Thanks very much for this video, Stuart 😊. As new comers to Spain ( and your very informative channel) it gave us the insider info and confidence to try our local 100 Montaditos in Torrevieja. We were very pleasantly surprised by the great prices and loved the chance to try lots of different & more traditional tapas. Much appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
Think this series is a real winner Stu.. absolutely love seeing the day to day Spanish eating experience. As work means I can't join the live sessions as much as I'd like this alone is worth the membership... everything else is a bonus. Great stuff. Please keep this as a regular.
Nice one Stuart, enjoyed the video - thanks. I've been to 100 Montaditios in Valencia and have seen many branches about certainly in the more well known cities of Spain I've visited. I agree the food is basic, and value for money as it so cheap and quick . They reminded me almost like the Spanish equivalent of the British pub chain Wetherspoons which I actually quite enjoy occasionally due to their fairly decent and frequently updated, ale range- but they definitely have more focus on the food range and prices at Montaditos than the beer - with sadly Cruzcampo being the only offering. Cheers
My wife and I have gone a few times to the location in central Madrid when in Spain. It’s definitely a “tourist” spot but it’s actually decent and offers plenty of outdoor seating which is great when there’s nice weather. Yeah it’s mostly a drinking and snacks place which is fine. It’s not pricey at all. There’s one in Miami, FL USA and you’re going to pay a lot more and get an inflated tourist menu. One word of caution to those visiting the central Madrid location: there’s quite a “step” when you enter/exit the establishment. I walked out with an armful of food/drink and forgot about that step and went tripping outside for an embarrassing fall. I was ok and most bystanders ran over to help and see how I was. Very much appreciated!
100 Montaditos, whilst not great, is certainly better than any of the US fast food outlets so prevalent in Spain these days. Unfortunately, as you noted, the beer is always Cruzcampo which, strange to relate, is currently being marketed in the UK as a premium beer. Usually around a quid a pint dearer than anything else on offer.
Hi Stuart, We go to Montaditos in Santa Pola on a Wednesday when in Spain. Its a cheap meal out and as you say for what you pay it's great value. Keep up the good work.
I’ve been to several 100 montaditos in Madrid and my experience is that’s it’s alright for a quick and cheap meal. My favorite has been the alitas de pollo. Thank you Stu for an enjoyable video
Just back from Alicante and went to the 100 Montaditos by the beach several times. Really good montaditos, especially the crema de morcilla. The raciones of baby squid were good too. El Aguila is a nice change when you get tired of Cruzcampo. I enjoyed the rioja and tinto de verano too. Really hope they open in the UK one day.
Re; the name you give for the order, I have the same problem when I travel there. As for the food, you get what you pay for but it still represents better value for money than similar in UK
Hi Stuart I have been to Cien Montaditos in Torre Outlet Zaragoza a couple of times and I’ve always found it good value. If you’re out shopping it’s a good place to refuel and it doesn’t break the bank. Shame about the beer, for this reason I normally go for the coffee which isn’t bad. Maybe you could review VIPS in the future. Do you have them in Madrid? All the best.
Honestly while maybe not top tier by Spanish standards, it is a very good bargain by USA standards. You are lucky to get burger, fries and a soda and not a big one at that in USA.
Great video Stu, we were at 100 montaditos Torremolinos a couple of weeks ago, just like you say it's great to go now and again, we also had the patatas fritas with 4 dips which were nice 😀
I put 100 Montaditos in the "student food" category. Cheap beer on the plus side, but I'm not so keen on the food (especially the bread which is very industrial).
Your first mistake, going to the mall for tapas. Your second, tapas is what you eat late night in a bar with wine (or beer). It's a social affair. Tapas means "to cover" as in a small plate to cover your drink (to keep the flies out). The hardest part about visiting Spain for me was trying to figure out meal times. Breakfast for natives is 9-10 am, coffee and a roll, the mid-day meal is the main meal and is eaten around 2 pm followed by siesta esp in summer. Late night, 10 and later, they go out for drinks and tapas. I never did adjust to it.
