Just felt I needed to add to all of the comments congratulating you on the content of these videos. Please don't listen to those giving negative comments, this is YOUR journey to a new van and you've kindly decided to bring us along with you. I am looking to buy a motor home and though different, what you are doing is really helpful to me. I can find technical reviews when I need them. Keep going as you are, we love your videos!

    All the best

Hi Dan. We're a family with two small children who are a couple of years behind you on our caravanning journey. This is our first full year with our van. I've only just discovered your channel and I think it's brilliant. We may be looking at a newer van in a year or two so your videos are a great insight into the process. Keep up the great work!

If others don't like to hear them well it's simple, hit the close button and move on. Keep up the great work, hope you find a van that suits your needs perfectly sometime soon. Good luck and don't stop being you.

I live in New Zealand and our options here are not great for second hand or new caravans. I really like watching your videos and the fact that they are not technical is what I like about them. Just some very good practical ways of coming to a decision about what is the right caravan for you. The caravan we chose may be different but the process is the same and you have helped my thoughts on that process tremendously.

Angela & Dan, I discovered your blogs this evening and I’m hooked on your honest opinion!
I have been looking for a new van for the past year and have seen most of the models that you have shown. Perhaps I’m too fussy, but I have been unable to find a van with all the features I want with a decent build quality!
Every time I’m convinced I’ve found ‘The One’ my second visit always reveals something I missed and I’m unable to live with.
So I wait with intrigue as to which make and model you purchase. Hurry up and make your mind up!

Hi Dan, this has been a really interesting and informative series so far. To be honest I’ve no intention whatsoever of buying a caravan any time soon but it’s still interesting to see your process and that you’ve all taken the time to share your experience with us. I’m fairly new to this subject and your channel but it’s all been very clear what relates to what and your approach to what you’re doing. It amazes me some people are struggling to get it, frankly it’s surprising they’ve been able to switch on their computers!! Looking forward to the next instalment 👍🏻

Ignore the haters, moaners and "self indulgent" viewers. Like I said in a previous comment, our van, Elddis Crusader Mistral, has suffered quite a few things that have not gone according to plan and have required attention, but we still love it. As our dealer said, all new vans are, nowadays, built to a lesser standard, due to demand outstripping production. Your doing a cracking job in allowing us along your journey and, even though we know what were doing, a lot of people don't and your video's provide a very good reference. Keep up the good work.

Hi Dan, I never comment, but usually like your videos. I felt like the complainers always have a voice so I'd like to add mine to your supporters to bring some balance. It was your videos that got me and my family into caravanning after many years of me saying I'd never have a tin snail. We love it. I've learned loads from you and am enjoying the fact you are allowing us to follow your journey to a new caravan. You were clear from the outset about the process you were going to follow and while the timing wasn't great, the new Bailey reviews didn't cause me any concerns. Your videos are usually varied anyway and looking at those new models was a nice change of pace. Keep up the excellent work and I look forward to more pro tips, buying bugbears and happy travels.

Personally I think this has been a brilliant series. If people took the time to listen to what you said at the very start then they would realise it's just your personal journey.
That's said its been fun to tag along with you three and see how things can change so rapidly from what your preconceptions were to what you are thinking now. The best bit is to see how utterly confused and bewildered you have looked whilst going through the process. It should help the rest of us feel better when we hit that point in our own van buying journeys.
Keep doing what you do best, you inform us whilst at the same time entertaining us.

Hi Dan , remember, a new model from such as Bailey will have " Snagging issues " for the first six months. In other words they learn at our expense how to screw them together. They will make changes as soon as the public and dealers give feed back " Complain " is the word.
In regard to the comments about you on here, remember feed back is a gift! So just do not accept it and carry on as normal.
Why not offer your old van on here, one of the crew may really enjoy the opportunity to buy a well sorted van.
    Good stuff, carry on. Steve

Dan, well done. I like your process, plus you can't please everybody who has an opinion. I personally have found your journey facinating, I don't always agree with you, but that's why I look at your videos, just to seek your views. I have been a caravanner for over forty years, but can still learn something off of you. I think in my mind I know which caravan you'll choose as a couple. good luck and thanks for all the advice.

