    I just wish they'd flesh out the editing capabilities just a bit more to give better editing of the excellent 48 megapixel raw photos coming out of the 14 pro. I hate having to use an external editor when the internal tools are so close to something like LIghtroom. Every photo editor wants to use a subscription model now. I'm willing to pay a one-time reasonable fee, but not every month.

    Thanks for another great video. Is it possible to have two different libraries? One for cell phone pics and one for a regular camera?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can only have one iCloud Photos library. You can have other non-iCloud ones. But why would you want to divide your photos like that? It will make searching and viewing your photos very difficult. What's your goal in wanting to do this?

    • @pritch28

      I guess it wouldn’t be for iCloud, but I just wanted to separate my cell phone pics from my pics from my big camera on the Photos app.

      @@pritch28 But why? What makes those pictures different? Like is one work photos and the other personal photos?

    • @pritch28
      @pritch28 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The cell phone pictures can have a lot of random stuff, and the other camera has my high quality landscape pics. Just thought it might be good to keep them separate if possible.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@pritch28 You really need to consider the downsides. If you want to search for a photo, now you have to open one library, search, switch to another library, search. If you want to have some albums, you can only have photos from the current library in an album, including Shared Albums. Only one library can be your iCloud library, so the other library's photos would just be local to one Mac. You would never be able to view them on your iPhone and iPad.
      If it is very important that you be able to see photos from one camera or another, you can always search for that camera or set up Smart Folders for showing only images taken with that camera.

I would select the folder that contained the products and select the ones I wanted to upload. Now, the folders are eliminated. ALL the photos appears as Ventura has eliminated folders in favor of drop and drag. As a small business owner, this is very time consuming…. I have 12000 photos, and have to browse through them to find the specific ones I need. And, drop and drag also reduces image quality. My host is WIX. If that makes sense….

I don't want to export the images, as then I lose the exif data and must edit it manually for all of my nearly 10,000 images (multiple users). Does the duplicates matching algorithm find duplicates by identical file image data or does it use advanced image matching to find near matches? Not sure what you mean. Photos don't really have a "name." They have file names, but you can't alter those in Photos and I'm not sure why you would want to. They have titles. Do you mean titles? What is your use case? Why do you want to apply the same title to more than one photo? What is it you are trying to DO?

    • @karendharper
      @karendharper ปีที่แล้ว

      @@macmost Thanks for your reply. I've always renamed the file names to something that makes sense to me--usually a description with date and a counter. I'm a previous Aperture user until Apple did away with it. It was so easy to do it then. For example a New York trip might be 2023NY-001, 2023NY-002, and so on. It's just something I have always done until I was forced to go to Apple's Photos app. Photos makes you (as far as I can figure out) export the photos to give them new file names, rather than allowing you to do it in the App without exporting.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karendharper Yes, I wouldn't export and then re-import just to give them new filenames you don't need. Learn how to use the organization tools in Photos and you'll see you don't need these. Each photo has a date and time, a location, and it is easy to find anything. You can add keyword tags for more and create your own albums. Faces are recognized. You can search by any of these and even objects in elements in the photos. File names like "2023NY" just aren't needed anymore.

    as far as your mac finding duplicates, im getting conflicting answers as to when your mac will start scanning for duplicates. i know it says "scanning will continue when you're not using the app and your mac is connected to power" but there are many users on apple forums claiming that it will ONLY scan with photos open, but just running in the background (like having it minimized). the wording that apple provides is so ambiguous, because i feel like it can be interpreted both ways; you can have it open in the background (aka minimized), but not be actively using it, or do they actually mean quit the photos app completely? i've tried both ways and so far there havent been any photos appearing in the duplicates folder, and i know i have a ton. please advise.

    hello I have an issue with my photos library, I hope u could explain and help me in this case. When I import files into a blank photolibrary, it changes the name of the files and it puts the files into folder like 1,2,3,etc and a,b,c etc. I would like it keeps the original names of the files and at least sorts them by date. hope I could explain it well. cheers

      Do you mean inside the Photos library? Why do you need to look in there? Once they are in your Photos library, you can now manage them inside the Photos app. No need to deal with the files directly. You do have the option to change how to works and NOT import the files, but then it is up to you to maintain them in both Photos and in the Finder. Plus you can't use iCloud when you do that.
