal his Swede.
"how much do we add for insulting the taskmasters assistant?" " oh I liked it!" season 2 and we've already upped the ante on the kink, loving it🤣
I had never heard of this show before finding the first season here on youtube and now I am obsessed. Thank you from Canada (about an hour from where Katherine is from, incidentally).
That was the most intense moment in "Sports" History. I felt so bad for Joe ................but................OMG!!!!
The culmination of the frustration for Joe is seen in the final task. Flipping off Alex and following that with chucking the bag across the floor. Legendary moment. Love Joe Wilkinson ❤❤❤
"Genuinely can't cope with this anymore." - Joe.
I feel like Joe is life.
I was disappointed when Susie didn't appear.
still masterful to use her as judge on the wording of the rules.
She was too pissed up to make it on
Who is she?
@@DeathnoteBB Susie Dent.
you are missing out. She's on. 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown
Shes a dictionary or an etymologist or something.
The 'that's actually a great prize' the others said to Katherine seems so weird after coming from series 7 where everybody is just attacking each other
Over the years I regularly come back to this video after a bad day to contemplate that at least I wasn't Joe with a potato