Hi Dan, just wanted to say ignore the negative feedback, we’ve really enjoyed your story, and you made it very clear that the videos were about how the caravans felt for you and your family. Not a review. We understand the feeling aspect as we experienced this finding our “one” for ourselves. We wanted a rear bath, side dinette. Our “one” turned out to be an L shape lounge, side bath and fixed rear bed. The L shape lounge provides a very spacious aspect for the two of us, perhaps a consideration for you as your numbers have now dropped to three. Best of luck with the search.

Thanks for your clarity an honesty. We have struggled with the buying processes over the years but there is nothing more powerful than “going with your gut”. This for us is a natural and somewhat instinctive reaction to a purchase that we only experience when the right choice is in front of us. However analytical we try to be, this emotional reaction often supports the decision for us and at this point the spreadsheet is shredded and the negotiation phase starts. Good luck with your search, only you will know if you get it right. Love your channel and very envious of the quality content you have produced from the start. Trev & Sue.

Thanks for taking the time to produce another good video, well presented, edited and produced. I for one appreciate the time and effort that goes into it.
If we all had same likes / dislikes of caravans we would all be towing and sitting in the same van !
One needs to accept these are your personal preferences and you are just sharing the experience.
Keep up the excellent work, don’t lose heart and enjoy looking for your new van.
You have helped so many newbies ( myself included) enter into the world of caravanning, and deserve grateful thanks not negativity.
Good luck and nice to see the camera back on a tripod - my motion sickness has now subsided !

Agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly Dan. This is about you discovering what you want to buy, there is no reason why this would be the same as anyone else or why your decision would make someone elses wrong. It's about choice.
Personally we were limited by what we could get on the drive, so the attraction you are seeming to have towards the better layouts in twin axle vans wouldn't suit us, but it's completely understandable and if Nicky had any say we would be towing an articulated trailer with expanding side sections, it's human to be drawn to the best you can find.
This is supposed to be a bit of fun, going along on Dan/Ange/Cloies journey, not a competition to find everyone's perfect caravan, it's not the Oscars.

Hi Dan. Great to see you come out and address these comments. Got to say I quite like the Phoenix 644 and will look at it in September with a view of changing our Pursuit 530-4. Shame they didn't fit a larger fridge but understand it's done to keep the weight down which is actually the attraction of the Pursuit and the Phoenix to us. Look forward to seeing the rest of your journey.

Hi Dan & Angela, those who comment in such away that the comments that they leave are not negative they're just nasty or I'll informed, they just don't get it. You're doing this to inform those who want to know, how to, can do and try to and not for your own ego. After all over 17,000 followers says a lot ! I can't believe some people making comments like that. Ignore them Dan, and carry on doing the videos exactly as you are doing, if they don't like it jog on. Not only are your videos helpful and informative for new buyers, they are also a great help to those of us that have been caravanning for years.
As for the new Bailey Phoenix, if that's the one that makes your tummy go funny then you have probably found your van. I wouldn't worry too much about some of the missing items, external BBQ point, external socket, roof mounted solar panel etc, you can use this as a bargaining tool with the dealer. The advantage of letting the dealer or manufacturer add these extras is that it won't affect the warranty, and as for the cushions, you can always change these to a colour that is not so migraine inducing. It's your choice and nobody else's, you are about to spend a lot of money so you need to make sure it's exactly as you want it, and as long as you are all happy with it that's all that matters. Those making sarcastic comments can quite frankly sod off.

Hi Dan & Angela 🖐. Dan there is absolutely nothing wrong with speaking your mind, if you think something about a caravan is, "gopping", "migraine inducing" 😂 etc, then that is your view on it & good on you. I like people who are down to earth & tell it like it really is.
Oh man, you have got me started now!!!
There are some very bitter & twisted people out there, it is so NOT any business of theirs as to whether you personally purchase the items or have a dealership for the product reviews you do, what it is to be bitter, twisted, spiteful & jealous....... some people really do need to get a life & get out more 🙄😉

Great video again guys. When you're in the public eye you will get people with opinions and negative criticism....you just will! Although it must be hard to bite your tongue, remember it is not your duty to reach out to those individuals and try to put them right. Nor should you explain yourself. It would take you forever, there's too many y numpties. You have plenty of fans without them, I'm sure they'll find the "unsubscribe" button if needs be. Keep up the great work, me and the family feel like we're on the journey with you x

