This is probably one of the best live performances i've ever seen from any artist, ever; Nobody does it like them, truly. Tyler wrote this song in honor of his Grandma's passing recently, for which he was present, as well as to go with the plot of the show. It seems like the lyrics are largely from his Grandma's perspective, talking to Tyler, which makes it even more of a gut punch. You can just feel all that grief and love pouring into every single note Tyler sings, especially with that scream, and it's just captivating and utterly heartbreaking at the same time. I honestly can't listen to this song very often, or else I end up breaking down, myself!
It is a beautiful performance - and heart wrenching at the same time. It brought back a lot of memories for me - not that they are ever forgotten really. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
This song came out on the eve of my father’s death anniversary. The first few times I listened, the meaning didn’t hit me, but when it did, oh boy. I cried so much. It evoked so much pain and grief in me. Tyler said that he was inspired to create this song after the experience of seeing his grandmother pass away. I see it as the song being sung from the perspective of the person that’s passing. This live performance is just perfect in my eyes. That scream was so unexpected that it shocked me so much and it’s like a release of pain. Loved your reaction, thanks for sharing.😊
Thank you for watching and commenting. Sorry about your father. Yes, I took it primarily from the one that is dying as well. This is an amazing performance - and the scream adds to the sense of pain as well. 🙂
Glad to see you enjoyed this. I think you are on the right track about it being written about death. Tyler recorded an intro for the music video version of this where he talked about the fact his grandmother had just died as he was writing this, so I think that is a lot of the inspiration. It is written in a way where it can also clearly apply directly to what is happening in the show, as well as possibly to the lore (some people have thought this could be from Clancy's perspective if he is potentially becoming a bishop or changing in some way). Regarding the show, I hadn't seen it either but decided to watch it when I saw TOP had recorded a song for it. I overall enjoyed it; I don't watch a ton of animation but I will say the animation is done extremely well. I'd suggest watching the first three episodes (the show is structured in basically arcs of 3) and see if it grabs you. If you still don't really care then it's probably safe to drop it.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I only had time for one episode of the Arcane show last night, but it seemed good, so I'll watch at least a couple more. That's a good idea to do three if it is structured in that way - and then decide. Have a great day! 🙂
My pleasure, Sherry. What an incredible song and performance! I've only watched the first episode, but it did have some great music. I'll probably watch some more when I have time. Have a wonderful day! 🙂
Are you Canadian? I’m a Senior Clickie like yourself and am also a huge fan of Bruce Cockburn’s. I am always wishing to find others who share that connection. Anyone?
I am Canadian. I wouldn't say I was a huge fan of Bruce Cockburn's, but I used to enjoy some of his music. I should have another listen and react, perhaps. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🙂
Hello again! I have never played league of legends but I’ve watched arcane (which it has been confirmed to not be cannon to the main lore but is a side story like a lot of the game apparently has) I would love to see you react to all the songs in the soundtrack from artists cause there are so many, I recommend watching arcane as well I’ve seen a lot of different therapist TH-camrs recommending it and loving it after seeing this song, this song is near the end of season 2 so I can’t really explain the show reason for it but Tyler wrote it for 2 reasons, 1 for the show, and 2 about the death of his grandma, there is a video somewhere on his channel I think where he explains the thought process
Hi! I have watched the first two episodes now. I might continue with it - probably will over the holiday as I'll have a bit more time (although there is always lots of work to catch up on that I never get to when I'm so busy with clients - lol). I don't usually watch animation, but it does seem very well done. 🙂
I haven't seen Arcane either, but the song hits hard. As you have, and I have, experienced being there when a loved one crosses the line, this song is sad and beautiful at the same time. Tyler spoke about writing this song: th-cam.com/video/5UniIVuLmc8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=B5oRrpgvH14STyu-
Thank you, Stacie. I'll have a look at the link you sent tonight. I watched one episode of the show last night and thought it was quite well done so far. I'll probably give a couple more episodes a try and then see from there. Have a wonderful day! 🙂
Twenty One Pilots was one of two artists who initially motivated me to start this channel in the first place. Also, this song was requested - the others weren't. I will probably go back to the show and find out what the other two songs are (I don't actually know who sang them or what songs they are because I didn't listen to the video with all the songs on them - only a video with TOP's song.) Hope that helps explain my reasoning at least. Have a great day! 🙂

Thank you so much, Sherry! That's very kind. 🙂

I missed you so much. I'm so glad you liked it! Tyler's voice is fantastic, that scream! ❤
Yes, Tyler's voice in this is astounding. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
Thanks so much. I’ve not watched it either, everyone keeps telling me it’s good. The show has some great music ..❤

I’ve been really sad to see that so many reactors are choosing just to react to TOP, and not the other two equally amazing performances..
