It’s really odd that they’d put the crab, an animal typically associated with beaches and oceans, exclusively in the mangrove swamp. In real life crabs can of course be found in coastal mangrove swamps, but why not put them in beaches and oceans too? They’d be great ambience. Honestly Minecraft’s beaches could use some sprucing up anyways. Give them some rocky crags and tidepools and palm trees
I have a suggestion, they can add the variant with the claw thing spawn exclusively in the mangrove swamps while having normal variants spawn on beaches and oceans and just make them edible or something.
Why is it only the wolves that get fancy armor? Sometimes, all a guy wants is to have a flying battle cockatiel that will vanquish his foes at his command.
Exactly. This is why7 I will vote Crab. Best use overall and the possibilities are kinda endless depending on how devs choose to implement even if it's simply a few block extra reach it's so much more groundbreaking than stupid Dₒg ₐᵣₘₒᵣ
@@SuperDestroyerFox Ths same way, wolf armor could be leather level. With needing a scale of armadillo, I hardly see how you could fuse it with diamonds or whatever. Plus, at least for me, they should just make wolves regenerate heals naturally, maybe not fast but enough so that it doesn't die every 5 minutes. On the other hand, extended grip is truly useful, cause in many cases you are not able to just move a block on the side, which I know sounds stupid, but how many time have you tried to cut a birch tree and had to build up to get this last wood? If we want to talk about penguins, their addition would be nice, only if we get a brand new type of boat, like a big one, in which case I'm all for it, but rn, it's quite useless.
It is crazy that the mob vote is not a community idea based vote. It would solve like all of these problems. Let the mojang team pick out some of the best ideas and then the community votes on the one they like most. No "only one of these mobs can come to the game" just fun, and if your vote doesnt win, you can probably bump the idea again next year.
@@Mark6O9ok? this is vanilla we're talking about, You could have a mod that gives 200 block reach, or makes wolves immortal, or makes boats travel hundreds of blocks per second. Modding isn't something you should bring up...
@@sharkt9877 Wolves are useless, they deal low damage, die fast and have really dumb AI, at least cats are useful when sat for dealing with creepers, dogs just exist do be tamed and forgotten, armor wont make them immortal, they'll just die a little slower
We need to know more about penguins. Do they speed boats up when they are a passenger or just when they are nearby? If they are a passenger, will they hop out and paddle behind the boat like an outboard motor? Will this effect stack with ice? Penguins could be revolutionary for travel if they work this way.
Crab is the only mob that has no huge mysteries associated with its feature. Nobody knows what the dog armor would actually do- Would it only raise defense? Would it change the dog ai in any way? Is it customizable or will it only be an ugly brown shell? Nobody knows how the penguin speed increase would function- Does it work when the penguin is in the passenger seat or only when it's swimming near the boat? With the crab the only two unknown factors are how long the reach will be (even a one block of range will be a 33% increase from normal survival reach) and if it'll need to be equipped in the offhand slot to work (most likely the case).
Who doesn't place blocks in Minecraft? Everyone will be able to enjoy the reach increase ^^ Great video Sarc, you should do more like this one! Not every video needs to be a giant amount of work!
@@SimplySarc But the problem is, just how far will the extended reach be? Mojang didn't explain that and thats one of my reasons why I'm not voting the crab. If its just a 1 block extended reach, then its not worth it.
What really confuses is me is that they didn't put the crab on the beaches, or at least some variant of them, and use it as an excuse to make sand layers (like snow layers!). The crab is exclusive to such a rare biome, and our beaches are so desolate and 2009-looking! I think I'm team crab. But I would also love armadillo (why lock a decade-overdue feature to make my buddy stronger/more safe behind a vote, though..). Penguin, however, would just be another panda or dolphin.. a fairly cute ambience mob with a mechanic I'll never really mean to use but will be exploited by some minecraft wizards by locking the mob in some boxes along their super-iceway.
typically your horse isn't the target for combat, but your wolf is if you utilize it. I think armor would be a good way to revamp the feature as right now wolves are too squishy to be as useful, which is why they're often left at home. @@dragofire202
@@dragofire202 It looks cool. Um, I guess just that extra bit of defense. The one main thing the I think Sarc missed was that Wolves are like the only tameable mob in Minecraft that you might use for hunting and fighting. It makes a lot of sense that you'd want to give them armor if you're using them for that reason. I still think that this use case is kinda niche and that crab claws would probably be better in general. but wolf armor could be pretty cool.
@@dragofire202 wolves are for fighting, therefore them taking damage is uncommon. this will also decrease the chance of a creeper accidentally blowing your dog up, which has less health than horses.
I mean that's kinda how a lot of the mob votes turn out in general The infamous one was basically just Chillager vs Glow Squid, you could argue that was more a case where instead of one thing being useless it was two, but in fairness to the Glow Squid I think a lot of folks who voted for it were optimistic something cool could've been done with it, and Mojang just did the usual Mojang thing and proceeded to drop the ball and disgustingly underutilize the Glow Ink Sacs, whereas the Moobloom had a 0% chance of doing anything noteworthy Then there was the one where the Allay won, where it was a toss up between it and Copper Golems and the eye bush was just kinda there, but at least the Allay's concept is hard to screw up so it turn out to be fine for a win And of course there's the one the Sniffer won and kinda did end up being a case of "2 useless, 1 cool" again, and somehow Mojang once again dropped the ball when it came to actually implementing Sniffers It really feels like Mojang just deliberately does some of these mob vote winners so half-baked so the modders in the community have an excuse to try building upon them, but that's definitely more on the side of "personal conspiracy that only just makes myself mad at something that's probably not actually be true"
@@WhimsicottFanatic Extremely L opinion. "and Mojang just did the usual Mojang thing and proceeded to drop the ball and disgustingly underutilize the Glow Ink Sacs" Average Mojang hater pessimist 'mojang always messes everything up' when glow ink sacs are extremely useful for building. I love seeing the item frames and sign text pop "the one the Sniffer won and kinda did end up being a case of "2 useless, 1 cool" again," The Rascal would have been very fun to play with and the tuff golem would have livened up bases a lot while providing a more minecrafty item pedestal.
