Sammo Hung got my huge respect in this movie. Really love what they're doing on set and making those fight scenes look even better. Salute! Thanks Donnie and Sammo for making this movie. This is my childhood and the sequel of SPL 2.
Wow! Days and days of filming. Imagine the exhaustion of both the actors and the crew, just to deliver us viewers an excellent minutes of action scene. Respect these guys. Especially Donnie Yen.
this fight scene was absolut garbage. i love the movie, watched it over and over paused every scene, and this fight scene is the worst. I guess they just wanted to call it a day.
@@高宇中 58:30 You can see Donnie Yen throws Sammo's 200-pound body over his head by pulling on his shirt. What material is the shirt made of if it can withstand such tensile force?
Very interesting to observe the dynamics on set,the hierarchy, the respect Donnie gives to Samo, the eye contacts.Body language,Donnie known to be a no nonsense but when it comes to interaction with Samo. And compare it with other behind the scenes
Hong Kong directors some what of a perfectionist (mainly on fight scenes or shooting scenes) that’s why they usually hired the same actors because they know what they expected out of them.
Yeah, I don't know why though - it's not as if they are burning through can after can of real film stock, like the old days - it's all on digital now, so why not use as much hard-drive space as needed?
Sammo won 5 awards for best action choreography from Hong Kong Film Awards, Donnie Yen won 4 of them (from POV at 2023)... That's basically best team ever.
Too bad we had to wait this long to see these two Kung-fu titans to fight each other. I honestly wish we could've seen Sammo vs Donnie in the early 90's when they were closer to their physical peak.
But if it were back then, it wouldn't be as phenomenal as what we've seen in this film because the concept of "realism" in fight choreography haven't been used in that time, or even before this movie.
they Choreograph and decide on set just before camera roll. You can plan the fight scenes but thing will change on set and the experiences of Samo Hung, Donnie and Wu jing shows... Editing in their head as they shot scene by scene.
It is very interresting to see how much work is behind the scenes. And how difficult is it to make the action scenes because nowbody want's to hit the others to hospital. Very nice to see that!
I like Donnie and Sammo but now we see why Bruce Lee was the best. His choregrafy fight scene was simply perfect. Look at Enter The dragon behinde of scenes. Sorry for my english.
Yuen Biao recalls on Millionaire Express that he took a kick to the chest from Sammo and passed out with his mouth foaming just like Donnie's poor victim in SPL
Neai Tuppi Donnie does have an arrogant streak but he's one of the few who actually has bragging rights to being one of the best screen fighters around. But he definitely ain't no Bruce and can't mimic Bruce as good as Sammo can.
@@one_el686 he is also one of the extras in this movie, which he played the role of one of Sammo hung's henchmen who was wearing a hat, killed an undercover sent by a police inspector (Simon Yam), and was eventually hunted down, beaten and silenced by the latter and his men. I'm not super familiar with Donnie or Sammo, or maybe it's something of Chinese culture, but are they just really good friends and that's why he calls him 'brother' so much? Just curious.
I'm not Chinese, so I cannot answer that, but in the Philippines we call an older friend or companion "kuya", which means "older brother". Chinese culture might have the same thing.
Even though Donnie was the choreographer on the film... Sammo is highly respected and the term is used as such. I believe Sammo is known as Big Brother Big 'Dai Gor Dai' in the industry due to his impact and influence in Hong Kong film. Fun fact... I believe the original mobile phones (huge brick looking things from the 80s) were nicknamed 'Dai Gor Dai' in Hong Kong as Sammo was one of the first to have one 😁
@@dechinaman That's pretty neat, thanks for the info! Also the mobile phone fact made me laugh, that'd be funny to be Sammo in that time hearing them being called that everywhere.

Do it until it gets perfect. Even if it takes over 100 retakes.
That's something Hollywood wouldn't do.
