    I have the 2005 midnight venture. Same bike as the one featured here, just a bit newer. I took it on a 7500 mile ride and many 4000 mile rides. The weak spot in these bikes is the fuel pump. Mine went bad at 50,000 miles. I put new points in it and it seems to be working fine, but I bought a cheap aftermarket one and keep it with the bike in case I have a failure on the road. There are many upgrades you can do to the bike at very low cost. The Venture forum has many hints and tips for these bikes. I darksided mine with great results. About 50K darksiding. Great bikes. Very comfortable. You can wire up your cell phone to play music as the radio has an accessory port. The windshield is tall, but I cut mine down to size. You can also buy a shorter windshield at the dealer.

    I rode 2005 Midnight Venture for 10 years. A good solid bike, yes it has a lot of plastic but it's very well made. Very roomy for bigger guys, and a lot more comfortable than my current Harley Street Glide on long trips. The V-4 is a good motor, has excellent power if you keep the revs high. These motors are bullet proof and should go 200k with regular maintenance. They're just antiquated now with all the tech out there, but still a good bike.

      @@danmano1589 Congrats on the new bike!. That’s really low miles for a 20 year old touring bike. I loved mine the time I had it and it was hard to let it go with only 50k on the clock. Good that you had the carbs cleaned, mine never needed it though. Those Mikuni heated carbs were the pinnacle of carburetor technology at the time. I never had any issues starting the bike with the choke even at higher elevation and colder temperatures.
      I ride the 2018 version of the Venture now, traded in the Street Glide for it with no regrets. Overall, it’s a better bike more so for the technology upgrades, but the RSV Is a close second as for bikes I’ve enjoyed. I loved that V-4 motor of the RSV. Surprisingly quick for a 800 lb. bike if you wind it out in each gear. My new Venture is just the opposite, you short shift to get that tons of torque. As for comfort, they’re about equal for the rider but the my passenger much prefers the seat of the new bike.
      Any who, enjoy that new bike as it’s just barely broken in! 👍

    I have a 1999 RSV (same bike, different color). Pretty sure TALK button is for the built-in, factory CB radio. Intercom is always on between the headsets. Music can be switched between speakers and headsets. The music volume level can be set to automatically turn down as you slow down, then turn up at highway speeds. I made a phone mount for mine and now run iHeart radio into the AUX port. Pretty sweet for sure! AND...the IC system is WIRED so no rechargeable batteries or finicky wifi/Bluetooth connections to worry about! What's not to like? :)

    Gorgeous bikes, just don't understand their new one, swapping a V4 liquid cooedl for a Vtwin air cooled, mind boggling to me, less power, less torque, etc etc, and they've had to go up a lot in cc to try and keep the power, but that's not going to happen, A V4 at 1300cc had more power than an air cooled 1800cc

Both trips were 8000kms in 11 days. Couldn't do that if the bike was comfortable and fun to ride. I cut 4 inches off the factory shield.

      I recently sold my 2005 black Venture and bought a 2018 Goldwing. I had a love hate relationship with the Venture for 13 years...loved the way it looked and sounded...hated the way it handled around town. It's a 907 lb tank made to go 80mph in a straight line all day long. Also hated the clutch basket whine. Never real hard how much work it was riding the Venture until I got the Goldwing that handles like a 500 lb sport bike. Oddly enough, I miss the Venture after watching this.

      @@russellcyr4867 I too had a 2005 Midnight Venture. It was a very comfortable bike and I loved that V-4 as well. The clutch basket whine (i.e. the dreaded "chirp") almost drove me crazy at first but I actually got to the point where I didn't even notice it anymore, lol. But as you stated, it was a real handful at walking speed in parking lots and slow speed maneuvering as it was way too tall and top-heavy. And panic stops were a real adventure too with no ABS. All in all, though, I liked it a lot. I have the new Transcontinental Venture now and it's quite a step up in tech but I still miss the old Gen II.