No they didnt. They just lack the ambition and imagination to come up with truly useful mobs or coherent design choices. Everything is just half-assed so might aswell bet on the crab.
honestly in the case of the wolf, its a case of classic features being grandfathered in. you can still regen their health by feeding them, but they take damage so often it's not enough to save them in active combat. the armor has been something ive seen suggested for forever now, and if this is how we get easier to use wolves im all for it.
I mean ive never lost a dog to mobs, a majority of my dogs die from fall damage or lava. Their ai sucks and in my case they arent even worth taking into combat.
With how focused all three are on aesthetics, I wish they'd just do all three of them. My other grievance with the Claw, is that it takes up yet another inventory spot, and when inventory management is already an issue, it's hard to justify for anything other than bringing the zone to life. The sad part is all three of this zones could use more life and could really benefit from the mobs being added.
They presumably would need water, so they wouldn't work in the Nether. And a status effect like Dolphin's Grace makes no sense in the context of a boat
I think I’ll be voting for the crab, but i seriously wish all these mobs would be added! there is hope considering the swamp ended up getting updated eventually despite losing to the taiga in the biome vote.
But with the biome vote they SPECIFICALLY SAID all of them would be added, the vote determined order. But they haven't said that for any mob votes. Also they still haven't added the badlands update
The crab has functionality that will be used regardless of time spent on a world and is helpful in almost every situation The armadillo is only helpful if you use wolves in combat, especially multiple The penguin is only helpful if you're on a boat, and the effect most likely doesn't last, much like Dolphin's Grace The crab is by far the best option, due to it being the only one that is designed for the longevity of this game
The crab will not be used in 99% of worlds it. Spawns in the mangrove swamp and can give you 1-2 blocks reach its gonna be a mob that's cool to come across but gets no use.
i hope the armadillo armour isnt just like giving the dog more defence, but also allows the dog to curl up like an armadillo when in danger on low health to become invincible or near-invincible. plus it would be adorable. regarding dog breeds: i rarely armor my horse because it covers up the pattern, and would likely do the same with my dog if armor and breeds were both introduced.
After every past mob vote, I wouldn’t speculate, especially with what happened with the Glow squid ( OmG aCtUaLlY gLoWs ) and the sniffer ( NeW fRuIT )
We can speculate, but we must not let it affect our vote. We all thought "What if" with the sniffer, but it turns out the goblin guy would've been better in the end, all because we made massive assumptions on what it would do. Based on what we know, the wolf armour will protect the wolf, that's it. The crab however, is guaranteed to extend reach, and you can guarantee it'll be at least 1 block, which is huge.
The crab claw looks functions very similar to the extendo grip from create. At least on paper, however i do feel like its the best option as having an extended reach is always useful. I really dont think the armadillo armor is worth it as i never actively played with dogs, they are just way to jank, also they die way to easy, which the armor could solve, but im unsure how much protection it really gives, its also just one level of armor unlike horse armor which comes in 4 different variations and protection ammounts. The Penguin might be the second best option, especially when going on an ocean raiding spree, like ruins for sherds, monuments for sponges etc. -However it would be much much better if the would give us fins or flippers to move faster underwater, and not just boat fins, but from past mob votes we really cant expect any more than what is shown or said in the videos.- penguins are just dolphins for your boat, so no way we are getting fins.
@@theapocalypticfish i think youre thinking almost too practically, taking a wolf anywhere is dangerous and we all know how attached people get to their pets. extended reach isnt that big a deal for the most applicable thing for the large majority of players, but wolf armour allows more enjoyment to be had with some of the older features. (+ the armadillo helps the savanna biome which is REALLY lacking)
@@Warm_n_Crowzy oh I agree the Savannah is definitely lacking in some apartments and I do hope the next biome that gets updated similarly to How The Mangrove swamp was a failed biome vote I hope we get that one Savannah update eventually.
If nothing else, I'm glad that each mob actually appears to have some interesting use case that isn't just "isn't that the same as [already implemented debug tool/mechanic]?"
I agree and when I did the math in the worst case scenario the crab added one block of reach. vertical down would be 33% faster horizontally would be 25% faster of course worst case scenario and that is also not considering needing to reset and re position your self for the next layer. when I tested it in game for a 29 block long 4 block high wall 3 reach top down was 35 seconds 4 reach from the side was 25 seconds this ends up around 40% faster which does seem to add up because of reseting wasting about a second. still should have tested it with a mod. I think they would double reach which obviously is at minimum twice as fast. if you don't count down time.
@@pepinopepino7 yeah I already had the math prepared after someone said it wouldnt save that much time, well depending on the situation 25% is HUGE, and I think it will be better than a single block of added reach so a lot of people are under estimating the potential of the extended reach. though I do think they should just add Dog armor anyway that is not something that should be in a mob vote, same for extended reach that is important enough and obvious enough no sane person would make you vote for that. I do believe they are very likely to add dog armor however I am not sure if they will ever offer extended reach again they rarely do stuff like this for building. I wouldnt be surprised if they are adding a full armor set for dogs this update, why just add one, at least that is my hope.
