I remember this episode. What blows me away more than the reverend getting shot is that this little girl is like 12 and she's already dealing with a jealous psychopath boyfriend.
Isn't this also the same episode where Mary dates a guy that gets rough with her at the arcade or wharever that was, when he was trying to "guide" her on how to play it right?
I remember 7th Heaven always had some sort of lessons in each episode (at least at the beginning) and I think this one was about violence. How awful violence was.
It seems that's what sells, and, why the hell would his parents buy him or let him buy such music? You'd think they would monitor what kind of music he would listen to.
Imagine if you will the life of a simple small town preacher. He's a good father, tries to help his community. Teaches others to walk down the right path. Well little did he know that today he would be walking on the wrong path. A path that twists and turns. That's somehow both an exit and an entrance leading in the opposite direction directly to THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
I wish there was a laugh track from 2:41-2:50 where the audience starts cheering, clapping and at 3:04 the laugh track has the sound of the audience laughing
Detmstr exactly and look what happened Johnny got removed from the home because if his dad being in denial and his son ended up shooting Eric that what happens when a father is in denial.
@@ethanboyd6885 Unfortunately, the topic is real. I've seen news stories where a teen gets arrested for a horrific crime, and the mother shows his school photo sobbing ,"Oh, he's a good boy, he's my baby, he would never do such a thing," and it makes me sick.
They left out the part where his dad threatened to take the kid out of school and put him in a private school where he wouldn't be subject to insults like that. It was almost immediately afterward that he entered the room and shot him. Later the kid was tried in juvenile court and sentenced to be sent away until he was 25.
Denzel Torres probably doing lots to her name was Deena maybe controlling her this relationship between deena and Johnny wasn’t ever talked about I never heard anything about Johnny I watched every single episode of 7th heaven.
yeah this is a show where they jump the shark in nearly every episode there is one episode where simon is driving and hits a kid and they say the kid was high on pot so it was ok
Sad Johnny father was also in denial why because he was part of the problem the threats should have not be taken lightly look what happened either Simon or Eric would have been shot sad Eric got shot very sad.😒
In fairness, this was before Columbine. For the aftermath, they did an episode where Simon sees the signs, then reports it. Leading to the school finding a gun in his locker.
They’re 12. Many 12 year olds have bf/gfs… though immature. And many places in the USA, there’s 12-13 year olds who steal their parents guns or do bad things. Look at Detroit. Or recently that 14 year old boy Aiden Fucci who stabbed his peer 13 year old Tristyn Bailey 160 times in St. John’s Country Florida. Kids can be evil. Sorry to tell you.
Yeah, let’s just let the kid out who threatened his ex GF, Simon and shot a man out at at the age of 12-13. Because who knows what kind of angry things he could do next when let out as a freshman in high school. SMH. You must be privileged to have never been around a dangerous person or have basic psych101 knowledge of a very unstable person who would have done more than just shot someone like Eric. Had that kid not been taken away, he would have gone on to murder someone, ràpe his next girlfriend and all other TRUE CRIME things you hear about these days. Look at Aiden Fucci (14 year old who stabbed his 13 year old peer Tristyn Bailey 160 times). Aiden Fucci was just as mentally unstable as the boy in this episode. He had all sorts of weird stuff on his social media, talked about shooting and stabbing just like this kid. His ex gf said he threatened her JUST like this kid. And Aiden is getting life. Lucky for you to never have to deal with a sociopath. And also, it’s not up to Eric, but the judge. Educate yourself a little more on how things work. Your anger towards Christians is both pathetic and sad. Hope you find some happiness someday and stop blaming the ones who have their head on their shoulders. Yikes!
I know this is supposed to be a comedy channel and what not... but this episode is pretty dark and it involves a subject matter that really shouldn't be joked about. This was filmed in the 90s and yet the same issues are still at the forefront today. Hate me all you want... this was a good episode and the handled it pretty well. At point can we just let any tom, dick and harry own a gun?
Well they didn’t want to show him doing that. This isn’t like Supernatural or some crime series where they could get away it it. This was on the WB IN THE 90’s! There also wasn’t social media where they could see his Google history. This was realistic at the time of airing. Boys having magazines in their lockers was normal at that time. Using your locker for any real purpose back in the 90’s and early 2000’s was NORMAL.
The only thing that I never liked about 7th Heaven was the bias that this show had against guns. Of course a mentally unstable child with access to a gun is very wrong, BUT guns aren't the problem. Anyone with awareness, practice, and responsibility can own a gun and never use it, if they are never put in a dangerous situation.
Pamela Woodward -____- ... In case you're truly interested in knowing, I didn't hear about the scandal until long after I posted my cent about the gun bias. Not to mention, I've stopped watching this show a looong time ago. Too dramatic like your prudent response. I mean really? On what grounds were you basing your reply on anyway?
If that’s really the only thing you didn’t like about this hilariously exaggerated white show than that’s scary. This episode although actually took gun control seriously, surprisingly. With the number of school shootings we have it drew attention to the warning signs of unstable people. True guns don’t kill people, but they sure help. Not being anti-gun but the father should have at least hidden it in a safe.
Jaclyn Schilt could be lots of reasons Johnny has lots of problems if you heard the principal plus I am sure Johnny didn’t want the revended to take action against him and help Simon so very happy he got taken out of his dad home his dad was in lots of denial.
I remember this episode. What blows me away more than the reverend getting shot is that this little girl is like 12 and she's already dealing with a jealous psychopath boyfriend.
It might not happen in a suburb like this, but definitely in a urban area. Not totally unrealistic.

I'm almost to this episode in my binge watching. This is a scary episode for sure.
But sucks that someone has to get hurt for others to realize.
Kid probably found out about the good reverend exposing himself to his 13-year-old sister.
exactly
I need a clip of just the dad saying, “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” and then the reverend saying “People with guns kill people!”

the music and sound effects are hilarious!
I remember seeing this when it 1st aired! I was so scared when he shot the reverend!
Same I had nightmares and could not sleep
Atleast the kid did not point his gun at underage girls
Why did Eric Camden make that sound and smile when he heard his son say. Are u crying ?! LOL!
Young love?
Encourage his son to fornicate
I'm shocked to find out this show had 11 seasons in 11 years.
It was a hit show at the time

Then Johnny was caught and charged with attempted murder.
He got 13 years for it.
I remember watching this episode as kid growing up
This episode was rather scary, as someone who was threatened with the exact same threat (more or less), it still hits rather hard.
When johnny points with his finger, simon should've said this:
"What is pointing your finger and moving your thumb gonna do"
Simon saw it differently. When someone does the finger gun, that's a major red flag.
Lol that's the dad from Moody's Point
It would've been funny if "Johnny" had pulled his gun, only for Simon to pull a 44 Magnum. I wonder if Johnny felt lucky?
Well does he punk?
i guess you got to ask your self one question do i feel lucky
Big Simoleon Simon don't play games
Or maybe Simon could use the powers of darkness like Riku. ;)
It's a mystery why this show lasted 11 seasons and much better show like Firefly gets cancel after one season!
Because it was a great show with millions watching it
Two words: Huge Ratings. This episode alone got 9 million viewers
I hate it, but it was really easy to follow and had no dead moments, at least when I followed the first seasons as a kid. 40 minutes flew by.
