Humans are not evolutionarily equipped to deal with the level of complexity that the rapid rise in disruptive technology is creating. While we are trying to humanise the machine, we are becoming more robotic. ‘Design or be designed’ is the new mantra. We need to think about a new form of human becoming which has deeper interpretation on the potentialities of the future than Transhumanism. Hyperhumanism examines how technology can help us to transform the human condition.
How can AI contribute to a holistic understanding of what it is to be human, within all of life? Can AI help us to decode the languages of other species?
Carl believes we need to focus on human skills and experiences that are not easily replicated by machines, such as adaptability, ethical awareness, emotional self-regulation, critical thinking, sexual adventures and psychedelic journeys. We are not machines, so we should not aspire to become them.