I think it would be cool for there to be an item that makes a wolf protect a certain area. Like a bone that when placed, the wolf will stay near it and kill any surrounding mobs.
@@valentai_777 Foxes are constrained to a lead and are very limited. Plus, even if foxes could do that, having an extra use for wolves would still be good.
the crab is the best option and it's not even close. Being able to build even one block further away is exponentially more useful than anything else they've added in a long time. Plus it's cute
I also think the crab is the most useful. Dog armor will probably be like horse armor (no one uses it). The penguin is cool too, but only if it gives the boat a speed boost while its sitting in it. If its just like the dolphin and gives the boost when its swimming near you, its kinda pointless. (Sorry for my bad english)
@@KattenbIf there’s a skeleton horse around, might put a saddle on and trap it somewhere only to forget it exists, but as for regular horses, they’re just another source of leather
but often times we leave them at home because they're too squishy to take on adventures. Armor would help solve that problem and get Mojang's eyes back on wolves as a mechanic, which will hopefully prompt more features for them.
not if u accidentally hit your own wolves with your sharpness 5 sweeping edge 3 knockback 2 fire aspect. they'd never make dog armour survive that, and unless they improve the AI a lot (and i mean a lot) or implement friendly fire prevention without needing commands, or some other way to prevent player stupidity (impossible), wolf armour changes nothing. whereas they've never let the player's reach change while in-game before, and this could be very useful for command block players especially, and a completely new survival mechanic as well! armour for mobs is nothing new and neither is fast water travel. @@darkwraithraziel6362
@@darkwraithraziel6362 Even if they're not squishy I won't take my dogs on an adventure, they're just not worth the effort. There's no mob dangerous enough to warrant the help of a dog, no matter how tanky it is.
If we actually get armadillos, which seems like the best option (to me), I can finally get an army of wolves by my side that have extra defense. That’ll make my survival world so much more fun!
I really hope the crab wins, because armor for dogs and faster boats is usefull, but longer block reach can be good in literally any scenario, even in multiplayer mc
@ftimexp armor doesn't protect against fall damage and dogs push each other around when following you, like off cliffs. Of what use is a single dog in combat, more of a hindrance than help. Waste of time
Can we talk about Mojang's interpretation of baby penguins? Baby Penguins look very different from adult penguins, they fluffier and chubbier and most importantly they _can't swim._ Yet here Mojang is saying "hey look at this cute baby penguin" swimming around with poofy eyebrows just like the adults.
@@leetri The reason I bring it up is because Mojang is obsessed with animal "realism" in Minecraft for some reason. Or at least a twisted view of it...
All of these mobs should be added without the vote. In my opinion they are too unsignificant to be put in a mob vote, and the worst thing is, that the two mobs that will lose the vote probably won't be ever added to the game.
Welcome back! Realistically, I don't see myself using any of the functions of any of these mobs, so it comes down to: 1. Which one do I generally want more? (not functionally) 2. Which function has the most *niche* uses? 3. Which mob will we interact with most regularly? 4. Which one is most clear? (1) I want the penguins most, cuz they're cutest. (2) Boats have the most niche uses, particularly in minigames, while the other two functions are limited more to specific types of people. In create mod, I never used the extended reach beyond my testing with it. (3) Armadillos are possibly most visible in warm biomes, penguins are likely quite visible on shores, and crabs are practically invisible and I'll almost never see them. (4) Penguins are the clearest, just because they're simplest. Crab has the most up in the air design wise, and could feel very clunky, while armadillos are super super specific in use and we don't know what the armor will look like. Pengiuns get my vote!
Armadillos here in Texas are notorious for destroying gardens and flowerbeds (I personally struggle with them) I also shoot them whenever I see them. 30% of armadillos carry leprosy which killed millions of people. Wolves sit in our houses for the duration of our worlds, teleport to us then we knock ‘em into lava or into a ravine or they drown. Extra reach that the crab provides will benefit the community the most. We all build. If you vote for the armadillo, you will REGRET it, as armor will not make wolves any less useless.
I think wolf armor has tons of validity to it. Even if they were given the ability to heal naturally, it would help them survive against groups of mobs, or especially creeper explosions
@@unluckybean2800 Many mobs will change targets if something else attacks them. It would be nice to just let it do its thing without having to assist it with every kill. You could just command it to attack a zombie while you handle another mob, and know that the wolf will likely survive
Just as always, we dont have enough information. Crab: -how do we get the claw? -how many blocks does it extend? -does it have durability -how do we activate its effect? Armadillo: -how good is the armour? -can we trim the armor? -do we also fix the dogs' trash AI when we add this? (Or give them an additional use?) Penguin: -can we just shove one in the back of our boat to basically have a permanent speed boat??? Just like every other year there are way too many variables to decides which one is the best choice, they really need to start doing AMA's about these mob votesso we can actually know WHAT we are voting for!
For which mob to vote for I think the golem variant that will probably get announced tomorrow. :P Which golem type will they announce tomorrow hmmm.. the feather golem? The dirt golem? the ice golem? The lava golem? The diamond golem? Who knows. :P
The reason I'm voting for the crab is that once you get an elytra boats are obsolete. Not everyone has a wolf, and some who do don't take them on adventures, they just keep them safe at home. But everyone places blocks, all of the time. Weather you're building a starter house, mega base, caving, exploring the nether, fighting the ender dragon or fighting other players we all place blocks. Crabs extend your block placing reach so they are the most useful. That's why I'm voting for the crab
I’m voting for the crab for sure. I hope that the crab claw is a potion ingredient though, I think it might be annoying to manage an additional thing you have to hold or whatever.
