I just bought a pair off eBay a week ago and had no idea how I was gonna do the swap and poof your video pops up. Thanks for the videos, I have fixed my hatch problem and fender gap. Anybody who owns an 4th gen F-Body should be subscribed
I just bought some new LT1 tail lights for my Camaro because my old tail lights have melted very badly and caused a huge indentation on both tail lights because of the bulbs. The bulbs get very very hot and melted interplastic of the tail light housing and causes indentation. I bought new tail lights and now I'm going to install LEDs so my tail lights don't melt again. If I were you I would put LED bulbs in. Also that black panel is called a berger panel. Great video!
Thank you. Berger panel is a nick name for a flat black panel that Berger camaros received. Generally the melting issue is only on the ls1 style. LEDs do keep the heat down however.
First thing i wanted to do before i got mine was to replace taillights with 93 style..they look way better.and as you said most aftermarket ones are riiiicey
Do you know if this method applies but as in a opposite way? Like I want to use 97-02 Camaro Tail Light harness on my 2000 Firebird. Reason why I’m asking this is because here in in my European country red brake turn signals are strictly forbidden.
@@TWAMotorsports HA! No, I like those cars. I have a 2002 35th (red with the stripes), but I am sort-of on the lookout for a 1997 30th Anniversary LT4 car, white with the orange stripes. I'll bet it could run with (if not dominate) my LS1 car. They are rare. I just hope there is a fix for the Optispark by now.
Oh boy, this seems like a lot of work. Think I might just hire someone to do mine. But thank you for sharing with us. I appreciate it. You gained a new subscriber because I'm sure there are some things I can do myself... just not these. Lol Have a great day 👍
Great video bro! Looks great! I'm one of the few who actually prefer the ls1 style and aftermarket are just plain disgusting. Can't wait for the next one !
Hi Travis. I put OEM replacement rear taillights in my 94 Trans am I bought mine on eBay for 950. For the pair. A little pricey but they are in mint condition and not to mention they are original that came with the trans am.
great vid there, I thought that just changing the harness to -96 would cover that. funny thing that my 97 anniversary has the old style bulbs but the newer taillights. however changed those tails to the old style. still have to make this wiring modification. now searching an 98+-harness. after that: re-route the wire under the dash to make the change complete.
The easier way without rewire is to use a heat gun and separate housing half and swap the lenses half ... then a little silicone or other adhesive to seal it back up
Yeah I don't have a clue why they glued the backup lights in cuz on my 99 Camaro they fell out that's why I have a set of aftermarket tail lights in it because people want crazy prices for OEM ones
short update from my side: today i took the time to do the wiring so i have the taillamps, brake and turns on 2 bulbs on each side. first you have to connect the light blue wire on the brakeswitch under the dash to the white wire (without connection) coming down the steering column. don’t cut anything! (then you have the brakes at two bulbs each) turn remains on the inner bulb. second step: get a harness from a early fouth gen and install (this will result in taillights on all four bulbs) third step: connect a third wire from the inner bulb to the yellow on the left resp. green on the right (result is two brake/turn lights on each side and the tails on all for). probably you have to solder in another connector with three wires! don’t forget to get another turnsignal flasher or it may hyperflash or not flash at all!
You through a lot to get those taillights to work! I have a very clean low mileage 95 Camaro Z28 with lots of mods. I need to pull my taillights out and clean out the buckets! Fun cars to drive aren't they? 👍🏾
I just got me a 1995 Camaro and can’t wait to make it my first project car!!!
Nice. Good luck on your build
I like the 93-96 tails for the Camaro as well, they seem to flow better with the hatch
I agree Mike. They just look better

Thank you Ryan. Glad I could help
Camaro is looking good. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Thank you Kyle. It will be a long long road.

I went the cheap route and bought some of that translucent red paint (Nite Shade brand) and painted over my amber section.
Not a bad idea either
I had a 97 rs in high school. That was by far my favorite car. Even though it was notorious for the check engine light and leaky ttops
Yeah I feel like all the cars (fbodys) are old high school dream cars. I will take the bad with the looks lol
Amen!
Very awesome! Any plans for the suspension?
Lowering for now. Maybe more down the road
Looks great with the lt1 tails. I’m doing mine now because my white lenses jumped out the other day. 😅
Yeah seems common for them to fall out
Ive had all 3 styles on my Camaro (exports currently) and I just modified the housings and added rubber gaskets... but this is a good alternative :)
Yeah its probably not going to leak but I didn't want to risk it. Probably more work than needes
So the 97 have the same wiring as the 98-02 ?
That's correct
Got a question for ya.about to put a different rear end in .do i need to add the additive if im runnin full synthetic gear oil with limited slip?
Yes I still add even when it in the oil
@@TWAMotorsports cool appreciate the reply man.
@@trunkbangking your welcome buddy
Hey wanted to mention if you go on 4thgencustoms.com they have a sweet taillight overlay for the lt1 taillights
@@trunkbangking ok thank you for the heads up.
First thing i wanted to do before i got mine was to replace taillights with 93 style..they look way better.and as you said most aftermarket ones are riiiicey
I agree. Aftermarket suck for these cars.
can you use LED light instead?
Yes and I should have

Camaro lights don't fit firebirds
When do you plan to fix the loose steering column? I have to do it sometime to my 00 SS daily. Great videos as always!
I'm not sure. It will be a while.
Great! I was thinking on doing this, where did you get the lights and the new harness from?
Harness at a local salvage yard. Lights from Facebook market place
So the 1997 was also (the last) LT1 car, but it came with the LS1-style taillights with the amber? They have some oddballs in the lineup!
That is right crappy motor and taillights lol

@@jameswood678 there is a fix. Coil on plug conversion.
Great video man. Looking real nice.
Thank you Daniel

Thank you. Yeah those 97s had the new style. I just like the older style better.
Just bought somesequential tail light kit for my 98 bits.Iwill hook them up when it ever stops raininuphere bro
That will be cool
Stacy Dornan your gonna have to post a video on that install. How about a link on where you got it.
Tomato, Toemahtoe. I love the tri-color lights on my 94 Z28 LT1 car. You have a sweet ride I’d love to get a sniff.
Thank you
Funny, my name is Travis and I have a B4C Camaro too lol.
That is funny. Good name. Great car lol.
Funny thing. With the trunk open the Camaro has fins like a old Cadilac.
I never really noticed that but yeah it does kinda
You may have been able to repin the lt1 harness to have made it work.
I probably could have
The easier way without rewire is to use a heat gun and separate housing half and swap the lenses half ... then a little silicone or other adhesive to seal it back up
That sounds harder to me but I have never tried it.
I drilled holes at the lowest points of my tail lights so they don't fill with water.
Sometimes that helps water get in though.
Great vid. I wanna do this to my 02 SOM
Thank you
Couldn’t just repin the main connector?
that would have been a little more work but yes
Yeah I don't have a clue why they glued the backup lights in cuz on my 99 Camaro they fell out that's why I have a set of aftermarket tail lights in it because people want crazy prices for OEM ones
Definitely a dumb idea to glue them from the factory

Very nice. Good explanation 👍
why don't you just splice and add those sockets light so if the next owner wants a different tail light they can use the other socket light ?
Could do that too

They are fun cars.
Just got one in New zealand .
Wanting a dash pad not cracked
Nice. I need one of those too
I thought these taillights were just straight bolts on 🙃
Unfortunately no
Haha. My cooler bypassed itself right into the power steering syatem! WTF!!
Happens a lot
