Julie...My beloved husband, BFF, Partner and true love also took his last breath on St. Patrick's day...! I felt him raising up to heaven..! I haven't stopped crying and need to attend a bereavement group. He used to sing Loch Lomond.. he was Scottish and English.. we used Lock Lomond for his funeral viewing.. and Red is the Rose for the photos of our courtship...! I miss him so much..!

Lovely version. Saw the New Barleycorn twice in Cleveland and would love to see them again. They are wonderful performers.

Isn`t this the melody from "Culloden"? The ghost may be wrong....

What is it with people using the same melody for different songs?

Long before sound recording and even the printing press, songs were brought from place to place, and given new lyrics as they travelled through geography and time.
I believe Robert Burns used many existing melodies and changed their lyrics to his own new ones. Or how about Mozart's melody (allegedly) which is now known as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, The Alphabet Song, and many other variations.
