      In the mainstream these days they only focus on creating short files that are what they think people want to hear (and people will want it because they have too short attention spans for anything longer) without complexities such as (gasp!) bridges, just so the streaming services get the highest amounts of plays and therefore money (plays only count when the song is played for x%, hence short songs get more plays). It's all calculation to maximize profit, zero genuine expression of how a real human being is feeling.

    • @babyanimals7271

      I couldn’t possibly agree more. In my early 20s (in the early 90s) grunge changed everything for me. And Kurt’s death was shattering and things were never the same.
      Now I’m middle aged and about a year ago i discovered k-pop, and it’s brought me so much joy. Just catchy, incredibly crafted pop music.
      Not sure I can listen to “In Utero” anymore. Just not that kid anymore. But I can still find new and different music to love that brings me joy even though many might say it’s not “serious” music.
      I had “serious” music 30+ years ago and I’m grateful to have been young at that time, but I think I’d do a disservice to those memories by staying chained to them.
      Kurt was incredible and changed so many lives. But he’s gone, and music has moved on - as it should, and as it will.
      Thanks for your excellent feedback!

    • @kurdt1012
      @kurdt1012 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@babyanimals7271 art is not meant to be accessible. Its meant to be authentic. In Utero is a perfect work of art. You used to appreciate music as an art form but now you listen to accesible music only? How sad.

      @babyanimals7271 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kurdt1012 I hear you and you make some great points! I appreciate you taking the time to consider what I said and to provide such thoughtful insight. If only all dialogue were so informative!
      I should have been clearer that it has nothing to do with accessibility and everything to do with tragedy. I mention In Utero because (to me) it is one long suicide note, and at my point in life I’ve lived through enough horrible things that I don’t want to listen to a poor lost soul 20-something work his way toward killing himself. It was so monstrously sad back then and grunge - which as I mentioned changed everything - is littered with bodies. I hope I’m making sense.
      I would add also that pop music might be accessible but is by no means empty or saccharine. What is accessible anyway? One can like Picasso for the pretty colors too.
      Thanks again!!!

    The Hollies Pay it back with interest and their body of work is way ahead of Herman's Hermits and of course the Knack and with age Kurt would probably re-evaluate the the Hollies and they had 3 decent hits without Graham Nash in the seventies including Long cool woman. But the Beatles were and still are number 1 and Paul played with the surviving Nirvana members on Cut me some slack, and were dubbed "Sirvana."

      "Not in his skin," everybody says things like this about Dave back then, but I can read people honestly, and I'd say he's always been obnoxious from what I can tell; he was just taking the backseat and letting Krist and Kurt take the wheel.

      @@deniserhodes4464 I see your point, but if Dave has never been in Nirvana, he never would have been notable and therefore, would not have had the already built-in audience he had when he started Foo Fighters, and therefore would never have been successful to begin with. @@Spice99857 honestly you never know. Dave was playing drums for a band named Scream around '86. That's the way Nirvana found him, because he is a phenomenal drummer/musician. Also he was like 16 lol to say he wouldn't be anything without Nirvana is craziness. Good music is good music! Obviously, now we know Nirvana was probably the best route for him, but he could've definitely made it to where he is without them.