Ill vote for the Crab tho i do think the crab claw is interesting i do wonder how will durability work on it ? would it be by block placed with it ? would it have no durability ? Essentially infinite uses, but what will we do with the overamount of crab claws we have left then ? If we farm this what else can a crab claw do ? can it be placed ? IF i say IF, its purpose extend to "Interactable block distance" instead of just "Block placement distance" it would have a new use in a lot of domains and playerbase: - PvP/PvE, if you trade it against a shield(defense) or a totem(support) in the offhand slot while having a sword/axe in the other, it could let you hit opponent a bit too much out of reach, Maybe it could even affect something people dont think about but the throwing arc of pearls could be affected if its a much more powerful hand. - Builders/Miners, thats what been shown but not the destructive part ! Having a bigger hand reach could let us place beds much farther in Netherite mining, or even have more efficient mining tunnels (remember that being farther away from a block grants you a bigger mining speed than close up) - Redstone, for those pesky stuff you forgot to add and are just a bit out of reach to replace/place IF the crab claw has other uses in idea, i could see it be a trophy item you can put on the ground, wall and ceiling. It would make it so that its a new block shape people can have fun with but also ... trigger it like a bear trap. This would make "Minecraft" way of making bear traps that traps opponents down on a block, other idea i had is that it could also be used in redstone as traps, yes but also a grabbing hand in contraptions, grab items and mobs like a claw catcher and release it when powered.
One problem I have with the crab is that its value as a mob hinges entirely on how good the crab claw ends up being, and since it spawns in such a rare biome, it doesn’t really have much else to offer. At the end of the day, when you vote for the crab, you're voting for an item, and if the item isn’t as good as we hoped, then we’ve all made the wrong decision yet again. As we’ve been shown in the past, we can’t always trust Mojang to make our dreams come true (no disrespect to the amazing employees at Mojang). Personally, I’ll be voting for the armadillo, as army buildings with dogs sounds like a very interesting idea to me, and let’s face it, Mojang will never add dog breeds unless they make a dog update, but I can only speak for myself. If you really would do anything to place blocks a little further, then I'd go for the crab too, but I’ll stick with the armadillo for now.
Well there is a mod for breeds/skins, but keeping that poor dog alive while it follows you everywhere is a nightmare. I agree, changing the dog and giving a better AI (Stay home vs just sit or follow), and a auto healing mechanic would be nice, but we have learned take what you can. Since I have scaffolding and dirt, I dont really need extra reach, and Blue ice works well with my boats, so I think the Armadillo is the best choice. Adding in the way the past mobs voted in have done nothing like we expected, Again, dog armor seems a really safe and useful option. Seriously if they were going to give us what we WANT it wouldnt be a mob, it would be slabs and stairs for concrete, Better lighting options, or (gasp for even the thought) an inventory upgrade. I mean who needs reach, we need a few more slots and better weapon/tool swap options. So after all my rambling I hope everyone joins me and votes for the little armadillo.
Crab. God please crab. I play modded, extended reach is a game changer please crab. We don't need nether highways to be any faster, boo penguin. Savannah is already getting updated in the future and dog armor really just doesn't matter.
Crab's ability is basically wasting offhand slot to reach probably like 1 block further, won't be better bacause of balance reasons. Wolves had no update since almost a decade, this is our only chance to give doggos some love ❤
The crab seems marginally useful for building. The other ones are pretty useless and will just be another ambient mob that sells plushies like 90% of new mobs. It would probably take them a month max to add all 3 but of course they would never do that.
Here’s my line of thinking: 1. Crab: Gameplay wise, it lets me place items further away, but I’ll loose an inventory slot and don’t usually struggle with this. I can already use command codes to place items further away if I want to. 2. Armadillo: I’d need to farm them, but my dogs would be stronger and not take up inventory space. Probably makes gameplay/combat easier. They’re easy to breed though.. 3. Penguin: Idk, I’d sail past them, see them sitting around, and not think about them again? They’ve already added a few methods to collect items, but I haven’t hound them particularly accessible.
if wolf armour is strong enough for wolves to survive more than a couple of nights (and make it so you cant hit them, like allays), than sure but i think extended reach is really more useful, perhaps even as an item you have to hold, because you could use it to mine blocks on the ceiling of caves more easily
@Kattenb i know, but how would they even limit that? because the block outline appears on the block youre facing regardless of whether you're holding a tool or a block
Something I've been wondering since the idea of wolf armor can be a thing, I wonder if said armor will have its own unique enchants to it. Maybe an enchant giving the dog regen when it assist in killing a mob, or maybe another enchant so that when taking fatal damage it'll instead teleport to your last spawn point and will sit there so it won't teleport to you. The dog will still be at 1 HP but hey, its far from harm at least should be.
Armadillo is a neat idea solved by mods years ago, but if it could lead us closer to a wolf update that would be amazing. Foxes can already hold weapons, what if wolves could "fetch" and use wooden items. All Fromsoftware fans want their own sword wielding dog.
They should add fangs we can put onto our dogs instead of regular weapons, so we can add some more unique enchantments like the did with the trident, like cripple for slowing down mobs or poison fangs, of course it should have some regular enchantments like sharpness and mending.
Lets assume for a moment that any mob we vote for will flop in implementation, because that seems to happen more often than not. I think the penguin is the better ambient choice, though I hope they make them spawn on icebergs too.
I would love if penguins dropped an ITEM that made your boat move faster, like the other candidates. imo that would make it the best choice out of the 3.
