This made me remember the time I took a "handstands for beginners" class and it was basically a 20min warm up and then the trainer was like "ok and now everybody get into a handstand" and I just sat there like 👁👄👁 Dude if I knew how to do it I wouldn't be here lmao
Ohh no, this is my fear. Near me there's this like Circus class where you can learn handstand, cartwheels all kinds of Fun stuff always wanted to do It
I didn’t watch the review yet but I’m super excited bc I love summer and I’ve been doing lots of calensthenics lately, my current goals is a hand stand and a pull up. I just turned 41 and all I want to do is be able to throw my body around. For decades I ran and various skating, so all lower body. For the past two years, it’s been all about upper body, for the first time ever. I’m so curious if you were able to handstand today, lemme watch Edit:: so freakin proud!! I’m Smiling so hard watching you get a handstand!!
from a gymnastics perspective, the reason you look between in your hands in a handstand is because you want to "know where the floor is". in gymnastics, handstands are typically part of another movement (like a round off or back handspring) - and you want to be looking through your hands for the floor. not sure if there is any calesthenics -specific reason for it (in fact, i recall from my crossfit days that most of the time you DIDN'T look at the floor because handstands were part of things like handstand push ups, and so you didn't want to smash your face into the floor...) or if it's just a holdover from gymnastics.
My main problem is the fear of falling. I'm way too scared to kick up completely in case I fall on my A S S. I have been following summerfitness for a month now, I did get my crow pose with her so that's awesome.
Too rad, J.! Hampton, Summer and Larie are 3 of my favorite youtubers -- it's totally bananas that you selected them right in a row... I'm loving this new monthly staple -- thank you for gracing us with holiday goodness all year long. Rock on!
Peloton has a prep to handstand program from a yoga instructor and one of the first days was on the mobility and it was so interesting how much it felt like a split mobility program in the hips and hamstrings. I was surprised by it at first, but it makes sense!
I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I’m one of the people who recommended her to the bowl 🤗 I’m curious if you’re considering to keep going on your handstand journey? And also, would you consider trying any type of classes? I’m specifically thinking about aerial silks and climbing (bouldering)🤭 TYSM for all the content that you already share with us! 🙌
You should be proud of yourself. Even as a kid I could never do a handstand or cartwheel. Now at 58 I’ve suddenly developed arthritis in my right thumb, so plank or even cat/cow has all become a problem.
I love headstands and handstands! I usually do it with my yoga. I still need to do the handstands with a wall. I'm 58 and now 9 days post hip replacement so it will be a while before I get to do them but I can't wait!!
Hi Justina, I love watching your reviews. Good structure, well explained and interesting. I know you already have a bowl full of suggestions, but since you have recently done your own kettlebell programme, and there are not many kettlebell programs on TH-cam done by women, would you consider reviewing Workut with Roxane.
I love this video! Been wanting to get into trying handstands 😅 would love to see a "training like a powerlifter" from you! been curious and interested about that style of training lately 🥰
You did it! That’s so exciting. Makes me want to try it now. Not sure if a headphone thing or editing, but all your music and sound effects only play on my left speaker and your voice only comes through the right. Thought I would share in case it’s editing and not my headphones failing 😛
yep I addressed it a few times in the last few videos in other comments! My main mic broke and had to reallocate some finances to purchase a new one. So sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi, Justina! Big fan of your vids, and I'm so excited to watch this. I just wanted to let you know that for some reason the audio in some of your latest videos doesn't work w headphones (at least with my wired headphones). The audio's only one sided (I don't know the English word for it, I hope you can understand?) My headphones work fine with other TH-cam videos, I've checked, and even with some of your videos, like the Lil Jon meditation video, but this and Everyone is broken. videos have only one-sided audio :(
Yep I’ve addressed this in multiple comment sections. My main mic died and I’ve been using my backup mic. I purchased a new one, they’re just expensive so I had to wait until I had some money set aside. Sorry for the frustration!
Oh, I hadn't seen those comments, I must have not spent as much time in the comment section as I usually do.. I appreciate you taking the time to answer! :) This video was great, would love to see more skill based reviews and videos in the future as well, as handstands and cartwheels (and similar gymnastic skills) are something I would love to be able to incorporate into my training occasionally to keep it fun
Great video and review. I have been contemplating getting back into a handstand practice and this might be the catalyst for me. 😊 I also can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Larie (pronounced “Laurie”) Midkiff.
I used to be very interesting on the idea of a handstand but I'm a coward lol. Actually I don't have the core strength needed. Very impress with you nailing it!
Great job on the handstand! I don’t like going upside down so I was impressed by your fearlessness and upper body strength :) Weird question, but did you notice any pressure or itchiness behind your eyes while you were upside down? Also, I wanted to say that I really enjoy all of the mobility work that you have been incorporating lately and would love to see more. Your latest mobility and stability programs are both excellent!
Idk if im the only one having this, but your last two videos Justina have audio in my right ear only. And it isnt my earbuds or other youtube videos (other videos and Spotify are fine and even audio) but if its something I could do differently let me know! It was this video and last one 😓
Your handstand was pretty amazing, Justina! I knew from the get go you were totally going to succeed, 'cause you have great strength, coordination and mobility! You' re like Wonder Woman or something! Now, can I please share a silly but moderately exciting story involving handstands? PLEASE LET ME! And gather around everybody! Grab your popcorns! When I was 11, I started training handstands all by myself without any known reason, because handstands are not really a thing in rhythmic gymnastics, which was my sport of choice at the time. I was actually training diligently and with some semblance of structure, and my handstands were good, very solid...or so I felt. So, one day I decided it was finally time to show my WHOLE family my hard-earned handstand. I got in position, and I swear I did the very same thing I was doing for weeks at that point, but instead of a handstand my body randomly threw off a frickin' front handspring that came FROM NOWHERE. I managed to miraculously land on my feet, but I was so shaken by the experience that I removed the handstand from my repertoire of party tricks. My family was definitely very impressed, though! 😎

