    I upgraded from si to type r. Just 100% worth it if yoou can swing it. The si is really good. The type R is better in every way. I do think it would be better than just modding an si for another 100hp, too. There's more to it than just power. I don't know that you could mod an si with the 15k or so difference to be better than the type r. Equal to maybe but then there's the fact that a type r comes warranted like that and wouldn't have a drastic lowered reliability durability that the si would then hypothetically have.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah I agree. Anyone putting $15k into the Si should just get a Type-R. Sure it will be fast. But speed isnt everything especially in a FWD platform. Also the Type-R holds really good value. A modified Si will be worth the same as a stock one. Stock for stock both are really good at their price tags

    4.9 sec. That is generous. And under near perfect conditions.
    But these are different cars. They just happen to both be called a Civic. I think they only share the front doors, windows, and a few other things. The jump in difference is probably the widest than any other brand. An M3 is probably closer to a mid-level 3 series than these two. Yes, the $15k is worth the premium for the Type R over the Si. It was a super rainy day and the road I was on unfortunately had mud all over the ground. Is what it is

    SI has a better interior and it has a sunroof. R is faster but that's useless for most ppl who just drive to work and grocery store everyday. The spoiler on the R feels a little gaudy not to mention the bright red seats plus no sunroof. Performance the R wins but for a more sensible looking "sport" option I'd take the civic

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can see that. The R is for people who are going to the track, spirited mountain drives or AutoX events. Si does a good job being a sporty daily. However Type-R holds incredible value. So it will probably cost more money to own the Si

    If you don't put the Si in Sport it's a dog. Not that it's really that powerful but when I bought my 23 I didn't even know Sport made such a difference in drive quality.

    The 1.5T was made to please CAFE, not the performance enthusiast.
    The SI deserved a better powertrain focused in performance and not MPG.
    The problem with this powertrain is the low ceiling it has in terms of performance.
    A simple tune might toast your clutch, an upgrade that is very expensive on this platform.
    To reach stock CTR power, you need FBO and a turbo upgrade. Once you get close to 300whp, you are at the limit of the stock internals.
    At this lever, every day that the car lasts without blowing the engine is a blessing.
    Contrary to the K20C1, it can reach over 500whp on the stock clutch and engine.

    The Type R has a tiny gas tank, not suitable for a daily driver.

      Not really, I don't have any issues with it.

    Type R being over 35k is truly a joke . Especially with the terrible quality control honda has been putting out these past 10 years . This thing is the same price as m240 awd bmw 😂 let that sink in

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well these have been holding strong values for 3 years. So seems like they are very well worth the price. Have you driven one?

      @BrosFOURRSpeed i drove a 2020 back in 2019 . They wanted 42k i offered 35k. I ended up getting the si for 24k out the door as I wanted a 4 door manual and I liked the sedans look better . They're nice , but they're cheaply put together. For about 3k you can make a si quicker than a stock r . 50k for a fwd is bonkers though. I blame the new generation for destroying car prices 😂

      @@thomasmatarazzo198 Drove it on the twisty mountain roads. All out speed isn’t what these are about. These are drivers cars for the turns and handle insane when you push them hard

      @thomasmatarazzo198 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @BrosFOURRSpeed I did not , I live in Florida . Fwd are not made for twisties 😂. Much better handling cars for far less

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      On flat FL roads you won't see the benefits of the Type-R. In NC we have twisty country roads and mountain roads for days. Night and day driving difference even on the quick country road I tested these. But with all the cars I drive. The Miata and GR86 are probably the only cheaper cars that handle this good. But those also don't have the power or practicality

      Obviously the Type R is way more performance oriented, but cool to compare to see between the two.