I share your disdain for Cruz Campo beer. However, definitely not if you are actually in Seville. It’s the local beer in Seville but it obviously does not travel well. Estrella Galacia is the best Spanish beer that travels well, especially with the iced glass treatment Aussies Love.
My only experience with 100 Montaditos was in Burgos. I enjoyed the variety and the meal and service was good. Thinking that you get what you pay for, it's a good affordable fast food choice. The restaurants in the USA are all located in Miami.
The Montaditos in our local town, Lliria (Valencia) lasted just a few months. We were in there once and it was ok, like you, decent. I think it didn't last cos all our local bars are cheap.
Say around 3.25 - 3.50 euros for the beer. Thought is was a tubo at first, but realised it's larger. Ate in the one in Pl. de las Cortes, 3 Madrid and wasn't mpressed. It was OK, but very impersonal.........................2.00 euros for the beer, I'm surprised. All in all I agree, you can't complain about prices like that, but I think I'd rather eat in a more traditional bar.
Spain like a local is excellent! I think you assessed the meal well. Set expectations at the right level and then it’s great! I’m surprised you don’t use your own name, I think if you pronounce it as “estuart” the locals can handle it fine.😉
You're very brave, Stuart. Usually, I go by reviews, and if they are not good, I won't try. I guess that occasionally, your experience won't always be a good one. Thank you 😊
Stu, kinda cheap and instant, Are they what i call a ping Meal? IE, a microwave concept so everything comes pre packaged and just heated up in the microwave or oven, and sauce added. Like you say a cheap eat especially if you are in a hurry, so not a everyday lunch. 2€ for a pint is very reasonable but could you stomach a few of them, sometimes the bottled beer is better quality but more expensive. Enjoying these reviews👍
Great video, great review of 100 Montaditos. I´ve been many times to 100 Montaditos in great locations. I don´t like the 100 Montaditos food but for the price and the location of some of them, it´s a 10 out of 10. If 100 Montaditos would charge three times more I wouldn´t give them a 3 out of 10.
there are so many good beers in Spain Aguila,Mahou,Victoria Amstel etc BUT Cruzcampo sucks del barril, except for their special 1906 bottled which at 6% is on a par with Alhambra 1925 6%, Carillada would have been my fave as icoik it at home a lot, the orange spread is a big no no for me with two stents in my coronaries not good😂😂❤
Dan Murphy's,a popular liquor store,or bottleshop chain in Australia, has recently started selling Victoria Malaga,I have bought it at the member's special price of $17 for a six-pack,which is cheap for an imported beer in Australia.
Those tapas remind me of the free tapas you get at El Tigre in Madrid when you order a large beer. It's cheaper than this place and the quality is similar, i.e. not so good.
You go here with your son. You said in an earlier video it is his favorite snack place and you take him there. So you already know montaditos. So just this shop.
they are always full of Spanish people, esp at lunchtimes. Not always students or young either. They are typical fast food but a 100 times better than McDs.
We went to 100 Montaditos years ago when we first moved here, never been back! Maybe I have a different palete but Spanish food really doesn't do much for me.
Commens on yelp or whatever aren't reviews. They are opinions, They should be given no weight. And, did we forget?? This is fast food!! The bar is set so low. Go to Taco Bell and stack it up against real Mexican food.
Acknowledging your very good Spanish accent here, but why in the world would you want to eat in a shopping mall? Even if the food and service were 4 or 5 stars in a "normal" environment (they never are) you'd have to at least deduct one or two for that. You cannot really feel sorry for people having a bad experience when they dine in what is basically a warehouse with loads of pedestrian traffic. Seriously.
Enjoying your Spain like a local series
Hi, thanks
Second that.
Thanks very much for this video, Stuart 😊. As new comers to Spain ( and your very informative channel) it gave us the insider info and confidence to try our local 100 Montaditos in Torrevieja. Said so on your other video, "Spain Like a Local" is a birlliant idea/series!!!
The worst thing a beer can be is Cruzcampo, besides other dirty waters like Budweiser, I agree
Think this series is a real winner Stu.. absolutely love seeing the day to day Spanish eating experience. As work means I can't join the live sessions as much as I'd like this alone is worth the membership... everything else is a bonus. Great stuff. Please keep this as a regular.
Thanks for the heads-up Stuart! 🙏
Cruzcampo in Sevilla is a religion!!