Great review! Appreciate all the prep of whats needed to achieve handstand, great job J!!
Thanks so much!

Congrats!! You aced that and you should probs do a handstand vid by the looks of things!
My main problem is the fear of falling. I'm way too scared to kick up completely in case I fall on my A S S. I have been following summerfitness for a month now, I did get my crow pose with her so that's awesome.
The kick at the end - love it!! Thanks for reviewing this video!
Haha thanks!
Omg, I am going to try this!
enjoy!

Honestly I don’t see myself pursuing it right now because I have other movement goals, but maybe in the future!

Thanks Michelle!
Wooohooo Justina!!! I was a gymnastics kid but never mastered all the needed skills so I focused on dance...good job!🎉
Thank you!
I was congratulating you on your handstands, go Justina!! 🎉🥳
Thank you!

Not surprised that you were able to do it considering your dance background. Well done!
Thank you!

Oooh I made a bodybuilder video but not powerlifting! good idea :)
My two favorite fitness ladies!! So delightfully unexpected and I loved this video 🥰
So glad you enjoyed :)

I have this issue as well with wireless/Bluetooth headphones sadly I can’t handle this and it often means I miss out on the video completely.

This seemed like a great video with a specific purpose :)
Thank you!
Great review, good job on your handstand. =)
Summerfunfitness looks like a knowledgeable person, I do follow her some time, happy she pass your test!
Thanks!
Oh I can’t wait for the Larie review! She knows her stuff.
I'm excited to try!
Same! I just found her channel a few months ago and I really like her style of teaching.
I used to be very interesting on the idea of a handstand but I'm a coward lol. Actually I don't have the core strength needed. Very impress with you nailing it!

You can fix it in post. Just put the mono signal on both channels.
