Sadly, during this time there was of bands in the genre...this Wildside debut went unnoticed ans lost under the radar....it is a hidden gen gem if you can find a copy. I still give it plenty- o-play 😎
***** I´m always looking cd´s abd vinyls from these bands as well , everyday i discover a new one and their musicianship always amazes me . Quality always stoods the test of time :)
Great band , in 92 it was to late for this type of music. If they realised this album 2 years before they can be bigger. Great catchy melodies super vocals - like them so much. Hi from Russia everybody. Heavy metall and Rock rules!
For years I couldn't remember name of song or band, just the awesome intro & visual style, down to the white bass guitar! I'm from Guatemala in Central America so it was impossible to find non-platinum albums. Today, my mom flew in from Guate & brought me a notebook where I had written down a list of all videoclips I recorded into VHS from MTV's HB. As I read down hundreds of pages (each VHS stored six hours of mv's & I recorded them all!!!) I finally saw Wildside, HOL & I knew, this was it!!
This band is still one of my all time favorites! Under the Influence was a perfect Rock Album! Damn that Grunge Scene for killing Rock'N'Roll in the early 90's!
2024 and still listening. Collected all the cd's and have them on heavy rotation to this day. Tho, i like the album version of this song better, still a good song but not my favorite. I prefer the clock strikes and one more shot.
Got this gem when it was first out. Wildside were 2 years two late on the scene. I hear a terrific mix of Motley, Skid, Roses and Ratt. They had more than just this song, the rest are great as well, this song is far from their best. "How many lies" and "so far away" are even more awesome. Lets not forget about the awesome debut by Sven Gali when we are name dropping bands. For me this world still exist. I have a big record/cd collection of just "street metal" as i call it. Rock on!
This video ROCKS!! I bought this album a few months ago, have to say it kicks ass. Favourite songs are "Hang On Lucy", "So Far Away", "How Many Lies", "Hair Of The Dog", "Heart N' Soul" and "Clock Strikes"! An awesome hard rock album if ever I heard one!
"Criminally Underrated," You could not possibly describe this band any better, Phoenix. they should have been huge! Would love to see what they could do now!
I wish bands like this one , Tora Tora , XYZ among many others had stayed and shaped the sound of the 90´s , we´d have some great quality music until today ...
I agree with you. There were several bands that hit the scene in '89-91 (Trixter, Wildside, The Storm) to name a few, that should have been given a better chance, instead of being shelved for dirtball bands wearing dirty clothes and looking like they hadn't seen a shower since the mid eighties!
Couldn´t agree more with you , the 90´s were heading a new direction for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal , too bad the record companies decided it was time for the 3 chord people to shine ... at least now there´s an underground movement for this type of music in Europe , let´s see what future holds :)
Awesome timeless song. it was bands like this that fuel my passion for Rock still when the industry changed. still to this day I listen to bands like this. I was never a follower of just the big bands. I always needed my passion for Rock feed by the bands that just made Kick Ass music.
Can you Imagine how many Amazing songs were never brought to the masses because TH-cam & Such did Not Exist back in this, the most Gluttonous Era of Hair Metal...Shameful to think how many were buried under the MTV/Much Music or even worse Radio Playlist Hierarchy...Enjoy this Awesome tune & as always ROCK ON!!! \m/ \m/
heres an easy how to guide when on a date: get her to talk about herself as much as possible, when she wants to know 1 thing about you answer her then pose the same question to her, do this as much as you can get her to talk about herself/ family and friends as much as possible. by the end of the date she will feel that she knows you well even though u havent said much about urself. she will also feel that ur a good lisener (like someone with compassion and true intrest in her), next is bed time
Always liked you guys, got "under the influence " when it 1st got released, your vocals are intense man...I got my 16 yr old daughter to start listening to you too. Peace......
AAH, Thanks Drew! Dunno why this video disappeared from here sometime ago. Now I can some more Wildside fix! But exactly, I've never seen the whole video like this before either-so a real treat! ;)
motleydrue; i saw you mentioned tora tora. man that was one of the best concerts i have ever seen. they played a bar in myrtle beach in 1991/1992. a band called belle gunness opened for them. both bands rocked like i have rarely seen. tora tora's hit at the time was "wild America ".
You can feel the streets of LA at the time, with this great song and Guitar playing, classic music like Ratt , Crue and LA Guns, shame that grunge killed it and the party could not have lasted longer!!
The shame is these guys got praised for being the next big thing by Capitol in 1991, got a contract with big money for five albums and released their first album in 1992 when grunge was just around the edge, it sold bad and they got kicked from Capitol. Just overlooked and definitely one of the most talented bands of the latter days!
Great song and album. I've been thinking about hard rock bands (like WildSide and T-Ride) that released albums around '91 or '92 that fell under the radar, because of timing, label issues, etc., and should get another chance to shine. Or maybe WildSide was done in by the cost of the fans required to blow all the guys' hair in this video. (I kid, I kid!) But I associate this music with some actual good times in my adolescence. Thanks for sharing!