    Hey dude you have a good thing going but ....... here is what we want to know when we watch you test these bikes. 1) More technical data ie .. fuel mileage, engine longevity, cubes, / CCs, parts availability, most common issues and dollars to fix, ect Then a comparison of comparable bikes of the same year vintage. Since I am looking for a Vulcan / Nomad or maybe a Harley it would be super helpful to see how this compares. I had not even thought of one of these, but now I am interested. If you put up a pic of the bikes you are comparing that would be awesome ! In that year, all the major bikes had a competitor to that model..... lets hear the major differences. If you are selling the bike say your asking price, do a price comparison on that brand and year.. Honestly .... most of us don’t care about 10 minutes os scratches and minutia.
    Do some research on the bike before you post your videos. I hate to sound harsh, but you don’t put out much useful info for someone genuinely interested in purchasing the bile you are showcasing. I love what you are doing.....just want more substance !!!

    • @ssfd739
      @ssfd739 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I second everything here!!! For someone actively looking for a touring bike the cost of ownership, parts availability, aftermarket support and fuel range are huge issues that are missed here. Also, fuel economy and range. I’d like to hear your asking price on this bike and why you come to that price vs what else is comparable in vintage and price. You’re trying to sell hundreds of bikes, so a little insight you share will go a lot farther and come back to your dealership in spades. I would find that more valuable than the definition of millennials. Oh one more thing, don’t forget to mention cost of ownership, parts, mpg and fuel range. I can’t have a touring bike that’s anchored to the gas pump all day, for guys that put miles on it’s a huge deal.

    Everybody talking shit about the tape deck. This was late 90s early 2000s. Back then CDs were still fairly new technology and marine grade versions of cd players were in short supply. So putting them in bikes was cost prohibitive. Now days a blu ray player can be had for $50. Not even 10 years ago they were closer to $1000 with a median of over $500. So for a bike trying to stay in the total price point of $10,000 a $12,000.. Putting a high dollar head unit in it was just going to cost them sales. Besides, Harley just recently went to tech like that and even throttle by wire is new to them. Yet somehow this nearly 20 year old cruiser is out of date for not having a cd player 🤣

    • @MikeyJr.
      @MikeyJr. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure what Century you were born in but CD's were new technology in the mid 80's!! Tapes were pretty much dead by the 90's. So a tape deck in a bike in 2000 is ridiculously stupid especially from a Japanese manufacturer!!

    • @godofm3tal1
      @godofm3tal1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cds may have been invented in the 80s. Sure. But they weren't popularized or actually used for music until the mid to late 90s. And they were fairly expensive. And to get one marine grade that would actually work in a bike would have been prohibitively expensive. They left that to the aftermarket. They put tape decks in cars well into the early 2000s and even after 2010 you'll still find the occasional tape deck. Though rare. And only in bottom of the line vehicles. Some of those only have radios. Nothing else. You really know nothing of what you speak, son.

