I watch your videos often , this one had a different vibe to it. Felt a lil challenged. When you mentioned toward end about his lot you said, know you now what you can do w a basic suburban lot it almost felt like an insult toward his space. I watched his face change a lil. Not sure how many suburban lots you've been on but his isn't basic. I've lived in several cities and his large is quite yard. I'd love to have his yard space. He's created a beautiful space. Nothing basic about it.
Holy moly!!! I was SHOCKED when I saw the BOTH of you together!! I had to drop everything and WATCH THIS. I absolutely love both your channels. Seriously, you two are my go to garden gurus. Not only for the great information, tips and tricks I learn, but also the quality of your videos. Both of you are awesome!
Yeah! You two are the best presenters out there...content is always clear, concise and creative! And those Jersey accents are so endearing! Love you guys and everything you've done for this community!
I’m 74 and started with a4x5’ garden patch when I was10. Radishes lettuce and bunch onions. My grandfather had farmed and ranched. Watch him in later years, I learned to grow root vegs. besides radishes. I went on to raise rabbit for meat and had a veg. garden. Basically just small veg gardens until we moved out of Ca into Oregon. At 55 I started larger garden patches, raising chickens. At 70 I planted a 16 tree orchard and put up a game fence to protect my investment. At 74 I replaced and planted 6 more trees. Happy to say that raising fruit trees and my own food is most rewarding in my Garden of Eattin!😋
Thanks for the inspiration, we're nearing retirement, just about doubled the size of the garden & now starting some fruit trees. Fruit trees...I'm terrified. 😁 But if you can do all you're doing at your age, I can figure out fruit trees at 60.
Now we just have to get the 4 best gardening channels together... The Millenial Gardener, The Gardening Chanel with James Prigioni and Tuck, The Epic Gardener and Self Sufficient Me. Now that would be the bomb!
You make me feel so bad😊😂. Maybe... When I watch James I DO NOT have wholesome thoughts. Lol. They are both great. I've learned so much over the years!
I live in a townhome with a side, front and back garden space totalling about 2500 sq ft. I want to encourage people to garden and grow food. I'm 65 and husband 71. We grow organically with companion and trap plants. The best overall to deter bugs are Cayenne Pepper plants, Petunias , Nasturiums, and Mexican Marigolds. Depending on the time of year I grow 11 dwarf fruit trees, two types of Green Sage, Thyme, Oregano,Mint, Pineapple Sage, Parseley,Cilantro , Yerba Buena, Chives, Basil, Dill ,Bunching Onions, Strawberries, Spinach, Green beans, Zucchini, Butternut, Crookneck, and Spagetti Squash. Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Radiches, Poblano Peppers , Jalepeno, Anaheim Peppers Cayenne Peppers, Red, Yellow and Green Bell Peppers, Arugala, Chard Cabagge , Kale, Garlic. My yard has decorative bulbs, flowers, miniature pine trees, Clematis,. I think that the diversity of plants confuses the bugs, and draws in birds, toads and predator bugs. It still looks very nice which is a lot of the work " arrangeing the garden each spring" Here in North Carolina there is every bug known to man and maybe a few more ! One trick against the vine borer : Start Zucchini squash seeds indoors in Dec or Jan, then plant them out asap when the weather warms. That way you beat the vine borer. Then plant Zucchini seeds again mid July outdoors and get a second crop also beating the vine borer's 3rd rgg laying. Don't grow Zucchini in summer. Also my other Squash like Butter nut is literally grown in a forest of Mammoth Dill and Cayenne Peppers to watd off squash bugs and bine borers. DO NOT A SQUASH BUG THE SMELL BRINGS IN MORE OF THEM. DO NOT PUT GARDEN LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY ATTRACT BUGS ! Use a fire pit when entertaining. Make Smudge sticks with herb trimming and flower dead heading. Put Bat boxes, birds houses. Spray Zucchini with a milk water combo in the sunlight not in the evening to prevent powdery mildew. Water only in the morning or if absolutely necassary just gently water the dirt, avoiding the leaves , and NO SPASHING dirt spores up on plants. I wash dry chop and freeze Basil,Dill , Chives. Bunching Onions and Parseley so I have them all winter for cooking. Sage and Thyme thrive in zone 8b winters. I blanch and freeze the greens. Roast chop and freeze hot peppers. I can fruits, vegatables and dry herbs. Leek powxer is great in soup. I hot water bath can "Candied Jalapenos". I make Mint syrup for cocktails. Put a little 100% Moonshine in it and it lasts along time in the fridge. Well folks gotta get busy ! I hope someone is inspired !