THE LEGEND. HE'S BACK! I missed you videos Sarc! Really enjoy them. Also the ones you made earlier in your yt career. Really fun and inspiring to watch. Hope you make more soon. When u have time ofc. :)
Omg welcome back, i missed your videos. I personally would want the armadillo because that way wolves would be more useful in the later game and you actually take them on adventures and not have to worry as much about them dying to a mob, it also opens the possibilities for enchanted dog armor. I personally think having extra reach is a bit unnecessary cuz you got legs to move towards the block plus scaffolding which becomes useless if the claw is added, there's also the factor that we don't know how much of an extra reach we get.
@@ChildishSoap id say the large majority of players in Minecraft aren't that proficient at building to the point where this would be actually useful. dog armour would make wolves more viable (for companionship, definitely not attack everyone just uses their own weapons bc like that's leagues better then some ai) making the world feel more complete and retrofitting a lowkey outdated mechanic to be useful. Basically, people like their dogs alive, no matter the skill level.
I feel like being able to craft armor for your dog makes the most sense, horse armor already exists and you can craft the leather variant, so why not a leather wolf armor? Perhaps you could find the gold, iron, and diamond versions from dungeons the same as horse armor. Or it's sold by exclusively Taiga villagers or something.
3:45 Sarc means Axolotl And like, thats part of what sets Axolotl aside from wolves, theyre not truly tameable, but regen and can dive Similarly foxes arent remotely tameable, but can be given weapons and "armor" Horses are basically just mounts, and armor fits the medieval aesthetic, as well as their hitbox being bigger and under yours gives a great reason to have armor Cats are great for scaring creepers and phantoms away, But dogs are basically combat only pets (in function) but are used almost exclusively as stationary decoration because of their relative fragility, giving them armor might see an increase in there presence when exploring or clearing mobs outside your base. The only time i see them ever is in hordes Or at the very least help keep them alive in skeleton farms
If the grab actually gave them a reason to add an “accessory” slot with your armor, sure. Crab would be awesome. Cause then thered be more accessories to come soon. Otherwise, Penguin is best imo. Clumsy and cute is op. Plus im sure its “sit in the boat with you” that makes it go faster. They hinted at that and didnt even show the boat sailing with them. So ppl thinking them being another dolphin mob is kinda bull
the crab will be as useful as the the rabbit feet making you jump higher that is already in the game. the other way that it could work is taking up an inventory slot and i don't know about you but for the past many years people have not been wishing for less inventory space when building or doing anything for that matter
I personally think they should add two different types of crabs, similar to what they did with the frogs, where the Mud Crabs spawn in Mangrove swamps, but then your average ocean crab spawns on Beaches
I don’t think I’ll really care a lot who wins this one but I feel like everyone who votes armadillo for the sake of wolf armour will never take advantage of it because they’re also the type of people to never let their wolves leave their houses.
Ikr. Heck, for me, even if i want my dog near me when traveling, I'd always lose it. Like, it just wouldn't teleport back to me. Just go get a texture pack for your dog.
For offhand reach: look at the extendo grip by the create mod. Its basically what they promise the crab claw will do. I personally never use it, but my bf uses it all the time. It's a decent feature and it works fairly well
The crab’s feature could be used everywhere in minecraft, whereas the other 2 are very specific. I do think that we need wolf armor, or more pet armor in general, but when they said “armadillo scutes” I got extremely worried. If collecting armadillo scutes is as tedious and long of a process as getting turtle scutes, then there’s no way I’m voting for it. Or maybe it might just drop a scute as soon as you kill it, but we are talking about Mojang after all. I don’t really care much for penguins. They feel like a sequel to the dolphin, but instead of speedy swimming it’s speedy boating!! 😱😱 (Not to mention that we already have ice to make boats go faster) With every mob vote I’ve always had the thought of why not just add all of them at the same time? It makes everyone happy and it sweeps away most of the toxicity from Minecraft’s name. I think Mojang has noticed how the vote divides the community, so now they’re adding mobs that are mediocre. They don’t affect gameplay all too much if they’re added so they won’t annoy players who didn’t want them, but at the same time made it so players won’t feel super upset that they’re missing out on a really cool feature with the mob that lost.
Crab is the best. Crab let's you work better with farms or repair them, since you don't have to undo all to reach the error. It let's place torches further away, therefore, safer. It can be used on minigames. Can help you on lava situations, were the botom is further. And there can be more uses
I think the Armadillo is the best option not just because we can make wolf armour but because the Savana is finally getting some love and its own specific mob!!!!!! We already have ocean specific mobs like the Dolphin. And Mangrove specific mobs being the frog. (can't reamber if not) but Mangroves are really rare.
with the dog armor i question how useful is it gonna be, how heavily does it reduce damage & if it includes fire resistance enchantment i will actually feel good about taking my dog with me mining as they for my taste too often just walk into lava
Honestly as someone who really does love to build and Minecraft, and as someone who has also used dogs probably once ever. The armadillo is easily my last choice despite seeming to be the community favourite right now. I also think that while the penguin could be cool, I both really dislike its design as well as the requirement to travel via boat in general especially in the early game. For me the crab is the easy winner. I like its design the most, I like its concept of extended reach the most, and I think it has the most potential. Though that's the fun thing about mob votes, I guess. Its all-personal opinion and experience that makes the vote and that's why they are both so fun and heart breaking.
I'm glad you adressed the viewpoint of actually seeing the mob in game. If the crab spawned on beaches it would have my vote, but im voting for the penguin purely because i'll actually come across it in game. I feel like a lot of the mobs from mob votes spawn in these strange biomes that you barely ever come across (besides the glow squid but i couldn't care less about the glow squid). But i have accepted that the crab is probably gonna win.
