  • Hello friends. Hope you enjoy this wonderful installation of the Solis hybrid inverter and three Puredrive 5kWh batteries. Our friend Ben Curry from Electrical innovations Ltd in Derby has done an excellent job and expertly installed the system. What do you think?

Nice install, super easy and super clean. I'm not sure I would be installing £10k worth of batteries on the garage floor. Won't take much of a flood and all you will have is 180kg worth of paperweights!
I'll stick with server mount batteries mounted high up out the way.

This video is potentially very useful to me- Solis inverter coming this week- but I just couldn't stand the dreadful earworm 'music' in the background. Any chance you could just delete the music and upload a new version? Good luck with your solar installations, you are saving the planet!

Nice neat job gents. Its clear to see pride in your work, not like some other examples floating about on social media.
I was just wondering however, which cable did you use on the AC side between your inverter and isolator. I am about to embark on a similar job, however I note the AC plugs provided with the S5-EH1P6K-L are looking for a nominal cable diameter of between 10-12mm. My go to would have been the H07RN-F spec, however, for a 6mm2, its OD is 14.78mm, even the 4mm2, which is too small for my job anyway to maintain the VD < 1%, is still to big at 13.2mm. So ye, what did you use, please?
Also, was there any particular reason why you opted not to use the Eastron meter supplied with the inverter. Noting you have instead used the Acrel ACR10R-D16TE at additional cost?

I have a pv system installed on a shed in my garden about 20 metres from the house, this is connected to a consumer unit in the shed which is connected to the house. There is no room under the stairs where my main consumer unit is to fit the Solis hybrid inverter and battery so it is also installed in the shed and connected to the same consumer unit. To function correctly do I need to extend the meter CT clamp all the way back to the house to mains live cable? Plugging an electric heater into the shed causes the battery to discharge but it does not discharge when plugged in the house.

I'm sure you've got your amswer at this stage, but you need to have the ct clamp at the house mains, if it's just at your garage your Solar panels are only supplying power to your garage.

Great video… regarding charging from grid settings at 12:23 in the video, what is the optimum charge limit if charging from a night rate to ensure optimum battery life span. I read somewhere we should reduce the charge limit from 050.0A and charge at a slower rate, but with this impact how quickly the battery charges from the PV panels? Thank you.

We had our Solis inverter installed last November 2021. We have had problems ever since. The lights are flickering. On occasion we have complete brown outs constantly every night. Installer also asked us to install 2 different lights but the brownouts continued. When I bypass the Solis system, and go directly to the grid, I have no brownout at all. The installer already replaced the inverter once. If I bypass the system, I have no problem with brownouts. Any help is appreciated

It extends the life of the battery but 80/20 is Lithium-Ion. Safer LiFePo4 are normally 90/10. You can do 100/0 but it shortens the life from 7000 charge cycles to 4000.

Can this system provide blackout backup power? The solis inverter has an AC backup output for critical loads (UPS). Can this be used in the UK in the event of a blackout or is it disabled. I understand that any loads connected to the backup port would need to be supplied via their own breaker/RCD etc independent of the grid supplied consumers.

Go into the inverter advanced settings and set a discharge period time and duration and a discharge rate of 0 (zero). This stops the battery from discharging during this period. Note that if you have a period when you charge the battery overnight, then the two periods cannot overlap.
