Did ye know that he was part of the historic Soft Machine line-up 'fore the band recorded its 1st album ? Then, 20 years later, the confidential recordings o' Soft Machine's first line-up wi' Daevid Allen were released on vinyl. 'Round 1974, the Gong group settled permanently in the southern Drôme countryside. They were 40km from my home. I saw them 2wice during the good Auld days in 1972, when Daevid Allen came on stage 40 minutes after the band started the show wi' a lighted candle attached tae a funnel an' the funnel on his head, dressed in a woman's long nightdress.

And you my friend had the pleasure to listen to the REAL thing in REAL time ! What an experience that might have been. Amazing years & amazing music. Thanks for sharing. I'm now going to look for some recordings of the Daevid Allen Trio ( 1963 !!! )

I can now remember the warm summer earth beneath my back at Glastonbury, 70's. My brain lifted from my head and sent to the star filled universe above me. ❤
Back in the days, I thought of Gong as gifted musicans whith a somewhat spaced out mythology, today in old age I embrace " a second naivity" and a will to believe. Gilli and Daevid are you still recieving? Are you still transmitting?
Where and when was this concert ? I had no idea that Daevid & Gilly & Didier were still live and kicking in the 2010-years ... Yes, I know that Daevid & Gilly are dead now, but I didn't know that they were still so awesome on stage shortly before.