Hi Dan. Just stumbled across your videos regarding finding the right caravan for you. We’ve just carried out the same process for our next van and we’ve chosen the same layout as you, fixed end bed with mid bathroom.
We short listed the Lunar Clubman SR, we visited various dealerships including Swindon, we must have just missed you as we were there Monday 23rd July 18, middle of the Great British heatwave and found the lunars have a problem with heat mainly on the edging of trim and kitchen worktop coming unstuck in the heat
After various visits to different dealers we found our perfect caravan for us which was the Bailey Unicorn Cabrera with end bedroom, mid washroom, decent size fridge, solar panel and lots of other features that were standard
To make the sale the dealer included a motor mover in the sale price
We used the same approach to choosing the right caravan with a short list of options and how the layout and feel suited us. Ignore the comments regarding more technical reviews, it’s your investment and how you use your caravan will be different from everyone else
    Enjoy your search

I am not in the market but am helping a friend make a decision on her next caravan by driving her around, as she recovers from an op, and I got fed up seeing her with no clear plan wandering about. I thought there must be info on youtube from an experienced caravan owner who has done a systematic appraisal of current models. I gave her links to your videos and told her to make a list of essential things she wants, a list of dealers, and get around as many as possible. We are still in the middle of the search but are now making progress. So, for what it is worth, we think your videos are good. Thank you.

Nice one Dan and Ang. Forget the bad comments it’s YOUR caravan it’s YOUR money so it’s YOUR choice. Go for what you want. I agree from a Bailey owner the battery box is in the wrong place. We have a bbq point and in three years of owning our Bailey have never used it once always use a bottle of gas it means also we get some more noseweight! Enjoy your anniversary when it comes around. If you buy a Bailey. Lady Bailey caravans are amazing you even get a two free night stay at a caravan site! They do loads of choice too. Happy hunting. Cheers Oliver

Good responses to daft points dan .. it’s your opinion. If there was a perfect van out there everyone would have it.
I’m pretty sure all extras you’re looking for can be done by the dealer to maintain the warranty.
For the first time ever we have a dual full hob .. it’s never been used and probably never will .

Well Dan two years ago we were doing the same as you guys, trying all the models to see which layouts would suit us. We found a 4 berth Bailey rear fixed island bed version which was great because we had decided that her and I would not want to have to make up a bed every night and the lounge and table area could stay prepped for meal times and still be a lounge. Our conclusion after a few trips was that the van was a brilliant and just like a large two berth for us but given that the bedroom takes up half of the van more than two persons would be difficult (we had no awning)
After the year was up we exchanged it for a motorhome but chose a large lounge area instead of the fixed bed arrangement and now sleep on the two sofas made up a singles. Much better for getting to the loo... As for the over cab bed, this is used as storage as were far too old to be climbing up and down stairs, that's why we live in a bungalow. .
I hope you find exactly what you are looking for and with so much to choose from it is not easy. Take your time and try to be very sure, it's still a lot of money. Good luck and thank you for all the nice informative videos, we enjoy them very much.

Hi Guys great vlog as usual,I can't believe some people have to ask those types of questions, when it was clear what your intentions for the vlogs were from the start.
You do make me laugh when describing the layouts and interior, but you're right about the cushions .😋It would be a very dull world if we all liked the same things . Carry on exactly as you are and don't change anything for negative comments .
    All the best Dave

We have the layout you want, in our older Elddis. It works great for us and, as you say, it is personal preference. Your comments and information are always viewed with interest, even if I don’t agree. Keep up the great work and, enjoy your holiday.

😀 Knew it, knew it, knew it. I said to Neal, Angela will like that caravan! I agree with you Dan about those cushion covers, they are hideous, easy changed tho. Good luck caravan shopping what suits one doesn't suit another. We are loving watching your journey on finding your new caravan, it's interesting to see what you think on a personal level not just as a caravan review. Happy Shopping Callie x
p.s if you can't find the caravan of your dreams, we've got a 6 berth airbeam VANGO tent that might be for for sale. 🤣🤣🤣😘

Do not let little things like outside gas connection and electric outlet stop you from buying your favourite layout, as these things only cost around £35.00 each to buy and can be fitted in roughly 1 hour per item and positioned exactly where you want them without any damage. Good luck and remember extras are obstacles that can be overcome.

Hi Dan have really enjoyed these videos on your new van buying process. We have just changed our van to a new one (gone from unicorn Vigo 3 to unicorn Vigo 4) the only thing that has annoyed me about new van, the battery box which is in the floor is not as deep as last van so had too buy new battery (banner battery) just bare this in mind makes me think Bailey and the battery company had some sort of deal going on, enjoy the rest of your buying journey.