Honestly i feel the best thing is penguins they feel more of a longrun option basically wolf armor will probably get added in the future through other means the claw is well something that would seem cool on paper then be used for a couple of months then never be used again as well as penguins look and feel more appealing to me because it feels heavily like something from classic Minecraft and it appeals to more adventures tbh
Wolf armor sounds very cool, but when you think about the wolf's current AI, it sounds less cool. I hope Mojang improves the wolves and pets in general someday.
I've seen a lot of polls for the 3 mobs today and in every single one of them the Penguin was in a distant 3rd with crab and armadillo about neck and neck. I'm voting for the crab personally.
@@starwolven So were you originally not going to vote, but now after seeing my comment your gonna vote just to spite me? I'm just voting for the crab because the claw sounds pretty useful to me.
to think about it, its really good that extended reach could come as a beacon update instead of a kinda clanky item (although i did like the idea of makingpeople swap to something other than a totem or whatever in their hardcore haha)
@@SimplySarc For the record, I enjoyed it! I think that regardless if people are feeling it I do think it’s a topic that should be addressed prior to it being a major topic.
The idea of having a dog having just a tiny bit of protection and just have something to put your dogs on is a really cool idea, it doesn’t necessarily have to be super useful to be fun, you sometimes just want your dog to look good
I think the crab might be a similar situation as the grindstone. The grindstone’s feature was originally proposed in the form of a mob in one of the earlier votes. When that mob didn’t win the vote, mojang added the feature as the grindstone in a later update. The extended reach seems like too big of a feature not to add if the crab doesn’t win. My guess is that, if extended reach already got approved in their meetings, it will end up in the game one way or another. And to be frank, I don’t think a crab claw makes much sense from a logistics and realism standpoint. I think the beacon and potion ideas you discussed are a lot more useable. Anyways Team Armadillo all the way. They should give doggos natural regen and dog armor. Would be so cool.
Not to mention attack reach can be an enchantment whilst build/destroy reach is a potion effect, like haste. Also you sold me with the Armadillo, i'm joining the team!
@@RustyhairedAlp9575 sorry but the wolf armour is such a long-awaited feature that we can't ignore and sacrifice it for the sake of a rare ambient mob that gives a hand-buff that should've been a potion/beacon effect.
I feel like players would just not use the crab claw as much. You’d have to constantly equip it (if that’s how it will be used) and the reach/mobility of the player was already designed to be convenient. I could only see it being used to build long columns as building precisely from far away will require people to click on a small part of their screen. Plus, people usually just walk up to things when placing blocks not because they’re too far away, but because that’s what people are comfortable with. IMO, the mobs with the passive benefits are heavily underrated. People don’t usually mind dolphins until they encounter them and it helps them loot some ruins easily find some treasure. Penguins could give a similar experience. The potential for wolf armor seems heavily underestimated because people usually see them as cute pet dogs to keep inside a house instead of a hunting ally. Imagine you are out mining in a cave with a single pet cat and an armored wolf. Creepers and skeletons are scared away while zombies and spiders are distracted if they hit you and the wolf hits them.
I tend to look at Minecraft through the view of a late-game player, in which case the only mob that isn't next to useless is the crab. Even when trying to emphasize with people in early game, I simply cannot see how a slight boat speed buff or armor to protect a mob that doesn't need protecting is anywhere near as useful as the crab.
i think it'd be interesting if the crab claw extends your range by 0.5 to 1 block for every one you have on the hotbar, so it's a tradeoff between hotbar slots and reach
Unlike sailing on a boat or needing to protect your wolves, placing blocks is a basic and fundamental mechanic of Minecraft, it’s something everyone does all the time, so anything that improves this is really useful.
I think its weird as well that they put penguins only on stone shores and not in like ice spikes or frozen oceans.
Yeah. I mean certain species of penguins can be found on stone shores but I usually associate that with Puffins. @@reid5389

This person has the right idea!
Nah mojang have to be very selective about what they put in the game, this would just make more problems

I feel like they made the penguin useless on purpose, just to have a big fight between the other two
I mean that's kinda how a lot of the mob votes turn out in general
The infamous one was basically just Chillager vs Glow Squid, you could argue that was more a case where instead of one thing being useless it was two, but in fairness to the Glow Squid I think a lot of folks who voted for it were optimistic something cool could've been done with it, and Mojang just did the usual Mojang thing and proceeded to drop the ball and disgustingly underutilize the Glow Ink Sacs, whereas the Moobloom had a 0% chance of doing anything noteworthy
Then there was the one where the Allay won, where it was a toss up between it and Copper Golems and the eye bush was just kinda there, but at least the Allay's concept is hard to screw up so it turn out to be fine for a win
And of course there's the one the Sniffer won and kinda did end up being a case of "2 useless, 1 cool" again, and somehow Mojang once again dropped the ball when it came to actually implementing Sniffers
It really feels like Mojang just deliberately does some of these mob vote winners so half-baked so the modders in the community have an excuse to try building upon them, but that's definitely more on the side of "personal conspiracy that only just makes myself mad at something that's probably not actually be true"

Shouldn't even be a competition.
honestly in the case of the wolf, its a case of classic features being grandfathered in. you can still regen their health by feeding them, but they take damage so often it's not enough to save them in active combat. the armor has been something ive seen suggested for forever now, and if this is how we get easier to use wolves im all for it.
Wolf Armor has been a suggestion since 2013. Its dumb that its locked behind a mob vote.
