    How did you tribute summon malicious edge only with prodigy?

    • @LegacyRetroFormats
      @LegacyRetroFormats  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can tribute summon malicious edge with only 1 tribute if your opponent controls a monster

    Obviously I'm no professional player or anything, but I wanted to add to your discussion about Upstart Goblin vs Yata. I think the idea is if you are main decking Royal Oppression, you wouldn't want to play Upstart because you are giving your opponent free life points to spend on your Royal Oppression to stop your plays.

      I’d prefer another defensive card over yata if you don’t want to give your opponent life points

      People at my locals want to play hat but it’s hard to get enough people to build decks

    On mandatory effects i don't think you'll get a game loss. You just resolve it late. I think.

    Blackwings just won RBET LA in California this past weekend and the dude that won has been play testing with 3 yata and 3 jar of greed for the past 5 months. it was a 156 person tournament. I don’t like the draw cards but it seems that when piloted by a very good player, it can do wonders. So it’s all subjective on the players skill level at the end of the day.

      We’ll see if this yata and jar trend continues

    I go back and forth on yata and upstart sooo much, but especially on upstart. I think we are all firm believers in running 37 cards, but man life points legit feels like a real cost in edison. yea i draw the miracles more the caius more etc, but the caius burn isn't as threatening anymore, they have more life to possibly tank one hit from ab zero giving them another turn to live and try to deal with it, swap frogs pokes get diminished, any of the direct attacks that you earn with the heros or the damage that you earn in battle is diminished, the turn of damage that you earned with malicious edge piercing gets diminished etc.
    I feel like the life point gain is soo much more nuanced than just "oh life points don't matter. drawing your good cards matters."
    similar to the solemn judgement discussion recently, when i actually look back at all my frog matches, there are a very notable amount of games where the upstart life gain ends up costing me the game whether directly because they survive a potential lethal, or more subtly like oh he wouldn't have used brain in that spot but because he gained 1000-2000 more life, it put him in a spot where brain there is now good and not as risky. or going for an attack to clear one of my monsters WOULD have been risky for them and possible be deterred from it, now the extra life means they can risk committing to a battle to try to plus on board.
    Last thing ill say cuz this is already hella long is that upstart raises consistency by a small amount. its a statistic. which means that in order for the statistic to play in your favor, in order to max out upstart potential, you have to play HELLA games with upstart. so for example if you deck switch often or sometimes cut upstart sometimes don't, if you sometimes side upstarts out, it makes drawing the upstarts stand out more cuz ur constantly cutting your sample size. Upstart is at its best when you dont draw it. Ur still running the theoretical 37 card deck, just not giving them life points.
    This is part of the reason why i don't recommend upstart to newer players. You will likely experience and be impacted by the bad luck of drawing upstart more than receiving the gains from maining upstart long term. i feel like upstart is better for VERY active competitive players and less good for the average player due to the difference in how much they play the game.
    There are definitely other subtle pros to maining upstart like it can potentially make turn 1 dustshoot not as good.
    Again i think upstart is more nuanced than it sounds.

      I may make a video down the road on why I think upstart is better than yata I appreciate your thoughts on it as well.

    Despite drawing badly, you won game 1 thanks to pwwb locking him down. Had you drawn the 3rd one instead of raigeki break, it's gg right there.
