Bruno Mars' Vocal Range (E3-C6)

  • Not only is Bruno a talented songwriter and producer, but he is also an outstanding vocalist. With 2 octaves and 5 notes (he can definitely go higher), his voice is eerily similar to a young Michael Jackson.

    It not how high or low you can sing , it's how good you sound singing that's important

    He's a Light Lyric Tenor, his tone is very bright & light in weight. I use to assume he was a countertenor , but he has more power in his belts than a countertenor does. His Only stable low note was F3, and yes he can go down to A2, but that's vocal fry. Overall I would be he can go typically from C3-B5 comfortably.

    Everybody is saying his low register sucks. Well for his voice to be so high, I'd expect his lows to be weak. But to be real, my voice is deep and I can get down to the F#2 but I never go that low. So maybe he doesn't feel the need to sing low idk

      +Amadi Dante I have that problem also, I'm a high voiced male singer myself. I have much more strength and support on higher notes but I can do as low as A2 but it's very breathy and unsupported. I was never good with my low notes. F#2 is so non-existent for me.

    • @matchbox3eb
      @matchbox3eb 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      true. I can produce a G2 without vocal fry up to a clear G4 at the top of what I'd consider head voice. D5 in falsetto. anything past a G4 just sounds like a straight yell though lol for Bruno to go that high his range definitely starts in the 3's not 2's. lucky bastard lol

    • @98matheusalles
      @98matheusalles 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm something like a low tenor , my low register goes down to a good sustained G2 and my high register is almost all head voice (don't like). Actually i prefer upper chest notes , seems more strength and acceptable than when too much acute. Mix C5 and G#5 head voice.

    • @naos8116
      @naos8116 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, for me, I can go down to F2 not all that much trouble. I can go really high, but whistle register helps with that. My highest chest note, is I think a C5.

    @zephster07 even for a tenor, E3 is not low, I think it's just how his voice is and how he is used to singing, so he always sang higher and he's comfortable like that...but still, it's really amazing for me to think he is so limited in his lower range

    @Stefano94x His D5 is not pushed at all, I would have to say that his Eb5 is rather throaty. I think he strained on that note because he doesn't sing that note often and probably didn't develop the right technique for that note. I never heard him hit that note live before either. He always sing that D5 with vibrato the ame way even in live performances. On the David Letterman show he hit that D5 with power, you can hear the resonance.

    @greatmusic1001 i think he's already pretty much up there... one of prince's strongest falsetto notes was a B5 which is the second to last note that bruno mars is singing at the end of this video. that's also higher than any michael jackson song that i know of.

  • @iWurk

  • @ThePianoguy89
    @ThePianoguy89 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Stefano94x I agree. I think he can do more! One important thing for him to do is stop smoking and the next thing is to correct his technique, if he does, he can even reach up to a G5 in full voice because I know he can do it because of his high tessitura. I know that he is capable of doing more than he's giving us.

  • @raddist7012
    @raddist7012 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Actually for what it is, his lower voice is pretty good but it's not spectacular. It sounds nice and soft which is a plus considering his range is high and bright in general.

  • @ThePianoguy89
    @ThePianoguy89 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @sophie96299 You know he can go lower than an E3, his lowest note is a C3, (it's on the other vocal range video), but I am sure he can go lower. Counter-tenor is the highest male singing voice, and they blend in with alto, mezzo-soprano, and soprano voices. He is a tenor that sings in an alto or mezzo soprano range.

    I like his range but I think he needs to open up and support some of his bottom notes because he actually sounds nice on them...There is warmth, relaxation and beauty. It would be better if he learned to open it up. The notes F3 to A3 could use more volume.

  • @ThePianoguy89
    @ThePianoguy89 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Stefano94x Whitney on the other hand has very powerful Eb5's with that ringing vibrato to it too, which I love. Over time smoking took a toll on her voice consequently, now she has to push her notes on Bb4 and above. Smoking does cause strain on the voice, even if you do have the right technique because it burns out the lungs, which makes it harder for a person to belt to full capacity. Bruno doesn't sing an Eb5 and that was the only time he hit an Eb5. He knows it's not comfortable for him.

  • @link11341

  • @ThePianoguy89
    @ThePianoguy89 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Stefano94x I never said that it's stylistic, I said that he smokes, which causes him to force that D#5 or Eb5. The same thing goes for P!nk, she's a smoker, you hear the roughness and gritiness in her voice in her chest and head register. Smoking dries out the vocal chords unfortunately, that's why I said that i wished he stopped smoking because it would take away the beauty of his voice and make singing ver difficult.

    @LoveGreatVocal I really don't know... It sounds like him, but when you listen to his whole disography he never goes below a E3 solo, so it lends to me to believe it wasn't him. Either way the lowest in that harmony was a Eb3 lol

  • @PFG666
    @PFG666 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That really shows the diversity in voices. For me, even for a E3 I have to sore up to hit that note, while for him that note is lies very near his bottom end. I do however feel he can go lower, it would just be a weak sound.

  • @JakobRobert00

    @Stefano94x He does sing in tune and I've seen many performances where he did. I was making a point that the music industry usually produce overly commercialized artists with no credible vocal talent at all. Even if a singer is imperfect, at least they are honest and his technique is not very flawed like others I should say. There's not a lot of pop male singers today in his generation that can do what he do with his voice. This is only his first album, so he has a lot more to give.

    @STRATEKOOL15 He does have a strong belting voice up to D5. I think with more training he will be able to belt higher than Eb5. He does mix his belts because degress of mixing for guys starts around Eb4 or G#4. It's no way you can go over G#4 without mixing.

    The C6 was very forced i think His Range is lower C3 or Eb3 and her highest note is a E5 in Head Voice. I think the B5, C6 were exclamations. But he is Good Singer.

    @ThePianoguy89 um.... a tenor can sing lower than him so he would be classed as an alto that can sing a bit higher

    MJ couldn't sing in his 40s when he was DANCING, but in his 20s in the studio he was great, listen to ACAPELLA versions of his songs. Bruno can't dance, he doesn't have the REVOLUTIONARY vision of music videos. Also none of his songs match up to classics written by MJ "Billie Jean" "The Way You Make Me Feel" "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"

    Whoever says he's not great, that's a total lie! He has a great vocal timbre and he is a great singer.

      Who taught you about vocal fach? He is the opposite of a Spinto. He is a tenor leggero which is a light lyric tenor. Spinto tenors are so rare in mainstream music. I only know of one real Spinto tenor in non classical music and he sings Salsa music. Bruno doesn't have the weight, not metallic edge and even less does he have the volume output of a Spinto voice. His voice is boyish and bright with small volume output typical of a tenor leggero.

    @iWurk good video. I like your work. Would you please do a vocal range video of Peabo Bryson? They don't sing like that these days unfortunately and I'm sure he has a good vocal range.
