Fuel pump suggestion. Rig a micro switch to your throttle. Have the adjustment so the switch is open (off) at idle, and when the throttle is opened, it closes the switch and turns off the fuel pump, letting the engines vacuum pump keep the motor going at idle. Cool idea overall, love that setup.
Awesome set up!! I need just that for our shallow river. One suggestion...at the end of video it looks like you didnt have your dead man switch hooked to you...stay safe young man.
I have a 1436 and removed the benches. Built an aluminum deck up front that extends back half way to the second bench. Half of that got pour foam and tubes to store rods. The rest is storage. My deep cycle battery for cranking lives up there to help with weight distribution and if I ever opt for a remote fuel tank I'll keep the gas tank up there too. I have plenty of room, even with life vests and my anchor there. I also use 2 kayak batteries for my fish finder and trolling motor. If you can find a way to keep that cranking battery and fuel tank up front, you might like it better. But as it is, I love the way you have it set up! We all have different needs in our boats and I'm only mentioning mine because of Chris Brumley's comment about the fuel tank. Weight distribution is a big concern in these tiny boats. And like others, I'm interested in that kit too. I may build my own if I can find a set of plans that I like.
i gotta 16' by 56" at the beam flatbottom Lake Raider. i can do 33 miles an hour with just me in the boat. i modified a bigger prop, the blades are about 3/4" longer. oh, 420 Harber Freight engine. boats a 95 that i got for free because it leaks all over, i just welded all the holes up and jimmied me an engine on it, also had to make a homemade trailer for it. fish dont care how fancy your boat is. thnx for the vid, and the time it took to make it.
That's what I was thinking or at least put a toggle switch on the handle. Maybe an electric brake light switch that you find on little bikes that don't have hydraulic brakes
That is the kinda boat I would love to own. I would be on the river everyday if you don't mind my asking about how much do you have invested in it.And one more thing when can you take me out for a run in that bad ass boat.
Nice setup. I have Two 1- 16 x 36 w/ 27hp Go-devil long tail 1- 14 x 40 Custom built w/ 23hp Vanguard Copperhead Surface Drive. Trying to see which one I`m going to keep as soon as Briggs starts to making motors to sell been on waiting list for 2 months. Enjoyed the Demo
The motor was used $800 the surface drive I paid $4,800 for and the dude stopped making that smaller one couple years before I bought that exact one. He made it for his brother. Brother had a stroke then he hung it in the rafters of his shop eventually putting on fb that’s when I got it. But the guy wasn’t nice too me whatsoever so I peeled the sticker off and don’t speak on his name. Was a badass unit but over priced and the dude was a a$$hole
@ yessir that was a mini version for 22hp but it was top of the line with electric trim and all wasn’t Thailand crap the dude made the stuff in his backyard chromoly shaft and all. But the next step up, which that’s the only 22 hp I’ve ever seen set up like that. People usually have 40 hp plus. And the surface drives are much bigger but they go for about 8000.
Is there a certain size mud motor you put on a John boat or can you just put one on? Want to put one on my express flat bottom but some say I need Jack plate or they say it won’t plane out cause not made for the boat
Whoever told you, that you need a jack plate for a surface drive and that they don’t plane out sounds like a real idiot. Or they had/have one that is not set up for their boat, and load their boat improperly. Jack plates are to raise up outboard engines on the hull so that you can run more shallow or correct for short transom. A mud motor needs to plane out so that you can run more shallow. You can put a mud motor on your boat. Just make sure you get a mud motor made to work for your transom height. So the “size” of the mud motor you’d get depends on the size of your boat. Obviously you’re not going to put a 35-40hp surface drive on a 14ft boat, just the same you wouldn’t put a 20-25hp one on a 17’ hull.
I have a 14ft Jon boat 13 horsepower vanguard mudskipper surface drive the bottom of the boat is 32 in. and the gunnel is 46 . And I'm 197 lbs is that too much weight anxiously awaiting your reply
I just realized it's been a year since you made this video curious if you read this if you put a cavitation Finn or plate people call them different things on the back of that to stop so much air getting to the prop
If u don't watch go cart motors getting put on a boat or a boat motor being put on a gocart what are u doing with your weekend lol
what are you doing with your whole life?!?!?! Lol😂
Hell yeah brother
Hands down the cleanest set up I’ve seen. Keep posting bubba.
My favorite video on surface drives, so far! I like this design the best! Indeed!
SWEET RIG !!!, Not to mention the AWESOME !!! job you did on the camo
Dope video, that motor is definitely something I need with the weeds and Lilly pads here.
Great job on the boat and the surface drive set up. Can you add the builder of the Surface drive in the description please.
Looks like a mud walker

Do you have a pic or video of your set up? I’d like to see yours.
How can you extend the battery cables to the motor want to run it to the front for weight distribution
What you should do is install a fuel pressure regulator and a return line to the gas tank.