If you have low expectations, generally, you get more nice surprises.
Enjoying this new twist to your channel. It's useful for those travelers who want an accurate view of real daily life in Spain.
Hi Stuart, We go to Montaditos in Santa Pola on a Wednesday when in Spain. Its a cheap meal out and as you say for what you pay it's great value. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed the eating experience, thank you.
Hi Stu. All that food plus a pint of Cruzcampo for under €10, absolute bargain. To be honest, I was sold at the beer alone 👍. Cheers, John.
I can’t go wrong with sobrasada. I say “I” because tastes and colors and I love sobrasada.
Also for me, a 100 montaditos beats a MacDonald’s anyday.
I’ve been to several 100 montaditos in Madrid and my experience is that’s it’s alright for a quick and cheap meal. My favorite has been the alitas de pollo. Thank you Stu for an enjoyable video

The beer looks green in the thumbnail because it's an indication of how you'll feel afterwards. 😂🤣
The cold cheap beer is the secret at this place. Can’t complain easy place to take kids fast and reliable food.

Is that the one in the Carrefour mall in El Pinillo? We are moving to Torremolinos next month and that area (El Pinillo) is where we will be 🙂
@@MikeS29 No we were at the one in av federico garcia lorca,a ten minute or so walk from the centre.
I put 100 Montaditos in the "student food" category. Cheap beer on the plus side, but I'm not so keen on the food (especially the bread which is very industrial).
I find Stu works OK in Spain. Easy to spell out if necessary
A pint of beer locally in the UK is £4.50!!
Great series Stuart 👌🏽
no, tubos are tall thin about 250cc, that is a tanque or pinta (?spelling)😊

Great video Stuart! I will try 100 Montaditos…I usually eat like a local @ Lizarran Pinchos.
Oh! These napkins are terrible 😞
Hi, I will try Lizarran

€2 for a pint, I'd nearly go there just to go drinking
love these videos Stuart. love tapas
Beats American fast food chain food. Great price and fills you up as well.
Thanks for including your interaction with the cashier.
Just because the price is cheap, should I eat industrial byproducts and litter with food-label on it?
Soy Español voy a hacer videos como " guiri" 😂

? Cheap chain takeaway and it wasn't warm and cozy? Outrage I say!!!!!
The beer was 540 ml,which is almost an imperial pint, which is 568 ml.

Sorry Stu but no chain discount places for me especially in Spain. Too many small places that are excellent.
there are so many good beers in Spain Aguila,Mahou,Victoria Amstel etc BUT Cruzcampo sucks del barril, except for their special 1906 bottled which at 6% is on a par with Alhambra 1925 6%, Carillada would have been my fave as icoik it at home a lot, the orange spread is a big no no for me with two stents in my coronaries not good😂😂❤

That's a pretty good place. Only went once, as I had family visiting and I couldn't get them to eat on "Spanish" time.
Looks good to me stu.
Those tapas remind me of the free tapas you get at El Tigre in Madrid when you order a large beer.
It's cheaper than this place and the quality is similar, i.e. not so good.
Oh Boy much rather go for tapas. Load it up on the carbs. Nice to be served beer at a food court
Been to Mondaditos in Miami Beach
I think I have been to that mall.
Maybe The Sausage was just Cold .. lol
That Meal would Probably be $40 in the States .. Your Beer in the US would have been more than the Whole meal
Meh. Try Tempranillo on Cava Baja in Madrid. Great joint.
You go here with your son. You said in an earlier video it is his favorite snack place and you take him there. So you already know montaditos. So just this shop.
No salad in there?? Looks good and clean.
100 Monteditos do a small salad range on the menu. More pricey than the rolls but still very good value. We have been to a few of these
A pint in Melbourne will cost you more than that.
And given a choice between Cruzcampo, and, say,a run-of -the-mill Aussie beer like Great Northern,I'll opt for Cruzcampo any day.
"If I pay more, can I have water instead of Cruzcampo?"
I love Cruz Campo, better than Fosters.
Cruzcampo has to be served ice-cold to be enjoyed, otherwise,it doesn't make for good drinking.
Cruz Campo= Chem Lager resaca segura
Hi great deal if your not to hungry 😂😂
Great vid! But ugh- the horrible quality of the bread....
Cruzcampo is not a beer dude!.....it's just cold pee!!!
Spanish gastronomy for the English Palate...
@petercricket Australian.
💯. eat at a good local cafe
they are always full of Spanish people, esp at lunchtimes. Not always students or young either. They are typical fast food but a 100 times better than McDs.
I didn’t rate the 1 in la alberca in Murcia
100 montaditos tapas? No. Su propio nombre lo dice, son montaditos.
We went to 100 Montaditos years ago when we first moved here, never been back! Maybe I have a different palete but Spanish food really doesn't do much for me.
Too much bread for me!
I hate tapas. Its li ke old stuff you found in the back of the cupboard and fridge during lockdown. An old tin of sardines, tin of plum tomatos. ...
The beer and food was not good in my opinion.
Commens on yelp or whatever aren't reviews. They are opinions, They should be given no weight. And, did we forget?? This is fast food!! The bar is set so low. Go to Taco Bell and stack it up against real Mexican food.
Looks ok, but for a diabetic too much high GI carbs.

Not really tapas, are they? Have you never experienced real tapas? Never indulged in a tapas bar crawl?
8 out of 10 Stuarts you must be mad, OK it was not too expensive but too much white bread not good for your bowels! And crap beer 😮
Quite unhealthy. Let's try an interesting vegan spot!
Vegan food isn't food.
Bread looks cheap and nasty
"David" .