"Start small, start slow"- perfect advice and advice I wish I would have been given when I started gardening 13 years ago. I tell people to learn a lot about a couple of plants each year instead of a little about a lot of plants all at once. What a great collab!
It's true. Anyone can grow food in a big open area. When you have less to work with, you have to get creative. It forces you to plan and design, and when you get into that mindset, you make better decisions and work smarter. Ample land and good growing conditions don't make good gardeners. Challenges do.
That small garden is at least trice the surface of our house. Thankfully we have a greenhouse communal garden nearby where I rent a plot. Our own garden won't fit more than a few carrots.
Came here to say that we all absoliteky adored this! Props to James' brother as well! Thank you for doing this guys! Also what an honour to meet Tuckie too! As always, we learned alot from you three! Oh and go hard dale ❤ three little girls yell oit excitedly "Dale!!!!!🎉"
What a surprise! I subscribed to James 3 years ago, and after starting to follow Your channel last year...I just subscribed TODAY. Reading the comments, I'm not surprised that MANY viewers are watching YOU TWO. Thanks, I hope You invited James to come to North Carolina to interview You! 🍅
Giacomo, Antonio.... Do you know how long I've been waiting to watch two Italo-Americans have a sit down like this? At least ever since you started the teaser a few days ago! Love you guys! It's kinda killing me. I wish I was more grounded in my early 20's. for me there was no Netflix at the time. I love the discussion about growing in a small space. One of my uncles growing up grew hundreds of pound of cucuzzi on a lot 14 feet wide! Great to see doing this together. Loving the grape arbor. Had one of those growing up. Unfortunately around here raccoons get most.
Hey guys, very cool video! I'm a Philly area gal (Bucks County) now living in southern Maryland. Just a FYI, more property doesn't equal more productivity. We have 3 acres and the wildlife is way more destructive. Groundhog families, moles, voles, deer, raccoons and squirrels roam free. A more challenging gardening experience than a suburban plot. Don't let anyone tell you deer don't eat asparagus....
Land can be a challenge. It's all in the management. I personally consider fences mandatory for gardening for the reasons you mentioned. My plan would be to take the acreage and subdivide it into quarter acre plots that are individually fenced. Grow the edibles with fencing, then connect them one at a time with pathways planted with native support plants that are deer and bird resistant in between. That's my personal plan for the future, anyway.
That was an awesome collaboration. I've been organic gardening for decades - and watching you and James for years. I always learn something new from you both to utilize in my own gardens. So enjoy the pups, Tuck and Dale - the gardening fur-babies. Blessings. Sherry 🥰 🙏 🐶🍅🧅🫑🍎🍇
No way! Y’all and Epic Gardening are the main garden channels I turn to daily for help. Doing my first garden this year and it’s been a journey! We have red clay soil with hard pan so I made a raised bed and I’m currently clearing dead trees and briars to make a much larger in ground garden for NEXT year. Gotta prep and amend the soil and all that good stuff but I can do it with y’all’s help!
Sounds like west Texas. Raised beds are a must in clay soil. This is my first vegetable garden and d I literally watch these two everyday. I’m in central New Mexico and we have sand and clay. Fun stuff.