Wouldn't the penguin boat speed buff, make boat on ice even faster, for more faster travel within nether hubs?
OOOOH you got a point there
I would assume it will work like thr dolphins and they will have to swim next to thr boat. And you cant have water in the nether so....
Not as useful as crabs still.
It'll probably work like dolphins, so no
They presumably would need water, so they wouldn't work in the Nether.
People always say "i wish the three mobs were added" do you not understand the concept of making a decision or...?

The armadillo is only helpful if you use wolves in combat, especially multiple
The penguin is only helpful if you're on a boat, and the effect most likely doesn't last, much like Dolphin's Grace
The crab is by far the best option, due to it being the only one that is designed for the longevity of this game
Not jus in combat, the reason people leave wolves at home is because its to dangerous for them to travel with them but with armor that changes.
The crab will not be used in 99% of worlds it. Spawns in the mangrove swamp and can give you 1-2 blocks reach its gonna be a mob that's cool to come across but gets no use.

Don't get your hopes up, the Mojang employees working 30 minutes per day won't be able to make that

I love how the title is "Which mob should you vote for?" and then the video chapters are "Intro" "Crab" "Conclusion".
-However it would be much much better if the would give us fins or flippers to move faster underwater, and not just boat fins, but from past mob votes we really cant expect any more than what is shown or said in the videos.- penguins are just dolphins for your boat, so no way we are getting fins.

vertical down would be 33% faster
horizontally would be 25% faster

when I tested it in game for a 29 block long 4 block high wall
3 reach top down was 35 seconds
4 reach from the side was 25 seconds

Welcome back! Realistically, I don't see myself using any of the functions of any of these mobs, so it comes down to:
1. Which one do I generally want more? (not functionally)

- PvP/PvE, if you trade it against a shield(defense) or a totem(support) in the offhand slot while having a sword/axe in the other, it could let you hit opponent a bit too much out of reach, Maybe it could even affect something people dont think about but the throwing arc of pearls could be affected if its a much more powerful hand.
- Builders/Miners, thats what been shown but not the destructive part ! Having a bigger hand reach could let us place beds much farther in Netherite mining, or even have more efficient mining tunnels (remember that being farther away from a block grants you a bigger mining speed than close up)
- Redstone, for those pesky stuff you forgot to add and are just a bit out of reach to replace/place
IF the crab claw has other uses in idea, i could see it be a trophy item you can put on the ground, wall and ceiling.

I think I’m going crab, but I wouldn’t mind the armadillo. I hope you can breed them, I want to create an army of crabs
Yeah, everyone who keeps saying "people don't use wolves so why do we need wolf armor?" Are missing the point
Crab. God please crab.
I play modded, extended reach is a game changer please crab.
We don't need nether highways to be any faster, boo penguin.
Savannah is already getting updated in the future and dog armor really just doesn't matter.
Same! I also gonna vote crab :) most useful and versatile mob out of the three.
Here’s my line of thinking:
Screw the division. Screw the disappointments. Screw the useless new mobs each vote added. Screw the mob vote. Screw all of it.

if wolf armour is strong enough for wolves to survive more than a couple of nights (and make it so you cant hit them, like allays), than sure
but i think extended reach is really more useful, perhaps even as an item you have to hold, because you could use it to mine blocks on the ceiling of caves more easily
Its for BLOCK PLACEMENT

*great grey wolf sif's theme playing*
mob votes never lead to updates
They should add fangs we can put onto our dogs instead of regular weapons, so we can add some more unique enchantments like the did with the trident, like cripple for slowing down mobs or poison fangs, of course it should have some regular enchantments like sharpness and mending.
A cool mechanic for dogs would be that if you give them a bone it sharpens their teeth and they do more damage
I agree, but there’s no way Mojang would encourage people to kill penguins.
THE LEGEND.
Not a builder?
@@ChildishSoap id say the large majority of players in Minecraft aren't that proficient at building to the point where this would be actually useful. dog armour would make wolves more viable (for companionship, definitely not attack everyone just uses their own weapons bc like that's leagues better then some ai) making the world feel more complete and retrofitting a lowkey outdated mechanic to be useful. Basically, people like their dogs alive, no matter the skill level.
@@Warm_n_Crowzy eh just my opinion
I just kill my dogs if they're taking up space
I doubt the dog armor would protect them from when the launch themselves into lava or off a cliff as they always seem to love doing
@@Warm_n_Crowzy Most builders within minecraft simply use world edit in creative instead of playing vanilla survival anyway. I would know.
When the world needed him most, he came back.
A good dev team would just add all of them.
Idea: just add all three of them.
I know wolf armour shouldn't be even be in a mob vote and mojang should just add it
they're made using the armadillo scutes, so i doubt they'll be able to be found in structures
3:45 Sarc means Axolotl
And like, thats part of what sets Axolotl aside from wolves, theyre not truly tameable, but regen and can dive
Similarly foxes arent remotely tameable, but can be given weapons and "armor"
Horses are basically just mounts, and armor fits the medieval aesthetic, as well as their hitbox being bigger and under yours gives a great reason to have armor
Cats are great for scaring creepers and phantoms away,
But dogs are basically combat only pets (in function) but are used almost exclusively as stationary decoration because of their relative fragility, giving them armor might see an increase in there presence when exploring or clearing mobs outside your base. The only time i see them ever is in hordes
Or at the very least help keep them alive in skeleton farms
I'm not voting. All 3 should be in.
