    Out of all the episodes, this one is probably my number one of "hope this gets turned into a full-blown series".

      And, now, We know TO-B1 is actually a cyborg construction of a nearly-killed Jedi Padawan named, Toby. So, he was sensing and wielding The Force in actuality. Just like Professor Mitaka was really Jedi Master Mitaka.

    The one frame of all the red sabers igniting is so absolutely spine shivering.

    Fun fact: The idea of lightsabers changing color based upon the wielder was almost in Return of The Jedi. Vader was going to examine Luke's new saber and when turning it on, it would be red. This was abandoned for unknown reasons, but that idea did make it into the comic adaptation of the film, since it was based on a earlier script.

      I don't know a whole lot, but don't Sith actually change the color of their lightsaber by bleeding a normal crystal?

      @@coranbaker6401 Yeah they basically "torture" it and then the corrupted result is a red crystal.

      @@coranbaker6401 well i believe that originally, George Lucas had imagined it as the lightsaber reflecting the type of force the wielder was most attuned to, if walked the path of the dark side not only would your lightsaber crystal would become corrupted, hence red, but even your own body would become disfigured because of the dark forces the user was channeling. after all George took a lot of inspiration from eastern religions and culture when he made the Jedi, think stuff like chi and chakras but in a sci fi setting. but i think in got switched out because of how popular it got and it probably would confuse people, especially children, so they leaned more into the sci fi. this is all from from what I can remember from years ago so idk how accurate it is but you get the idea.

      @@davidvillarreal8351 George also liked to try to contrast the lightsaber colors with the background shots as much as possible e.g. Luke's saber in Return is green to contrast with the blue sky of Tatooine and Obi-wan's is blue on Mustafar.

    This episode was my absolute favorite. It had the best contained story (although it could totally continue into a longer series), best characterization, amazing plot twist, just loved it.

    i love that this episode is basically just bases on obi wans quote in a new hope " your eyes can deceive don't you don't trust them" with how the twist is completely subvert the idea that f they wear black there darkside users and if they wear white they must be good.

    Great reaction, SOS Brothers. Yes, this was my favorite short of the anthology. And, the studio that made it, stated that they have ideas for where this story could go. This takes place hundreds of years after Episode IX. I agree: I want this to be an animated anthology, a comic book series, a novel, and a theatrical film. Disney/Lucasfilm Ltd., get on that, please.

    The color changing crystal actually was going to be in Star Wars. It even appears in the Marvel comics for Return of the Jedi. When Darth Vader picks up Luke's new lightsaber on the landing platform on Endor, turns it on, and gets a red blade when Darth does. Luke has a green saber when he is wielding it.
    However, that plot point was dropped during the actual filming of RotJ.

    Fun bit of lost lore, in an old Return of the Jedi comic, the color of the lightsaber changed depending on who wielded it. Sith got the red color while Jedi got blue and green.

    This episode definitely benefits from the longer run time, I hope if there’s ever a season 2 we get even longer episodes, like 30-40 min, and Ofc new studios in like Mappa and Ufotable, and Ofc a chance for some of these studios to continue these stories

    Honest and semi-controversial opinion: I think "Lop and Ocho" is both better and should be expanded upon more than "The Ninth Jedi". While the Ninth Jedi set up the world and lore to take it down any direction, "Lop and Ocho" presented much more sympathetic characters and give a much more defined goal that the story would follow.

      It really makes no sense to even compare the two. Their circumstances and narratives are entirely different, so they’re going to be drastically different characters to suit that. It’s like saying you prefer Revan over Luke.

    • @RayShadow278
      @RayShadow278 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not to mention Disney doesn't really deserve the credit for these shorts. Sure they gave the green light to the studios to make "something" about Star Wars, but that's about it.

    I'm unfamiliar with what their problem with Grey Jedi is, gonna be real.

    • @HystericalHyena24
      @HystericalHyena24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is copied from an article on screen rant but explains the problem with Gray Jedi as a concept: The idea of a Gray Jedi, who uses both the Force and the dark side, doesn’t work in either continuity because it assumes that the dark side can be used without eventually succumbing to its corruption. Using both dark and light powers is acceptable as a gameplay mechanic in video games like the Knights of the Old Republic or Jedi Knight series, but the original six films (and other canon and Legends material) establish that this can’t be done without consequences for Force users. The Force isn’t a scale with light on one end, dark on the other, and gray in the middle. The Force is the fundamental energy created and nourished by life, and the dark side is a corruption of it.

    • @chrismarkwardt4685
      @chrismarkwardt4685 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same, there is even a character that literally says they are a grey jedi in the KOTOR series, it's a very established concept in the franchise and not some random fan theory.

    • @FlubbedPig
      @FlubbedPig 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@HystericalHyena24 I could have sworn that the "Dark side is a corruption of the Force" thing was treated as philosophical, not literal. Like, where it's framed as Jedi philosophical teaching, rather than an actual fundamental mechanic in how the Force functions.
      But maybe that was just KOTOR, which is why those writers thought Grey Jedi made sense.

    • @HystericalHyena24
      @HystericalHyena24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@FlubbedPig Yeah, most of the Gray Jedi stuff comes from the KOTOR and Jedi Knight games where your actions as a player were separate from gameplay and story. You could be as evil as you liked and still end up with the good ending based on a conversation with Bastilla for example. The old D20 Star Wars game, of which KOTOR is based did it a bit better. Drawing on the force added a d6 to a roll, but by specifying the dark side you'd get a d8 instead. This however gave you a point of corruption and each time you tried to draw on the force the more corruption you had would make it harder to not draw on the dark side.

    • @HystericalHyena24
      @HystericalHyena24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@chrismarkwardt4685 Are you talking about Jolee Bindo? He's actually an interesting case of why you can't be Gray. The second he joins your party he starts either saving the galaxy or dooming it, swayed by the player. It's like the Bendu character from Rebels. Their neutral stance is only possible when in isolation from other sapient life. Once they begin interacting with the galaxy at large again they're swayed: Jolee mimicking the player, the Bendu to the dark side. Because life isn't meant to live in isolation. They were imbalanced, just of a different sort from most Dark Side users.