Lots of lessons to learn by experience. We have a wonderful garden family including the comments.
You definitely can do it. My yard has been a labor of love for over 5 years. I've built it out basically one Saturday at a time, but it's amazing how far it's come over time. Keep it up and you won't even recognize the place after a few years.
WOW! I can't believe that you went to James garden! So amazing to see two gardeners that I love in the same video! hehe 😄 Thank you for this, it was incredible! 🙂🎈

I’m a first year gardener and I love that I’ve found both of your channels and just found this “60 minutes interview”! Growing tomatoes, peppers, carrots, zucchini, two types of squash, watermelon, pumpkins, and corn! You both have been so inspiring and informational. Thanks to MG I’ve got shade cloth over my crops in the July sunshine on the highest UV days and James has inspired me to look for disease and pest resistant varieties of plants. Love you guys!
I concur on the favorite gardening professors! But this interview brings up a question I've always had: will we ever get to know The Millennial Gardener's name??? ;-)
Wow a great video with my favorite gardeners. I am a beginner gardener at 69. I am inspired by your raised gardens and learned so much about pruning fruit trees and growing vegetables from both your channels. This show is truly a treat. Thank you! My love to Dale and the “boss”
I giggled when I saw the title. 2 of my favorite TH-camrs colab. It was great. You both have inspired me. I give my food forest and fig tree success to you two. Thanks
Wha…! When gardening worlds collide! Great collab, gentlemen. 👍🏻 It was fun to see the naked off-season garden of James! NJ is the Garden State, y’all.
I am just getting back into a little gardening,, after about fifteen years, with only growing peppers and tomatoes in the past. Well, I'm back and starting again with tomatoes and peppers in containers. It's been very enjoyable and I always appreciate the tips for new gardeners.
James is the first gardener on TH-cam that I watched. Just started watching your channel since we have similar gardening zones. I subscribed because your energy and passion for nature. Love you guys! You two are the best!
"People don't usually see me over the shelves "😂😂😂. That killed me. I'm a bit vertically challenged, so I'm not hating but I literally was just thinking that you two standing next to each other would be like Shaq and Kevin Hart. Perfect timing
I have seen this in my suggested feed for a while and now was the time to watch it. I enjoyed it and realized I like the guest best when he isn’t going all hyper crazy on camera 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
Joisy boys! I lived in Jersey for 17 years before I was able to escape! This was a really fun video, thanks both of you for taking the time to do this.

The best two gardening channels on TH-cam
I'll 3rd that 🎉😅
I was just going to say that!☺
Right!!! I love these too. They aren't in my zone but if he can keep his southern zoned trees alive so can I.

I really wish he had interviewed Tuck, the real gardening brain trust in the Prigioni household.

James Prigioni is the best on TH-cam. He works with nature, not like commercialy grown agriculture.
💯 looooooove the idea of using cardboard boxes too! I’ve been doing this in my garden it’s gone fantastic!

I swear I've questioned if James' plants are even real because they always look sooo shockingly perfect! He definitely knows what he's doing.

We would welcome you with open arms. Make sure you come for a while, as it is a really big place with a load to see and do.
That would be amazing!
Sorry guys, but the group is incomplete without Jess from Roots & Refuge! ❤
And don't forget Laura from Garden Answer. I love Roots and Refuge Farm too.
Thanks for interviewing James. His energy has made him one of my favorite gardeners. And it introduced me to you.
Really? I find his energy exhausting! 😅 I have enough stress in my everyday life, so I really don't want more stress from watching YT.
You two are the best gardening channels on the web.
Plus Eric from Epic gardening!
Plus Huw Richards and Charles Dowding
Edibleacres too
I've learned a lot from these two. MIgardener and No-Till Growers are great too!

I love to watch watch the Millennial Garden and also James Prigioni's Garden. So much good information and a pleasure to watch.

@@TheMillennialGardener So I guess you didn't drive to Jersey 🤔😁🐕
Great to see you two together! Great you could visit the family and a fellow gardener!
Thanks for doing this visit with James. That was fantastic.
You're welcome! It was a good time.
Mr. Prigione you are inspiring.
Best collab ever
Thank you!!
An excuse is just a “well planned lie” love that. Great interview.
James, someday when you sell your house, that food forest will definitely be a unique feature.
I love both of your shows and you’ve taught me so much about gardening. I appreciate both of you.
Finally, THIS IS THE 1ST TIME JAMES PRIGIONI INTERVIEW
I am just getting back into a little gardening,, after about fifteen years, with only growing peppers and tomatoes in the past. Well, I'm back and starting again with tomatoes and peppers in containers. It's been very enjoyable and I always appreciate the tips for new gardeners.
My two favorite Gardners that taught me everything I know!!!
Thank you!
James is the first gardener on TH-cam that I watched. Just started watching your channel since we have similar gardening zones. I subscribed because your energy and passion for nature. Love you guys! You two are the best!
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Loved this. Thanks so much for your collaboration and efforts.
You guys are awesome!!!
Gardeners unite!
Thanks!
I'm really happy to see you two get together to film this nice interview.
Epic interview You are two of my favorite gardening channels!! I also love MIgardener up in Michigan! Thanks!
Joisy boys! I lived in Jersey for 17 years before I was able to escape! This was a really fun video, thanks both of you for taking the time to do this.
I love James....why?...because he's showing suburban and urban gardeners how to do it even with limited land.....
Exactly!