Shame about some of the previous negative comments - Never thought the buying videos were going to be technical - I thought they were going to be EXACTLY what they were - going along with you - .
We spend a long time choosing a new unit - we look at layouts we check specs and we visit to get a feel for sitting in them. We also sometimes walk in and immediately turn right around and walk out because the decor or colour scheme is HORRENDOUS - to us. So your comments rang so true on some occasions. - The reason we are so thoughorgh in choosing is so that were happy with the final choice and its right FOR US. Because we're secure in our choice - we have no problem in someone HATING the colour scheme - because last time we checked we sit in our van happy and your not there so the fact you may not like our cushions and curtains doesn't matter -we do and you bought something else.
So thanks for taking us along on your search its been very interesting and appriciate all the work you put in making the videos. Happy Hiunting

Hi Dan. I have been watching for a few months now and live these videos. Very honest and very helpful. We are going to pick up our first Caravan on Friday (A 2nd hand Ace Award Morningstar 2006 4 berth) Totally agree with how you feel in the caravan being of huge importance. This is hopefully going to be a great starter van for us. If you know anything about it I'd love to hear your thoughts but if not wish us luck for our first trip this weekend :-)

You certainly started that video looking fed up! Our process for choosing a caravan was a lot more straightforward - it basically amounted to "What have they got that we can afford?" and, from that, "Which works best for us?". With a tiny budget, we went into it knowing that we would have to make massive compromises and, in fact, ended up surprised by just how nice a van we could get for a couple of grand. Buying an old caravan has its own set of challenges, of course :-)
Good luck with the hunting - I'm enjoying following your thought process. Kev

Hi Kev, oh no we were not fed up - we were unbelivably hot...
How you have searched for your van is a great way, and i will be using that as an example. im pretty sure that no matter your motivation, there will limiting factors to help reduce the list and filter out caravans that wont do it, either by berth or budget or what ever.
      Thanks for your support.

Hi Dan, looks like I guessed right on the Bailey Phoenix 640 being the next caravan for your family, great choice too. I would have gone for the same one myself. Those cushions remind me of a video game I played on, called intelivision back in the eighties, game was called q'bert. I kept seeing the coiled snake bouncing down the blocks. Lol :-) hope you do settle for the 640 Dan, I love it. Good luck with the sale of the old van too. Another great video. 👍

Hi Dan keep up the good work. I think all the caravan brands have had such big face lifts recently the difference between 2018 models and 2019 will be marginal. I am looking for a 2018 end of model deal. It would be good to know the recall levels from the manufactures. My friend purchased a brand new swift this year and as had quite a few issues with it. Quality and aftercare is a huge factor to consider for such a huge purchase. I am not knocking swift I own one and it's been great. As a designer of products I look at the build quality and material specs used for the build. There is so much new technology in them nowadays the manufactures are often in the unknown terrotary.

Love them, your choices are not mine but the layout selection process is exactly why I like them, it’s making me think about choices we will have to address with the DVLA shortly to make a C1 at 70 medical decision. Do I have to return to caravanning, as 3500kg with the low personal allowances left give little choice in the motorhome arena with the layout we want without spending big money. So, I await with interest the next stage where you address weight, especially as you may have to eat into your personal weight allowances by adding extras.

This has been a very interesting series on buying a caravan.
We bought our first caravan last year and I'd watched most of your excellent vidoes to help me make my choice. We don't have the same range of caravan dealers in my part of the world so I read all the caravan magazines, caravan forums and TH-cam videos before my wife and I spent 2 days at the October NEC show to view the shortlisted models. We had a checklist and one particular caravan ticked most of the boxes for style, layout and amenities. The Lunar Clubman SR impressed both my wife and I. But it was priced considerably above our budget. However a canny saleman noticed our interest and brought the price to within shouting range of our intended spend. I'd read on the caravan forums that good deals can be had at the Caravan Show and this proved to be the case.
    Keep up the good work.
PS I'm shorter than you so the bulkhead at the end of the SR's rear bed isn't a problem though I have managed to stub my heel on it a few times!

We took just as long to decide on layout. As we are starting out caravanning it was a choice of start at the bottom, or spend a bit more. So, whatever you decide, like and dislike, it’s up to you. That’s what caravanning is all about.
