I liked Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique but Rebecca absolutely killed it.

Mystique is a perfect example of how some mutants are good at offense and some are GREAT at espionage!!!!
I mean we have to remember mutations aren't exactly weapons for fighting they are just random power random people get so they are not going to have the same utility for the same things, some of them don't have to do with Fighting at all
The fact that Rebecca Romijin brought her own movement to Mystique so much so the other actors were able to imitate it when they had to play themselves as Mystique as themselves is incredible. Like besides the badass character she’s such an underrated actress.
I miss when films were more cinematic, that’s what stands x1-3 apart from other superhero films these days.

The make-up used in the original X-Men movies with Rebecca Romijin looks drastically better than what the newer movies used.
I think that first batch caused mild reactions to Rebecca but a severe reaction to Jennifer so they had switch up the formula for Jennifer
For Jennifer they made a body suit because she had skin reactions from the make up applied. She only had her face made up. Whereas Rebecca had make up on her whole body. And yes, you are right, Rebecca was a better mystique and looked better.
It’s so crazy how she can go toe to toe with wolverine. Her combat skills are overlooked.
Not really toe to toe she can’t kill him or knock him out as soon as he got a stab in she was done

I just find it risky, sure she easily out-combat wolverine but it seems so useless against a literal inviniclbe mutant, with a downside of having a chance of being stabbed

They are many versions of the actresses who take one the mantle of Mystique. They're are Rebecca Romaji, Jennifer Lawrence and Morgan Lily, but my favorite Mystique is Rebecca Romaji.
mine too. Which really says something since Jennifer Lawrence is an oscar winning actress (i think).
But that original cast from the first 3 movies is iconic for me. Its hard to think of anyone else in the roles.

I love rebeccas mystique in OG xmen and xmen 2… its so graceful when she fights, almost like a contemporary dancing, giving it a tribute to her name. I think thats what Jennifers mystique lacked.

Rebecca Romijn's protrayal of Mystique was the best, by far. Maybe her past as a model gave her a physical elegance and awareness of her body that Jennifer Lawrence just didn't seem to have.

Love me some Mystique I cant wait to see her in the mcu. I want them to show her feats such as her advanced strength (she can punch through steel) and create pockets in her skin. She has also been able to react fast to bullets and take out army of men. ( not saying 100s) but a lot. She can easily be in the universe bc she can be anyone at anytime and we will never know…

Jennifer lawrence loooked weird as hell as Mystique im sorry, it looked like a halloween costume on her. Rebecca made it look like she was actually Mystique. I think it had to do with the fact that Rebecca wasn't talking much. She actually was mysterious. Thats what made her Mystique so great

Always pissed me off so bad that Magneto just dumped her like that. She saved you from what you would consider a fate worse than death you dink. At least she eventually got her powers back.

@@jameshamilton8720 not shown on screen but due to magneto and rogue both having their powers back after taking the "cure" it would suggest it was only a temporary thing.

@@whotookthedoor I think Magneto was able to get them back because he's an omega level mutant so the cure wasn't enough. I guess maybe Mystique could've always used that machine that turned the Senator dude into a mutant in the first movie to turn her back into one
@Oscar Johns Could be. However Rogue also took the cure and is also seen using her powers in the same film later.
I like how they avoided doing the morph effect with Trask cause Peter Dinklage's hieght would've been really difficult to do for the transition effect. They would've had to move the entire camera down while he was transforming which would mess up the VFX a bit. Also I kinda wish the VFX artist's had given physics to her hair. Like in Captain Marvel, the Skrulls would transform and their hair would fall into place as if it grew during the transformation, for Mystique kinda just appears.

Fun fact mystique power is so powerful that there’s an episode on X men Evolution I believe and in that episode there’s a force that upgrades mutants abilities like apocalypse did in the movie and that force upgraded Mystique power so when she was changing to different mutants she was also able to use they abilities.
Yep. She was able to straight up alter her DNA. And in other versions she could give herself weapons and completely shapeshift beyond just physical appearances

- what will her costume look like (assuming she has one)?
- will she work for Magneto, work on her own, or both?, etc
I thought she died in Dark Phoenix?
@@merlinho0t she did, but that was the Fox X-Men films. Marvel will probably be introducing their own version of those characters in the MCU now they hv the rights back.

And that was established since his nose sniffed out Mystique posing as Storm; his nose tipped him off of that fake Storm. This has been bothering me for years, why didn’t he immediately recognize that Mystique came into his tent? Clearly Logan is not that horny for Jean that it would make such an inconsistency.
Perhaps she never needed to before so she didn't bother.

Logan is infatuated with Jean, he realizes that she is not Jean but another only thanks to the scars he has inflicted on her, otherwise he would never have noticed, with Jean, Logan lowers his defenses and gets screwed like a chicken, Mystique had chosen Jean's form well on that occasion.

Different situations and aspects, Logan is not in love with Storm, therefore he has no reason to let his guard down, according to their particular situation Logan was on the alert knowing that there was a shapeshifting mutant around, on the other hand Logan is in love with Jean, and when she approaches him, everything else disappears in front of him, furthermore their situation was also one of tranquility, a relaxing situation, no enemies are allies, therefore Logan had no reason to be on the lookout. So yes, the nose can also know it, but when he sees Jean, he doesn't care, he trusts his eyes, not his sense of smell.

2000 movie introduced me to this woman back then as a child. She was so mysterious and intimidating in these live actions films; unlike the trash that is the first class version. Hell, even animated mystique is boring to me.

Growing up watching the movies I liked how mystique didn’t really have any “superpowers” other than shape shifting. She was a great fighter, knew a bunch of smart stuff, just overall better than anyone else. (No one hate on me!)

As far as I know, she can only transform into other people. Only downside being that its purely cosmetic, meaning she can't mimic other mutants powers.

Only other humans and their clothes/accessories. It MIGHT be psychological and based on vision. Like Nightcrawler can only teleport to places he has seen, Mystique can only turn into a person she has seen.
I gave Nightcrawler example because in some versions they’re mother and son, so their powers might be working on similar rules, but not confirmed in the movies.

Her only weakness would be she can’t copy other people/mutant’s powers and doesn’t give their memories and she would have to portray her target perfectly even their personality and mannerisms, although she dose that quite well
