You can use a rope/string to the first rear cross support where the seat is at to hold the tiller handle down in the front so the shaft doesn't drop. A plus of this setup is if the rope is set to a proper length and set on the handle just right it is a cruise control actually witch is pretty sweet.

In my state, we can't have air boats(BUT the Game & Fish can). This is fun and cheap to build....(They will outlaw these too)

I’ve thought about it. I think you could. Just need the metal bar and two holes drilled at the skeg like SR does it and it should work.
Is the piece of metal sharpened? Or is it just bar stock with the slight rounded edge.