Rabbit feet don't increase jump height at all though? Their use is to MAKE jump boost potions, they don't do anything by themselves
sherlock@@thevortexcrafter7060

Armadillo is the cutest tho😌
WONDER WHY THEY DON'T TAKE OUT WOLVES OUT OF THEIR HOMES... HMMMMMMMM LET ME THINK
This take you just made is so brain dead and legit explains itself
The armadillo. It’s the most useful one out of all them since it gives wolves armor.
Im torn between the crab and the armadillo, im kinda leaning towards the crab since its just plain cuter
Good choice :) And you also don't have to feel bad as it offers more usage than the armadillo.
Enjoy your OPINION. May the best mob win. 🤪
Hopefully we will see his return to discuss about the trial chambers, or the auto crafter, or copper bulbs, maybe even the breeze or mystery key
I think armadillo is a good balance of the 2 it isn’t too rare or common and it has a use
Yeah, everyone who keeps saying "people don't use wolves so why do we need wolf armor?" Are missing the point
For offhand reach: look at the extendo grip by the create mod. Its basically what they promise the crab claw will do. I personally never use it, but my bf uses it all the time. It's a decent feature and it works fairly well
Hit reach and block reach are different in Minecraft, so an important factor with the crab will be how it affects combat as well
Probably won't do anything in that regard.
Its ONLY block placement
It doesn't affect pvp reach, 100%
placing walls to run away/hide from bow shots, crystals, tnt, tnt minecarts, lava/water buckets, cobwebs, list goes on...
@@xebrax124 yeah, because this happens all the time in my survival world...
😱😱 (Not to mention that we already have ice to make boats go faster)
With every mob vote I’ve always had the thought of why not just add all of them at the same time? It makes everyone happy and it sweeps away most of the toxicity from Minecraft’s name. I think Mojang has noticed how the vote divides the community, so now they’re adding mobs that are mediocre. They don’t affect gameplay all too much if they’re added so they won’t annoy players who didn’t want them, but at the same time made it so players won’t feel super upset that they’re missing out on a really cool feature with the mob that lost.
Agree.
Crab sweep! 🦀 Like King Bdogz said
Crab is the best. Crab let's you work better with farms or repair them, since you don't have to undo all to reach the error. It let's place torches further away, therefore, safer. It can be used on minigames. Can help you on lava situations, were the botom is further. And there can be more uses
For the armadillo they need a grey one for the Jungle and a brown one for Savannah
And/or feather falling for all the times your dog breaks there legs on the stairs or going off cliffs.
All roads eventually lead down to...
Crab
Definitely has my vote :) it's the most useful and versatile
I'm glad you adressed the viewpoint of actually seeing the mob in game. If the crab spawned on beaches it would have my vote, but im voting for the penguin purely because i'll actually come across it in game. I feel like a lot of the mobs from mob votes spawn in these strange biomes that you barely ever come across (besides the glow squid but i couldn't care less about the glow squid). But i have accepted that the crab is probably gonna win.
Honestly i feel the best thing is penguins they feel more of a longrun option basically wolf armor will probably get added in the future through other means the claw is well something that would seem cool on paper then be used for a couple of months then never be used again as well as penguins look and feel more appealing to me because it feels heavily like something from classic Minecraft and it appeals to more adventures tbh
boats become obsolete the second you get the elytra..
and for mob moving, you usually use the Nether, where the penguin is obsolete
@@janjonas270 not really even with a elytra I still find myself being basic and using boats
Wolf armor sounds very cool, but when you think about the wolf's current AI, it sounds less cool. I hope Mojang improves the wolves and pets in general someday.
If we get wolf armor, maybe we can convince them to add variants to them while they're at it
I've seen a lot of polls for the 3 mobs today and in every single one of them the Penguin was in a distant 3rd with crab and armadillo about neck and neck. I'm voting for the crab personally.
Thank you based Dante. Many red orbs and S ranks to you sir.
I will make sure to vote-- specifically to counter YOUR vote.
@@starwolven So were you originally not going to vote, but now after seeing my comment your gonna vote just to spite me? I'm just voting for the crab because the claw sounds pretty useful to me.
the crab is probably the best one you get extended reach , the Armadillo is just dog armor , and the penguin is the same as the dolphin
Imagine how that would impact pvp, and the crab rave meme still is a plus too
to think about it, its really good that extended reach could come as a beacon update instead of a kinda clanky item (although i did like the idea of makingpeople swap to something other than a totem or whatever in their hardcore haha)
crabs are pretty cool animals and will probably make it in some way or another anyways, maybe even a species native to beaches haha
Why is the previous video about AI private now?
A few reasons, but ultimately I just don't think people were really feeling it.
That's sad to read, my inconsequential condolences.
@@SimplySarc For the record, I enjoyed it!
I think that regardless if people are feeling it I do think it’s a topic that should be addressed prior to it being a major topic.
The idea of having a dog having just a tiny bit of protection and just have something to put your dogs on is a really cool idea, it doesn’t necessarily have to be super useful to be fun, you sometimes just want your dog to look good
They better let us dye it though
I think similar to you but in regards to the wolf armor. We already have enough birds and mammals, why not bring in some crustacean representation?
Also, much more people wanna see wolf armor to the game, wich isn't really the case for long reach item@@RustyhairedAlp9575
The crab claw is basically a reinterpretation of the extendo grip from create.
Armadillo is the most useful to me byfar.
Nah nobody is ever gonna use the dog armour
@@ethanb4ughanI agree^
But, that's basically it. Crab claws are only useful for survival, but wolf armour is useful for both creative and survival players.
I think it would be nice to have more animals dedicated to the dryer biomes. So, I'll be voting for the armadillo.
