I read along time ago, “Gardeners live in beautiful places, because they create it.” Which tells us that everyone can create their charmed life. Thank you for showing us how.

What you're saying about it being intentional is so true. I spend so much time & energy decorating our home and working on our garden but I do it for me. My husband and occasional guest enjoy my efforts but I love the home that I've created. And my garden is so improving with your influence. Thank you!

Thank you, Linda! I enjoy what you are saying, Linda. Being in my garden, with the bugs and constantly growing grass, er weeds, and flowers, I am happier (especially after long Covid is ravaging my energy). I, too, enjoy being a block from food, shopping and coffee, but when I am in my garden, I regain my strength and energy. 1st of all, I always love your outfits. The shot from down on the sidewalk of all of the front landscaping is so beautiful. I have solar lights along the pathways, solar lanterns ,and a patio umbrella with solar lights. I love yours on the shepherd hooks on the side of the house. Everything looks so pretty lit up and the house is coming along beautifully! p.s. I also love the string lights people hang outside but they don't work for my house.

I had a lantern from QVC and really liked it but it didn’t last. I would like to get a solar light instead of using batteries. I find that since I am getting older that I have been getting rid of things and am conscious of what I really need vs don’t need. There are umbrellas that have lights in the underneath. Probably could hang your own though.

We have a choice in how we view life! I used to be such a Negative person. And I was very unhappy. Then I learned about gratitude. And it changed my life drastically for the better and many years after I am still very happy. I control the kinds of people I let in my life, if they bring negativity, I don't remain friends or I avoid them. I have many good friends now and we support each other in many ways. I started a gratitude Journal and sometimes it was very difficult to find something I can be grateful for in the state my mind was in at the time. But it got easier and easier each day and now I tell God how grateful I am for the the many blessings He gives me!!! The choice is always ours!

Things we get from others are the best!! At 68, some of my favorite things came from family or friends that are no longer with me, and yet, they are, every time I see or touch, something that was gifted to me by special people in my life, and are treasures that can’t be replaced. And, the feelings that they bring are the greatest blessings. And so, I like to gift people with things that may have meaning for them, so that when I am gone, hopefully, I will be remembered with fondness, when they see it or use it.

Less is more, but you and your friend peddle amazon and link everything- sustainable, not really. You love your neighborhood in Oklahoma but “don’t build near my Colorado land” , no, no. Your gardeners work hard and you Pat them on the back “great work”, but didn’t see them at your “wine party “. Oh well business is business and this is a business. “Linda’s Favorite Product Guide” of course, a business -

I hate to be a pessimist, but those lights along the outer sidewalk area (and even on the East side of your house) 'may' be too tempting to passersby in the dark. I would expect a few of them to go-on-a-walkabout.....

I've driven cross country with my daughter twice (please, God, not again anytime soon!) when her job required her to live in California and then in DC. Both times, by the time we reached the coast, we only had 2-3 days before she had to begin work. We thrifted and used Facebook Marketplace to outfit each apartment. By the end of day 3, she had furniture, plants in pots, pictures on the walls and plans to fill in the missing pieces on her own. When the time came to move again, she sold most everything on Facebook Marketplace. It was a super fun experience and we felt good about buying used for almost everything. Good luck, Leah!

I believe gardeners are some of the happiest people because they do create their own beautiful life. It is a joy to garden and share the results with others. I smile when I hear Stewart in the background chuckling when Linda talks about something....he does indeed add to the show although we do not see him. I have lanterns on my porches, patios and garden walkways. They are on timers....I will definitely be checking out those solar candles. I do not use real flame candles outside as I live on the edge of a woodland in the country. I love thrifting for furniture, dishes, books, art and the list goes on..........I love antiquing also as I find high quality pieces for less than in the shops. Enjoyed seeing your lanterns lite at dusk. Nothing like candle light.

Then I glued gnome figures on the front porch and added solar fairy lights inside. To weather proof it I applied several coats of high gloss varnish. Then I placed it by my pond.

I love your positivity and your message. It is an important reminder that we can all create a wonderful life around us. I am a gardener too and I live in a very busy summertime resort (Sag Harbor) . A lot of people I know just complain about the summer traffic and the summer people etc. But people forget that the money that pours in here in the summer drives the economy. I do find that I hide in my garden a lot as it is my paradise. But I try and step back and create a life I enjoy and appreciate life so much and don’t need to be out in the crowds of summer.

How do I light my out side? This time of year, I just stay INSIDE. I'm in Central Texas and even when we keep the bugs down, it's just too hot during July, August and part of September to go outside. The rest of the time tho, my husband hung colored tiny lights at Halloween, never took them down, then Christmas lights on top of those. And never took them down. We have a little patio fence. Surprisingly, we love it and so do our neighbors.

I have lanterns on my deck...I had my carpenter install shorter shepard's hooks and the lanterns hang from them. Inside the lanterns I have OUTDOOR battery operated candles that I get on Amazon....I get the 2 1/2" so they fit down in my ceramic lanterns. The candles have timers, tight plugs on the bottom so water doesn't get in, are plastic cause wax melts. I have too much shade to use solar lanterns/candles.

...I have low-voltage landscape lighting (I installed myself -- it was easy) and various solar (tasteful) lights throughout my beds. I use solar flood/spotlights to illiminate specimen plantings also. I have an area where I would like to place the string lights, but I havent gotten to it yet. I had experienced quality issues also with the QVC lanterns; I have 2 sizes and just swapped out other timer pillars; they're on my patio table. One ended up free, as it arrived with shattered glass (and i mean smithereens!). It's just open-sided now on all 4 sides. C'est la vie. 🤷🏼‍♀️👩🏼‍🌾💚 =^..^=

I have the battery ones also. Very expensive to replace so most of mine just sit around for decoration. They still look wonderful!!!!

