Yesterday on pool 4 I watched a 15 heading south and remarked we don't see that very often. Those 7 are wider than the whole channel up here...pretty impressive moving that lump around. Thanks for sharing Capt. !!!!!
The ole Andrew Mac…. I love those stretched Dravos very impressive vessels. Great video and commentary as always Captain Kyle. Stay safe. We will see you on the way back down. Just got orders for 35 loads S/B with Memphis getting above -4.
I'm here at Vicksburg. The river is beautiful when it's low and slow with miles of sandbars. When it's high, I've seen many a boat make the turn at Delta Point and barely make it under the bridges Southbound.👍
Hey skipper I don’t know what the surgery is for but wish you all the best. I have enjoyed your videos for a long time and look forward to a lot more of them. Grew up on the upper Ohio and alway been around the river is what drew me to your videos. Thanks buddy and again Good Luck. 👍👍🙂
Thank you and glad you enjoy. My first watches turned loose as a young pilot were running that upper end of Ohio. We would turn southbound around Weirton, WV area and run down to Cairo. I love that Ohio, and often say that Cincinnati southbound at sunrise is one of the most amazing sights on all rivers for me. Hernia surgery.. recovering well as I post this 👍🏻
That was impressive boat driving by the Captain of the Andrew McMillan. I can see the reasons that you job has a big fun element to it, Kyle. Good choice to share with us. Thank you.
Quite impressive. I enjoy these videos... my grandfather used to be a captain on his pushboat when he worked for Blessey Marine Services... my dad also worked on barges too for a few years before he joined the Army in 1991... now he drives a truck with a dump hopper trailer.
I'm hoping to do The Great Loop in my 20' boat in May/June of 2024 and seeing this much traffic reminds me why most loopers don't go this route. I want to do this route so I sure hope I can stay out of their way!
1. Yes, but it’s been a while. (Quite a few videos on here making bridge) 2. I think the record is something like 72. My personal max was 63. It was actually two tows combined, as one boat was down an engine.. but it still was impressive sight.
Guys in bass boats dread that big of a roller wake. Dangerous stuff up pool 19 and north. You hit one of those that you don’t see at 60mph, you go airborne and just along for the ride. You hope you don’t stuff the bow when you come back down.
Dang…. That poses quite a dilemma for me. There is absolutely no way that could ever happen. But.. you are a fellow okie.. if I tell you that “you can’t”… it’ll just motivate you to get it done. Haha 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
Didn't know adm ran their own fleet. Makes me more infuriated at their mill I used to pull flour out of . Most stupidly ran and an inefficient nonsense I've encountered.
The reply is simply to illustrate that the "greenies" are grossly ignorant to what the real economy requires day to day. The removal of fossil fuels is 50+ years away from our economy. If what moves on the Mississippi stopped, millions of people would starve within a year. It takes fossil fuels now and will for a LONG time to come.@@mikes7639
I would welcome anything that makes our industry more efficient and safe. That said, I am highly skeptical of many things. But for some balance I get highly frustration with ignorance and folks scared or defiant to change. I believe the fazing out of fossil fuels should be accelerated.
Find a profession you love and you’ll never have to “work“ a day in your life. I really appreciate the passion you have for your profession.
Me too. Some much respect to these Captains.
Have a safe trip Capt and ty for saying hi 👋 my relief did pass it on 👍😁
Safe trip back north, captain. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome Florida Joe
I'm all about horsepower. Tow boats, trucks, motorcycles cars, ships, etc. Great video!
Hello from Mississippi
Yesterday on pool 4 I watched a 15 heading south and remarked we don't see that very often.