Hell yeah!!! Bought this back in '92 ( never gave a shit about the gansta rap & grunge scene, and I still don't because I know what sounds good to my ears ). I think in a 3 month period I purchased this, and I also bought, Saints & Sinners, "Salute" by 21 Guns, "Double Eclipse" from Hardline, "Fire & Ice" by Yngwie, Tall Stories, "Keep the Faith" by Bon Jovi, "Time to Burn" by Giant, Von Groove, "Revenge" by KISS, Unruly Child, "Fear of the Dark" from Iron Maiden, "Hear" by Trixter, "Wild America" by Tora Tora, Heavy Bones, and Jackyl's debut.....plus quite a few others. Seen Wildside live in Colorado Springs ( met them after the show ), great guys. Long live true rock everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice selection of purchases from '92. I have several of the same ones you mentioned. Too bad none of that music can be heard anywhere now, even on Sirius.
I rarely play CD's anymore, I TH-cam almost all the time for music. I listen to Sirius in the car, but it gets redundant with mostly the same stuff over and over, like a local station but no commercials.
Love this jam!!! \m/ ; ). Also found other bad ass bands that I havent heard since they did away with Z-Rock radio station.... Like Spread Eagle, Vain,Dirty Looks,King Kobra.... Leather Wolf ect.....
Best fuckin' hair metal band of all times. Outstanding,awesome...no words... You guys ruled once.. Let's rule the fuckin' world again. Fantastic....Best album of early 90's, no doubt about it.
lol, look at the early pictures of Wildside, they were almost as glam as they came back in the day. When the music scene changed around 91-92, the band sorta stripped down their image and even their sound a little. Regardless, they were an amazing band, still listen to them to this day. This video was actually posted here by Drew himself, I'm not sure he logs in much anymore tho...
Massively underrated band, like Love/Hate. Love the singer's voice. Great musicianship. For me this is easily up there with Out of the Cellar, Dr. Feelgood, Appetite for Destruction. I probably put this on even more than all of those these days. Especially Lad in Sin and How Many Lies. I wish they'd left Monkey See Monkey Do on the re-release though.
Wow, I really like this, and have never heard of this band!! Gonna go checkout more by them. The singer sounds a lot like another singer, but I can't think of who it is right off hand...
Just remembered who the singer sounds like to me, Dale Thompson of the christian hard rock band Bride. Great singers, both of them. They both have that raspy, growly type of voice.
these guys were VERY underrated, Under the Influence is a solid album! Saw these guys at Harpos in Detroit, 1992 with Babylon AD and Roxy Blue, 50 cent pitchers of beer, wet tshirt contest...fucking insane! Then the Ritz in 1993 then Irock, by then Green Day and garbage like that was ALL over....
hey this is great....sorry to say i missed this band back in the day....where was this band from;what state?....I think there is a groundswell of renewed interest in metal/melodic rock here in the USA...finally...witness Mr.Big just reformed and is set to tour Japan and possibly the world....anyway, damn great tune here....thanks....
we opened for this band twice. the royal grove in lincoln nebraska and JCs south Kansas city. music was great...but the singer live , looked like he was struggling veins popping in his neck, all muscles tensed, strangling the microphone. huge dramatic breaths before these "axel" passages. saw no future in his voice live.
I love this band, it's a shame it didn't go further, lots of talent here and a kickass sound. I'm a latecomer though, as I'm only 20 and found out about them because my mom went to high school with Benny. Regardless, this music rocks.
...if Mark Slaughter jammed with George Lynch in a Skid Row cover band. Blast from the past. I bought the CD at tower in hollywood back in 1992. Used to love the vocals and guitar.
This is 1992? The music, music video, and everything doesn't feel like a 90s rock song. I found this song accidentally by looking up Korean rock band Lucy
One of the most underrated bands of all time......these guys were amazing.
100%
Sadly, during this time there was of bands in the genre...this Wildside debut went unnoticed ans lost under the radar....it is a hidden gen gem if you can find a copy. I still give it plenty- o-play 😎
That´s how the 90´s Rock should´ve sounded , it started with the right foot but then music went downhill ... this band is criminally underrated
yijaaaaaaa
***** Yep , the late 80´s had some great bands that should´ve made it big , Tora Tora , Sea Hags are another example :(
***** I love all these bands you mentioned , they all wrote some great quality music , at least they´ll live on with the fans :)
***** I´m always looking cd´s abd vinyls from these bands as well , everyday i discover a new one and their musicianship always amazes me . Quality always stoods the test of time :)
Phoenix Van Wyden Early 90's KINGOFTHEHILL that CD was so underrated.
Awesome tune. I wish Hollywood would start promoting this style of music again.
one of the last classic hair band songs in the early 90's just before all these type bands stopped writing hits all together.
Great band , in 92 it was to late for this type of music. If they realised this album 2 years before they can be bigger. Great catchy melodies super vocals - like them so much. Hi from Russia everybody. Heavy metall and Rock rules!
I miss all these bands from the early 90’s. I wish I was living in L.A. at this time. It would be at least three concerts EVERY WEEK!!
For years I couldn't remember name of song or band, just the awesome intro & visual style, down to the white bass guitar! im sure if they would of started in the early 80s, they would be considered one of rock n roll's greatest bands of all time, i know they are to me
2024 and still listening. Collected all the cd's and have them on heavy rotation to this day. Tho, i like the album version of this song better, still a good song but not my favorite. I prefer the clock strikes and one more shot.

