    Finally got my lazy self out this evening for my hour exercise on the onza t master I picked up over the first lockdown. I surprised myself with a few things I did, after over ten years of not riding. But I want to say thank you Ali for inspiring me to get back out on a bike. Tried these pivots a few times got about a 270 degree turn, not bad after all this time.

    Awesome. I just got into mountain biking about a year ago, but there are no mountains around here. Your videos are making me want to learn a bunch of trials stuff - so much so that I finally dug my old unicycles out after sitting in storage for about 20 years. I used to do a bunch of trials-like riding on them when I was a teenager. Anyway...my trail bike probably isn't the best for trials - might have to get something more friendly to trials riding this summer.

    My 20" is down for repairs atm. I was trying to progress my RW Pivots just earlier on my 94 Marin Muirwood fitted with HS11s and an old maxxis High roller on the rear. Absolute lump at trials. I'm sure this vid will be very useful. Thanks Ali (Thali!)

  • @danyarchambault7121
    @danyarchambault7121 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks. The slow motion and explanations should bring me a great change... up yet I can only make single try on most move of parcours because I can reverse roll only without much balance on small distances and fail most of time to reorient the bike after I fail to swing to back hop without changing direction. So I always got 5 points without reaching exit of any parcour. I can keep on 3 to 4 times more than the 10 to 15 seconds which was my limit last year on a mountain bike. But reorientation is what cuts short almost all my attemps.
    Practice time again!
    Thanks for the awsome teacher!

    I have the 10 degree version dialled ;-). The only problem being it takes a few of them to get round.
    It's a timely video for lock down back garden trials. This is one thing that an algae covered slippery patio will be an advantage for. I doubt my better half will accept that as a reasonable excuse not to jet-wash it though.

    Hey Ali very nice video I want to start with street trials never done any trials before do you think the flow plus is a good bike to start? Keep up the great work! :)

    • @lvburik
      @lvburik 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not Ali but I do own a flow bike and can say that it's a really good bike to start on. However you should keep in mind that you don't need a trials bike to do trials. I started learning trials on my other bike, and after a little while bought a flow when I realized I really liked trials. As far as other trials bikes go I have not ridden that many, I've tried one Czar(don't remember the model) bike and a bike someone welded himself(geometry similar to the fourplay). I can say that my flow bike feels a lot sturdier than both. Although the Czar bike was defenetly lighter the flow felt more confidence inspiring. I can't quite give a good opinion about the welded bike(not that it matters since you can't buy one) when riding it I felt like the bike had a really great geometry but the frame was just not confidence inspiring(have only ridden it for like 5 second so maybe it would get better when you get used to it). I can also say that getting a trials bike really sped up my progress in trials moves on my MTB, but I feel like If I had stuck to only my MTB I would have also gotten to where I am now! Good luck with stating trials!

    • @theo6245
      @theo6245 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lvburik Thanks for your answer I know that you don't need a trials bike to do trials that's why I'm currently trying to learn some trial moves on my MTB and when I get better with it and can do like the basics than I want to get the flow that is like my plan. Have a nice Day and Thank you really much!

  • @denebola4548
    @denebola4548 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the video 'Inspired South West: behind the scenes' you are doing a rolling rear wheel pivot on a slight bank. When I'm doing these the front foot crank seems to work against the move. Is that why you are backpedalling during the pivot (see min 16:28)? A bit earlier though in the same video the move is done without backpedalling (see min 16:14). Could you comment on this? Thanks, Alain

    I’ve often thought that a group trials riding class would have a lot of overlap with a martial arts class.
    Can’t say for pivots but certainly for spinning kicks, getting your eyes around and on target is the key to the technique. The faster you do that, the more accurate, powerful and balanced the kick.