Thanks for sharing Capt. !!!!!
Pretty sure that's 49 (7x7) going by. Pretty impressive!
7-Wide and 7-Long is Hard to Believe. 🤔👍 Thanks Captain Kyle. 👍🙏
Where have you been and the towboater
Good evening Capt. Kyle that was a pretty impressive barge going and sliding that turn with everything sitting and moving.🇺🇸👍
The ole Andrew Mac…. I love those stretched Dravos very impressive vessels.
Great video and commentary as always Captain Kyle. Stay safe. We will see you on the way back down. Just got orders for 35 loads S/B with Memphis getting above -4.
That was fantastic! Wow you guys are impressive!
The really good ones make it look easy!
Hey Lyle if I remember right the ARGONAUT HAD TEN FOOT WHEELS. She is a horse.
I'm here at Vicksburg. The river is beautiful when it's low and slow with miles of sandbars. When it's high, I've seen many a boat make the turn at Delta Point and barely make it under the bridges Southbound.👍
Very interesting analysis.
P.S. Limassol is in Cyprus, another popular flag.
I love working on push boat when I was younger now I got older I got all kinds of medical problem that way I can not work no more 😂
That is some great navigation, 7 long 8 wide, I really enjoyed that, thanks captain Kyle.
I was on that alix ann backed in below you capt
Pretty…Pretty Impressive.
Dravo gave us some true river beasts. Originally the Argonaut, 10,500 hp.
WOW
That boat driver was really impressive!
Columbia River topcoat capt here, very impressive have good trip cap.
I was asking myself how was he going to make that turn, then he proceeded to show how it is done! Very impressive

Capt Kyle can u leave it on that would be perfect stop to watch or sleep to with some relaxing music
I have some “long form” footage, but really can’t upload until I get home as cell signal bandwidth limits uploading abilities.

I like watching skilled workers. It's definitely neat looking.
Wauw!
Very impressive 😎
My buddy runs front watch on the Andrew
read where that baby has 3, 20-645s for power
As Capt Ed Carte would say "that Andrew Carroll has the Hosses under the hood and the powder in behind". Yes Kyle that is impressive.
Good stuff
Is the river back up some or still low?
7 wide and two sounders!? Lmao Buck would have been running 6 sounders and two deckhands with depth line! 😂 good times
Hi Capt Kyle, I have a couple of questions. 1 do you ever go up to Fort Madison Iowa and 2 what is the max barges a tow boat can tow?
1. Yes, but it’s been a while. (Quite a few videos on here making bridge)
2. I think the record is something like 72.
My personal max was 63.
It was actually two tows combined, as one boat was down an engine.. but it still was impressive sight.
@marktwained wow that's something else! Thank you for replying
7x7 is a full load

That big girl don’t go up that far. I’ve seen 7’ swells behind a few like her.
Makes freight train HP look like small potatoes
The 7x7 look empty. After looking closer he may be partially loaded.
That’s impressive
Hey fellow okie, what's the chances that I can ride on the front of those barges, with some beer and a lawn chair.
Dang…. That poses quite a dilemma for me.
There is absolutely no way that could ever happen.
But.. you are a fellow okie.. if I tell you that “you can’t”… it’ll just motivate you to get it done.
Haha 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
Where?
Got the PS5 up there Capt.??👀
Just another thread thru the needle workn' the water...
What kind of Oklahoma math is that brother? 😂 get some coffee 👌
They gettin' down
Did you Retire?
Where is this?
164 fleet between Baton Rouge and New Orleans
@@marktwained thank you!
That would be a life!! I bet you tug boats captains have seen somethings!!!
7X7 IS 49 NOT 42
Nautical mathematics. 😎🤷🏼♂️
Tax haven out the wazoo. Maritime Iaw. Birth certificate.. keep on truck'in
WTF is wheel wash? In the NAVY we called this prop wash. Do these Boats not have props?
Yes. Just terminology.
Didn't know adm ran their own fleet. Makes me more infuriated at their mill I used to pull flour out of . Most stupidly ran and an inefficient nonsense I've encountered.
And the "Greenies" will have you running on batteries within 5 years...LOL
You mean so your grandkids can survive? Dont expect you to make any effort to help the situation
