I actually don't mind the first meeting. The disguise was good, as was the scene. Given the show-only friendship between them, it sort of makes sense. They resolved the question of Viserys' last words, but didn't make up in the end, leaving the tension intact. But the second meeting, where Alicent completely betrays her children, and basically joins Rhaenyra... that was terrible.
Show Alicent clearly loves Rhaenyra more than her children, and that's a problem. The friendship itself is not a bad idea, but the show writers took it too far. SPOILERS When Rhaenyra takes King's Landing in the books, her sparing Alicent is a big deal, because they have been bitter enemies up to that point. The show has completely defused that tension, so we can be certain that Rhaenyra won't even consider harming Alicent now.

No he was literally dying and was hallucinating he thought he was talking to his daughter, not his wife and she misunderstood what he was talking about!
@Luan193 Makes sense from Alicent's perspective though - a promised prince to unite the realm is pretty similar to a son placed on the throne as all the dragons roared as one.

@Luan193 Rewatch 1x3 and 1x1, Viserys talks a lot about how he saw in his dreams he place his son on the throne - that dream is the biggest reason he put Aemma through all those pregnancies. In episode 3 it's Aegon's second birthday and he was telling Alicent in tears about the dream and questioning if he was right to name Rhaenyra because he didn't know he'd remarry or have more children. With his dying breath he told Alicent (who he thought was Rhaenyra) to remember the dream, so natural for Alicent to think he was talking about that.
@ okay I did watch it now and I see your points but it doesn’t really change the fact that he still did not change the succession after the 2th birthday of his son in my opinion, he always did love his first wife Aemma more than Alicent and Rhaenyra did have a strong resemblance to her mother so it’s not a surprise that he ended up occasionally saying his first wife in there only surviving daughter so I would not be surprised if he only chose Rhaenyra because she reminded him of Aemma because he really did take Rhaenyra side on every single conflict that happened between her and Alicent!