Did you build the entire outboard or did everything g come as one like say a mud buddy?
If so where did you buy it from?
What a awesome set up
You might look into putting a switch that turns your fuel pump on when you turn the throttle to a certain point, similar to a nitrous switch.
That's what I was thinking or at least put a toggle switch on the handle. Maybe an electric brake light switch that you find on little bikes that don't have hydraulic brakes
Hey man I found out about you from your last video, please keep uploading frequently. You have quickly became one of my favorite TH-cam to watch!
I agree
That is the kinda boat I would love to own. I would be on the river everyday if you don't mind my asking about how much do you have invested in it.And one more thing when can you take me out for a run in that bad ass boat.
Coolest one I’ve seen yet.
Can you leave a link on who made your surface drive? Also what size boat is that
MudWalker Mud Motors
Who is the guy who makes the surface drives? Interested in buying one from him
All that needs is a forward/neutral/reverse type gear box and that would be awesome, IMHO.
would love to get some more info on the mud motor
That things bad ass.... I want one for my 12ft john. I know what I'm doing this winter. Easy build.

How much would that setup be all together. Not the boat but just the motor and surface drive attached?

@ I didn’t know the surface drives were that much. That’s crazy.
Will the mud motor work on gravel or rock bottoms like in the Ozarks? How shallow will it go?
You have a great name young man. Happy boating from south Mississippi.
What your boat rated for HP wise. I just bought a 14ft from my uncle. He redid the transom. It’s rated for 20
Pretty sure I did three-quarter marine plywood I would probably stop around 30 hp most of them are all different, especially after somebody restores…
What brand surface drive do you have? Can't find it anywhere i Google!
Sweet rig. Where did you purchase that motor setup.
You got the contact info for the guy who built it and how much it costs? Looking to upgrade!
Bro where can I buy that surface drive kit? If that guy makes them to sell I’m sure he will get a lot more business.
He bought it at mud walker mud motors in orange florida...your welcome!!!!!
@@jaimecantu5387 thank you

I would be curious what that thing could do with some upgrades cam Springs larger slide type carburger port work ect.
What did it cost you to put motor together.. by the way Great Vid..😊
About 5k honestly
How do these motors do in shallow rocky water? i dont have any bud where im from. Just rock
Can you explain or show how your electric trim is set up?
What brand of surface drive is that and what size motor you running on it?
That gator glide is the bomb!
I live in Melbourne Fl...Do you have the name, or website for the surface drive kit out of Jacksonville?
Where did you get the surface drive? I got the motor already..
Surface drive with a Harley motor would be cool
Wow, sounds like my old V-W bus....
Who makes the surface drive?
What brand of surface drive is that ?
it looks cool as hell
Clean rig. 👍🏻
Who made the kit?

Replace the stock fuel pump with this Briggs & Stratton 808656 Fuel Pump. Much stronger then stock Predator pump. $18
Did trim come it or you modified it yourself
Did you buy just the frame and throw the predator on it? If so what frame is that?
Man I love the videos keep up the good work.!
who makes that surface drive kit
You said you got the motor from a guy in Jacksonville what kind of kit is it does he make himself or I'm looking for one smaller for a 12 ft
Who builds that surface drive??
Nice boat and motor
Is this the Withlacoochee river?
I made one myself how did you do the electric trim?
What kind of motor is on the boat? Does the guy you bought it from have a website?
The motor is a 420 predator
Who makes the surface drive and how much need one.
Black creek mud motors. Aka mudwalker
Where can I get one like this? I’ve got a 1236 Jon Boat. Im up in Canada
Yo keep the videos coming. Good content brother 🤙🏼
What size is the boat and how tall is the transom
Who built the tail? What all done to

Who did the surface drive?
Is this a 14/36?
How do I get this surface drive kit?
Where did u buy that motor. I’m building a 14’ mud boat
Did you have to reinforce the transom ?
Who's your guy in Jax? I live pretty close to Jax as well?
How many HP is that Motor?
You should go threw your motor, an tighten up the bolts, the bolt holding your ignition box is about to come out
When are you gonna take the little white boat out still waiting for that video top speed test lol
How did you get that to fit on such a small boat without having rear float issues?
Not as heavy as it looks
@@thebrowncompound 👍🏻

Who makes the surface drive? And what’s done to the motor
Who makes that surface drive curious
What kind of rpm’s when your running up on plane,

Where do ya get the surface drive setup?
Where did u get the tail from
Do you have contact info for the guy that makes that surface drive setup?

Where the videos at been waiting for another boat rip vid
Would you happen to know what surface drive that is?
I’d like to know the same. I have a 1436 and want to put this motor and surface drive on it.
Electric trim on a surface drive is a million $ idea 🤔
Did your install the trim system
I wonder if you put some performance parts on the motor if you would hit 30.
I know this is old but how much did you pay for the motor?
I have a 14ft Jon boat 13 horsepower vanguard mudskipper surface drive the bottom of the boat is 32 in. and the gunnel is 46 . And I'm 197 lbs is that too much weight anxiously awaiting your reply
Do you think grab bars are that important cause I have a 14 foot wide and I am getting a 23 hp copper head should I get a grab bar?
Width? An longtail 100% surface drive maybe depending on electric trim or not
@@thebrowncompound nah no electric trim
Do you have another channel you post on?
No sir more to come on here been dealing with a lot TH-cam is going to be the main focus here soon
We need an update on the 13ft ripper.

Did you have to build are you get already built
Copperhead should implement that trim system
Is there a link or a comment for the mud motor kit?
How much total u got invested in this build 🤔
Sooooooo Badass! Subscribed.
Very interested in person or info to be able to purchase that surface drive
