Oh, I love Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel, but there was a particular suspension in this version toward the end of the song that was rather gripping. Very well done!
The first hymn also had a Rus’ Ukrainian melody, but you’ll never get ROCOR away from the Kremlin party line. The author of Carol of the Bells was murdered by Moscow agents, BTW.
@anastunya thank you. I had only skimmed thru the songs but saw they were nicely sung so i didn't pick up on the Ukrainian connection with the first one.. I thought that the Carol of the Bells song was quite old. I must ask some Ukrainian friends about that tomorrow.. Thank you
You all did a wonderful job with these carols! I wish I'd found this yesterday when you posted it - however despite advent being over, if there were any occasion worthy of taking some extra time to celebrate and reflect on, surely it's the birth of Christ. Also, I've saved this in my playlist for next year. Merry Christmas to you and all your parishioners. ☦🎄
Some Orthodox parishes follow the New Calendar and Nativity is celebrated on December 25th like Western Christianity. Whereas, Old Calendar parishes, trail the New Calendar by 13 days… which means Christmas is celebrated on January 7th. The New Calendar parishes celebrate most of the Liturgical events 13 days before the Old Calendar parishes. The exception to this - Great and Holy Lent. It seems to me that the Old Calendar aligns more with the lunar cycles.
Glory to God!! Very well done!!
Χριστός Γεννάται! Christ is Born!
Thank you for this beauty!
Beautiful Americana. It's ok to be Heritage American.
Amazing. Heavenly. The vanguard of the Holy Spirit in America. So important
CHRIST IS BORN!
GLORIFY HIM!
Merry Christmas, and thank you for sharing this chariling.
Glorify Him!
We would love to sing these next year at our ROCOR mission, St. Clement of Rome Mission in Rome, Ga. We are Appalachian too!
Indeed! ❤☦️
Thank you for bringing Merriment and Joy to all of us. 🙏🏻☦️🎄
Quite stunning

Father Philaret! Wonderful seeing you directing here. Hope to see you again soon, in God's will.
Beautiful! Glory to God!
Your cadence is enjoyable.
I love this!
At about 32, Carol of the Bells. Lovely..
Everything has been lovely, but i happen to be drawn to this song always

I look forward to this every year - So glad you sang Sherburne! It's my favourite Sacred Harp song. Love from Northumbria :)
Christ is born - Golrify Him!

Some Orthodox jurisdictions, eg OCA, follow the Gregorian calendar. Others the Julian calendar.
Wait the Orthodox don’t celebrate Christmas until the 7th of January though. Regardless, Merry Christmas from a Southern Roman Catholic

The Latvian, Finnish, and Estonian Orthodox celebrate Easter on the western calendar. @@realmccoy124
