Oh, I love Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel, but there was a particular suspension in this version toward the end of the song that was rather gripping. Very well done!

You should connect with the English Village Carols tradition, it's where these came from. Also known as Sheffield Carols, we've discovered other survivals in Suffolk, Sussex and Kent, Wales has a distinctly different heritage, and there's no reason not to discover more in the Debatable Lands.

Thanks so much for this. It will be Epiphany on Sunday and I wanted to have a bit more Christmas before the season was over (I'm Catholic.). As it happens, my family has roots in Appalachia. My father and mother grew up in Hazard, KY. My grandfather mined coal there. I haven't visited since I was five after my father died. I have no memories. Fortunately he is buried at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery and I can visit him. Thank you again and a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
