Been living here for almost 5 years it’s not just the cost of accommodation it’s the extremely low quality. Also the attitude and practices of landlords leaves a lot to be desired. For example it seems the norm that when something non structural in an apartment needs replacing (eg sofa) the tenants are expected to replace it at their own costs, I have never heard of this practice before moving to Malta! Incredible!
We've never had dealings with landlords personally but I've heard horrible stories about Landlords in Malta. Something definitely has to change. There is a need for better regulations and accountability but as you know and I mentioned in the video, bureaucracy and mentality doesn't help matters much. I hope that despite that, you are still able to find some joy in your time in Malta. Wish you all the best!
@ Accommodation is the highest it’s ever been. Average rent close to the center is between €1,200 - €2,000 for a 2/3 bedroom apartment. The further you are from the center/sea, the lower the rent gets. Food is also expensive especially at supermarkets. Most other things are reasonable though.
i’m excited for your journey my friend. For where you’re at with a few videos and a few weeks in you’re doing phenomenal. Strive to improve small steps add up.
I'm super thrilled that you stopped by my channel Brian! Thank you so much for your encouragement. It sure means a lot. I've learned a lot from you and I look forward to whats to come for me and for you. See you in the Closing Crew!
I love Malta, I was there last year and will be visiting there next week bringing in the NEW YEAR 2025, I'm inlove with that island however I couldn't move there because it's small like the island I'm from which is Bermuda, but only Bermuda is a lot smaller ❤
How cool! Bermuda seems amazing too, I hope to visit one day. I understand how you feel about the size of Malta, my husband and I feel that way too. However, we’ve been able to find a good balance as we travel quite a lot and when we’re in Malta, we’re in total relax mode 😁😌 Hope you have a wonderful NYE in Malta. It’s usually quite fun there during this time. Enjoy it! 🫶🏾
I was in Malta, now live abroad, I visit many times, I was there this summer, unfortunately I broke my ankle walking , the side Walks are in very bad conditions, and it's very common for people to hurt themselves..I agree with most of your cons living in Malta..I found most natives are friendly, I had no issues dealing with government services, but as you said it's how you talk and present yourself to others, it's all about attitudes and respect..many of these issues addressed is because of foreigners living in Malta, waiting time at hospitals, crowded busses, more construction and the list goes on..but I do want to give you credit aa how you presented this video, you have stated facts, which i have had concerns myself..but you did it on a very diplomatic way..thank you for sharing and good luck living in Malta.
Hello Catherine! So sorry you hurt your ankle. Hope it’s healing up well now. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Malta does have its problems but it also has many advantages, which have worked for me and my family so far. Hope you have a better time the next time you visit again! Cheers! 😊
Let's get the conversation going: Are any of these issues a deal breaker for you? If you already live in Malta, what don't you like about the country? I'd like to know your thoughts.
I moved to spain 7yrs ago because im from london & i just thought British people all got along. They dont. Being here, I've learnt how awful my culture really is 😔
Hola! Well, cultural differences and abnormalities are only exposed when we live with other cultures. That's sad about the British culture though. I suppose you're enjoying the culture over in Spain.
@@sipzc-dj😂😂 I can only imagine so! The Italians are also amazingly warm and open. I think the British culture is steeped in social etiquette which is quite standoffish. Would you agree?
I like British culture from outside. It is based on fairness to others and self critique. I see British as the most objective. Most other cultures make fun of others. British make fun of themselves but find every excuse not to make fun of others.
@@maximr6576 unfortunately they are all lost souls here and drown themselves in alcohol. They fall over everywhere, have no manners, gossip about eachother, ruin eachother businesses. They are just super low class & it shocked the s**t out of me. I'm British and I can't stand us anymore... I'm just glad they can't get residence anymore ✌🏼
Really? I feel that’s a subjective opinion based on many factors. They probably didn’t do their research properly before moving to find out if it was going to be a suitable match for them in every aspect. Unfortunately, many people nowadays get lured by the job opportunities and taxation and just run down here with high expectations. And when those aren’t met, they call it a terrible place, which I quite frankly think is unfair. I’ve been here for 10 years and it was a paradise back then which afforded me the lifestyle I have now. My own home which is close to where I work so I never have to get in traffic. And when I feel bored or boxed in, I hop on a plane and go wherever I want. People really do need to do their homework thoroughly before moving to a place. Malta is definitely not for everyone. Hope they’re now living in a better place. Cheers!
Sometimes us expats are seen as complaining alot. In Australia they call the Brits whinging Poms. Now the locals are complaining worldwide about foreigners and tourism.

Every single one of my friends that moved there said it's a shithole and left.

Those are, unfortunately, some of the pitfalls of globalization. Many people still fear change and the unknown. Hope you don't let it bother you much.