I got some beautiful solar hanging lanterns at Dollar Tree for 5 dollars each . I have gotten lots of compliments and have been very pleased with them.

Your so right. Less is more! When we moved ten years ago to our retirement home we had 40 years of "stuff" Luckily we had a son that just bought, his first home and we gave him a lot of furniture and home goods. But I still love to shop, and realize that I also love to thrift. so if I buy something I donate something. I also volunteer at a local St. Vincents thrift store ( the proceeds go back into the community and to Catholic social services) it's amazing what people donate, clothes with the tag still on them, or toys and books that look brand new. I hardly shop at a real store anymore.

I use a lot of lanterns and all are solar, including pathway lights. Love them! My very favorite ones are the kind that look like fire inside…they last so long and also have totally kept the raccoons coming close to my house!

4/4/2024 Panama City, Florida. I'll be 70 in three months and I don't take anything for granted. I really feel so blessed. This year I've placed a bunch of fruit trees in their pots all over my front yard. I'm trying to create a fruit garden. i also created a flower garden where I had a vegetable garden in front of my house. so far so good. my mulberry tree is loaded with mulberries, my pink grapefruit dwarf lots of small fruit so far , my plumb tr is a dwarf too apparently has so many plumbs on it, there's just too many to keep up with. The apple tree i bought a couple of months ago has quite a few little apples so far. i have two acres of land and hurricane Michael took so many of my trees, so I figured I would just replace them with trees that will feed me. I watch you quite often. You help me so very much with all your tips on gardening. Thank you Linda. Beverlee

Living with someone on oxygen, I had to switch to battery operated candles years ago. Then finding outside in summer they do melt…voila! PVC battery operated candles. Now solar…..who knew! Thanks for letting me know❣️

My home is small, so I buy only things I will love for a very long time. I do change things seasonally when I can. My friend purchases decorations that when she is tired of she donates, usually to me, then to thrift stores. Different strokes for different folks!!! Neither is wrong in my opinion. I do agree with your philosophy. My sofa was really old and worn out. I wanted a new sofa but didn't really to spend $300 to $500 for a new one since my goal is to pay off credit cards. My daughter found a nice leather sofa in great shape for $100. And I purchased a small lady sized recliner chair for $25. My living room now has comfortable seating. They came from a friend of hers.

Linda, I continue to resonate with your content on this channel, and enjoyed the discussion of mindfulness. Thank you.
I love some landscape lighting and I have recently added a few solar lights to my walkways. If one is concerned about the future of our Planet, it’s important to understand the effects of lighting up our neighborhoods 24/7, the upward and ongoing light provided by string lighting that’s prevalent in most neighborhoods today is harmful to our planet! Sadly. Please educate your viewers about sensible use of outdoor lighting! It’s so important, and a little awareness can go a long way! Thank you.

Yes , you live a charmed life. But it is you that created your environment. Every little detail... a flower arrangement, a book, a glowing candle, a seed pod on a book, a basket, a color, a topiary. Its all you! I call my home "The world according to me" . Everything has a feeling or a meaning, either visually or emotionally . Yes you are surrounded by some plant fairies most of us don't have .But we don't have a garden blog either! And that you also created. Love all the flags, which I use in every pot and pillar on the 4th. One little suggestion.... when you showed your 4th of July outfit you threw the little flag on the ground. Flag etiquette says the flag should never touch the ground or floor. Just an FYI... some people just don't know this fact.

Hello Linda, quick question: I went to an antique store this past Saturday and came across a cute pitcher priced at $39. Looking it over I thought "do I need it?" and as I held it in my hand and looked at the bottom only to see the original Goodwill tag priced it at $3.99. Would it be offensive to ask to pay the $3.99?

Really like the lanterns. I keep electric candles in the windows year-round, which also helps illuminate the window boxes. Makes me feel like we're living in a B&B.

I ordered that solar lantern by your recommendation what a mistake! After almost a month it didn't work, I tried to get in touch with someone in Amazon and of course it's impossible, finally I was able to chat with a computer and I was told that since it's a month that I received the light can NOT be returned. I wasn't aware that this product was made in China. Cheap product! will not recommend to anyone.

Linda, I get what you are saying & yes you are very fortunate you’ve been able to buy a place that you love & found it quickly in a neighborhood you were already familiar with & loved. Its so refreshing to see someone reach their dreams. I wish we all could. It’s been difficult for the hubs & I to get to that place in our lives due to the housing market being out of control. We moved to our location for a job 25 yrs ago with one of 3 daughters. We had no desire to live here but a job is a job. Now we recently retired & have no reasons or connections to want to stay. We had hopes to move closer to the coast or even close to one of our daughters but now is nearly impossible to get anything even close to what we have now that we can afford for average folks. We are heartbroken about the timing& that in our later years we are stuck in a place that we never wanted to be & has no meaning. Also the neighborhood has changed & most of our friends have moved away as well as our 3 daughters. At age 70 we don’t have a lot of time to keep waiting for the housing market to correct itself & not sure it will which keeps me feeling a sense of urgency & desperation. The old saying “be happy with what you have” just isn’t cutting it because we’ve been waiting for years to be able to move to a place where our heart is with meaning & contentment. The hubs & I feel like time is wasting. I’m not giving up but man it kills me to know I’m wasting precious time here.❤