      @@godofm3tal1 Again not sure what Century you're thinking of, I had a 5 CD changer in 1985 that I bought from an eleectronics store. This is from Wikipedia. Initial launch and adoption
      Philips established the Polydor Pressing Operations plant in Langenhagen near Hannover, Germany, and quickly passed a series of milestones.
      The first test pressing was of a recording of Richard Strauss's Eine Alpensinfonie (An Alpine Symphony) played by the Berlin Philharmonic and conducted by Herbert von Karajan, who had been enlisted as an ambassador for the format in 1979.The first public demonstration was on the BBC television programme Tomorrow's World in 1981, when the Bee Gees' album Living Eyes (1981) was played.
      The first commercial compact disc was produced on 17 August 1982, a 1979 recording of Chopin waltzes by Claudio Arrau.The first popular music album released on compact disc was The Visitors (1981) by ABBA.
      The first 50 titles were released in Japan on 1 October 1982, the very first of which was a re-release of the Billy Joel album 52nd Street.The first CD played on BBC Radio was in October 1982 on BBC Radio Scotland (Jimmy Mack programme, Followed by Ken Bruce and Eddie Mair all BBC Scotland), with the first CD played on UK independent radio station shortly after (Radio Forth, Jay Crawford Show). The CD was Dire Straits, Love over Gold.The Japanese launch was followed in March 1983 by the introduction of CD players and discs to Europe and North America (where CBS Records released sixteen titles). This 1983 event is often seen as the "Big Bang"[by whom?] of the digital audio revolution. The new audio disc was enthusiastically received, especially in the early-adopting classical music and audiophile communities, and its handling quality received particular praise. As the price of players gradually came down, and with the introduction of the portable Discman the CD began to gain popularity in the larger popular and rock music markets. One of the first CD markets was devoted to reissuing popular music whose commercial potential was already proven. The first artist to sell a million copies on CD was Dire Straits, with their 1985 album Brothers in Arms. The first major artist to have their entire catalogue converted to CD was David Bowie, whose first fourteen studio albums of (then) sixteen were made available by RCA Records in February 1985, along with four greatest hits albums; his fifteenth and sixteenth albums had already been issued on CD by EMI Records in 1983 and 1984, respectively. On February 26, 1987, the first four UK albums by The Beatles were released in mono on compact disc. In 1988, 400 million CDs were manufactured by 50 pressing plants around the world. And this also. While the CD had been on the market since 1982, it was in 1984 that Pioneer introduced the CDX-1, the world's first car CD player. It was known for its improved sound quality, instant track skipping and the formats increased durability over cassette tapes. Due to the ability that allowed drivers and passengers to change up to 10 CD's at a time, car CD changers started to gain popularity in the late 80s and continuing throughout the 90s.[13] Stock and aftermarket compact disc players began appearing in the late 1980s, competing with the cassette. I rest my case

      I grew up in the 80s and 90s. I don't care what people had or what was available. Cell phones were available in the 80s but they were generally an item for the rather wealthy and few and far between. I'm not saying they weren't available, but they weren't the standard in vehicles at that time. I had many vehicles in the late 90s that didn't have cd. Only ones that did were the high end ones like my 97 f150 lariat which had a 6 disc changer as an option, but had a cassette deck factory in the dash. No other f150 of that generation had cd in the dash to my knowledge. So once again, going back to motorcycles that require marine grade electronics which are expensive compared to standard stereos in a time when cd players were still pricey implements at the turn of the century, no.... Bikes having cd players was not commonplace at that time. Around that time people were mostly using cassette decks to plug adapters in that plugged into their mp3 players. Cds really had a short lived popularity between cassettes and mp3 dominance. Once mp3 players hit the market and n Napster and other sources allowed them to get free music, cds became unsavory for most.

    For a bike from 2000 in 2018 it looks and sounds great. The 1300 motor is probably a bit on the small side although I had a Yammie XV1100 with plenty of grunt and power so I don't think that is a restriction. I love the idea of cruise control but in 2018 I'm not so sure about the tape player. It looks comfortable and well set up for open road riding or cross country touring. I don't think you mentioned how many miles/kms and that would be a consideration in what someone might be willing to pay. As you said in another vide enjoy the ride it is the ride not the destination and as long as you like the bike you're on that's all that matters. Thanks for posting the video.

      Well the motor size really does not determine the power delivery of the engine. This is a very fast bike with very ample top end. It cruises very comfortable at 90-95mph and still have power to spare with crisp roll on hits for passage. This bike is much faster than most of the bigger v twins. Higher center of gravity gives incredible maneuverability as well. This is a bike for a taller and capable riders only.

      In Australia where I live the national speed limit is 110km/h except in the Northern Territory. As I am an older rider, 65, I ride to my ability, comfort zone and skill level. I have Kawasaki Voyager 1700 and I never ride at over 100km. I don't know what the claimed top speed is but I know my bike has plenty of power to pull me up the steepest hill when I need it. I take the view that even though I prefer a cruiser everyone should ride the bike they like because it is the ride not the destination that is important. Thanks for you feedback.@@yazziet6009

    That statement he just said there's not true because I'd say one of the smallest displacement full backed out touring bikes is the early Honda goldwings he said the Honda silver Wing but the goldwing was in fact 1100 up until 1984 I believe and then went up to a gl1200 which is what I have as well as a 89 Yamaha venture 1300
