I once witnessed a black teen get into an argument with an Asian immigrant who was working a deli. The teen was asking for a receipt, but was not pronouncing the first syllable, the immigrant thought the teen was asking for a seat. He was obviously confused but trying to service his customer and teen was becoming visibly angry that the man wasn’t providing a receipt. I had to clarify for the worker what the guy was asking for to keep things moving.
Language matters more than one would think, especially when interacting across cultures.

I love Thomas Sowell. I have learned more from him than I ever learned in school. He helps make people think, not just teaching what to think. He gets the mind turning and gets you to look deeper into things.

That mic drop at the end gets me every time. I’m a 9th grade drop out, left school at 15. I’m 42 now, I have been out of work for around 6 months in the last 27 years, never went back to school, never got my ged, just continued to work hard and learn more skills and by doing so I have had a wonder life, not easy, but I am definitely grateful.

Thomas Sowell is one of the most respected and admired American scholars (of any color) of the century.
    His point is 100% valid.
Since all human beings are equal if certain things had a negative impact on Whites it’s only logical to assume they’d have the same negative impacts on Blacks.
He didn’t even slam ALL rap but just gangster rap which truly is harmful.
Some rap is just fine like gospel rap and non violent rap but music can indeed affect people positively and negatively.

Isn't it interesting how we make fun of Southerners for their drawl where we refer to them as hicks but blacks have retained this drawl and it has spread all around the continent but it is something to be proud of as if it is part of their African heritage? When I hear a black using this dialect I reflexively think that he has lower intellect just as a Brit would when hearing a Cockney accent.

The problem with the gangster rap influencing the culture so much, is because it's seen as one of the only ways to make it out of the ghetto, and to be a gangster rapper, or at least the way it used to be seen, is that you had to have street cred and be gangster yourself, so many of the youth began trying to do what they had to do to "make it" as a rapper, unless they were good at sports, those are seen in the black community as the only ways to "make it" otherwise it probably wouldn't have had such an impact on the black community, IMHO

What you're doing in terms of personal exploration and discovery is what our schools SHOULD be doing. Teaching individuals how to explore and discover can only benefit society. Conversely, NOT teaching people to explore and discover can only be bad for society....that assumes the society believes TRUTH is important.

The part at 4:17 is (I think) Noam Chomsky, a famous American intellectual, but the segment we see here is not here because Thomas Sowell would agree with him; rather he's there as an example of what Dr. Sowell is criticizing- namely the normalizing of, or even the celebration of, lower standards for black people, in this case lower standards of spoken English.

The comment I disagree with from the one guy is that if the blacks owned all the corporations and spoke the way some talk, that is how whites would speak. When dealing with other nations, cultures, and languages words have to be precise for translation and cultural differences hence why I think it would never happen and why that subculture is such a deferment. Another great video by the way.

Definitely words, images and your surroundings affect you.
Just go sit in a smelly room of cranky -on edge people for a few hours.. And go sit with light-hearted genuinely friendly people in a cozy environment.
And do one of these every day for some time, which ever one you’re not accustom to, and see how it changes your thoughts and emotions.
An easier way is play positive music for a couple hours etc. anyways.. You already got the point 😅
I’m just saying EVEN IF you have the ability to discern the “message” and not act upon it yourself. Continuous influence will have an effect on pretty much anyone in one way or another. I shut off mainstream media, alternative media and certain people for stretches of time to protect my wellbeing regularly.
But most important, is the internal dialog we have with ourself. Let that be constructive and loving like a wise elder and playful and open like the mind of a child. 🤗

Here's a question that some people will get upset at. I can agree that the culture is the problem, not skin color. We've watched Ben Shapiro go at people for this in his viral clips. It's not about race, it's about culture..but who owns the culture? Do blacks own the culture they're so deep into? Do black people own the record labels? How about Nike? It appears as though black people are stuck in a culture and it is holding them back, but they don't own the culture, so it's not even really their culture. It's a culture they participate in, owned by others. Black culture (like a lot of culture now) is not actually culture. It's a siphon of energy. The owners of the culture, siphon the energy of black people (and LGBT and white etc.) In the form of a dollar and move that energy from us to them.

I take issue with what one man said concerning blacks not speaking standard American English. He suggested that if blacks had all the power, we would all be speaking sub-standard English. He may have a point in terms of speaking slang in the streets, but he is wrong to think that the formal education of English would suffer.
Kenya has two national languages: English and Swahili. Although I have never attended school in Kenya, I am confident that proper English and proper Swahili is being taught. I live in China and i can assure you, proper Chinese and proper English are taught.
The sub-standard English that was being discussed in this video was being justified as a valid language. It is not. It may be valid slang, or street language, but to teach it in schools as an alternative to standard American English, especially as a valid language to a specific group of people...in this case black.... is a perfect example of the racism of low expectations. It was being taught because white liberals thought blacks were incapable of learning standard English.
That is a slap in the face to any American. Any color. Any group. Any sex. Certain aspects of a culture must transcend minor differences like skin color, national origin, sex, etc. One of those aspects is language. To even consider teaching different 'versions' of English to different groups, is to argue against a common culture. Without a common language we are destined to fail.
What that gentleman in the video said was very racist. By suggesting if blacks had all the power, we would be teaching sub-standard English in school, is an admission by him that blacks CAN'T speak proper English.

Yes, during that time it was a financial commerce thing not a racial thing. There is no time in Human life there was NO slavery. We cannot 100% know if the majority was FORCED. How many vulnerable people even today, go to a different country to work because they cant find work at home? I am Greek, Turkey invaded Greece for 400 years (brutal enslavement). Greeks celebrate independance day March 25th every year! Humans are born innocent, Hate is learned. Its awful school teaches 10% of what history is. Its liek they choose stories to divide us. Did you know the same people who own the banking system run schooling systems? . Its awful. Nobody is guiltless of treating others equally in history. In modern times (today) the wealthy have found a more cleaver way to financially enslave us...... with Central Banking sytems. We are forever in debt. The term, "the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer", is a term for a reason.

This subculture still holds white folks back to this very day. there are still white rednecks. along with black Americans, both are still held back by this subculture. however, affecting the black population more because the black population is still very small compared to the white population. So if 5% of the white population is affected and 5% of the black population the black will be hit much harder because of numbers alone. not sure how to say what I mean here. Also, the black population has taken this subculture to the extreme creating chaos in the Ghettos. I know I was raised in the projects of the deep south. What is sad about all of this, is the fact that black Americans are honestly holding themselves back as a population, however, they are only willing to blame others and play the victim. This was not the case in the 90s when I lived in the PJ's. I never hear a black American cry about racism or victimhood ever at that time. This is something very new, at least in the numbers or majority falling for this brainwashing, It saddens me as I used to look up to the mental strength and resilience of the Black American, but now I'm turned off by what I see and hear. All this, White this, white that, racism, Reparations, give me, give me, it is so weak and sad to see. I come from a physically strong family the men are built and strong, but I learned long ago physical strength means nothing compared to mental strength, it is always easy to do the wrong thing, hurt someone, commit crimes, that is easy, being a good man a good strong American now that takes real strength.