Drew, you guys were the soundtrack to my teenage years. Thanks for putting out such kick ass music! I will always be a lifelong fan.
+metalbornmetalbred Even when their second record is such an embarrassing wanna-be grunge album they pretended it never happened?
Loved these guys. Seen em twice in 91, then they just faded away. Whole album was great, I knew every song by heart
thanks for the nice words - I still crank it too. You can get more Wildside on Itunes. It's called "The Essential Wildside" Check it out!
"Criminally Underrated," You could not possibly describe this band any better, Phoenix. they should have been huge! Would love to see what they could do now!

Hence why I was on here to find this song and share it to my Facebook Rock 80's, 90's page.

Yes we dream that the90 s 80 s return
Great band and awesome album
listen to this disc all the time, hate there wasn't more from them!

AAH, Thanks Drew! Dunno why this video disappeared from here sometime ago. Now I can some more Wildside fix! But exactly, I've never seen the whole video like this before either-so a real treat! ;)
omg i had to look for this... far more then i should have had too. i was live with them, they brought a hell of a show
If this band came out in 85/86 Guns and Roses would never had a chance.
motleydrue; i saw you mentioned tora tora. man that was one of the best concerts i have ever seen. they played a bar in myrtle beach in 1991/1992. a band called belle gunness opened for them. both bands rocked like i have rarely seen. tora tora's hit at the time was "wild America ".
one of my all time fave bands! was fortunate enough to see them live at Maxx's bar n' grill in Ithaca NY, back in the day ...what an epic night
I still have the promo cassette of this. Good band.

You can feel the streets of LA at the time, with this great song and Guitar playing, classic music like Ratt , Crue and LA Guns, shame that grunge killed it and the party could not have lasted longer!!
Lovin ' it - heard this song back in the day and never knew who the artist was, thanks for uploading this! Sooo glad I found this!!!!!
Damn I was 3 days old when this released 😮😂

they did a show a few years back in salt lake city when they released thier cd wasted years. it was a two nite show. both nites rocked.
was at the concert at the Vic theatre in chicago, Amazing!
solid song. wicked guitar solo...
Such a badass AOR release. the early 90's really had some kick ass stuff that was criminally overlooked and under appreciated.
This was the direction rock rock was heading until Nirvana. I don't hate Nirvana, but I love this!
Great song and album. I rarely play CD's anymore, I TH-cam almost all the time for music. I listen to Sirius in the car, but it gets redundant with mostly the same stuff over and over, like a local station but no commercials.
+Racine Evans Bon Jovi was garbage by that point... And I only ever liked one kiss album. Asylum was its name...
+Ken Leet The Hair Nation channel is pretty good.
Awesome work,,, Superb. Thank you .

This song Freakin SMOKES!!

I did a guitar lesson of this great song because it deserves it!
Love this whole CD! BF turned me onto it back in '99 on a drive to Vegas! Doesn't one of them own a shop out here in the I.E.?
these guys were VERY underrated, Under the Influence is a solid album!

Great words mate!!! Our band plays real sleaze hard rock in Finland with screaming attitude, cause here is too much plastic rock'n roll.
And Drew... U f.... ROCK !!!! Wanna sign your cd for me ., :) worth waiting 20 years for..hehe
Are you kidding me Wildside on one album had more rock'in songs than Skid Row put out in a life time!!
these dudes know i have good taste in rock/metal

It’s 2024. How’s Lucy doing? She still hanging on?

lol....i wore out my eardrums!!!!kool that you got to see them!!!
Must have been a blast, so many rock'n'roll chicks. Where was it filmed? If in Hollywood, which street???
This is 1992? The music, music video, and everything doesn't feel like a 90s rock song. I found this song accidentally by looking up Korean rock band Lucy
Besides the album in which this song appear, did you do anymore albums??
PS: 2 bad I couldn't see you live, damn!!
where the hell is music like this these days??
Phenomenal band and 92 before the grunge nightmare.
