On the topic of scary zip up leotards, I used to have a zip up top that had hooks and eyes (like the bra kind) on the inside of the zipper so it would stay fully zipped. It even had a second hook and eye set about a quarter of the way down so you could keep it partially unzipped and it would stay in place there. I’m surprised dancewear hasn’t adopted this already, but it would be super easy to sew in your own set if you wanted!
fun fact: in brazilian Portuguese, we call the flared leggings “calça bailarina (ballerina pants)”! I don’t know if it’s a regional thing, but I’ve always known them as ballerinas 😂
I know a few more which I think haven´t been mentioned before (correct me if I am wrong): Short hair for female dancers but with fake hair for performances. Monochrome Outfits for class, like all black or all white. See through skirts (like cloud&viktory´s tull wrap skirt). Humorous outfits with dinos, cats or llamas. May it be a shirt, pants, skirt or the leotard. Ombré clothing in general. I love how it lengthens my lines but that point is up for debate. This one is more about comfort rather than fashion (like the ribbons), leotards with extra inside mesh for bigger chested girls. Leotards that look like you are wearing a choker. Cutting off tights above the knee. Not trashbag pants but fleece trousers for warm up. I would love to hear your opinions on these topics, if you are willing to do a third round. Anyway! Love your videos and can´t wait to see your cake decorating skills again. ♥
The basketball shorts totally remind me of Maya Schonbrun from MBA. As for the zip leos, love them but I also have the same (rational) insecurity. I will say, i do have some back-zip leos and they're a pain bc you gotta reach back there every time to put it on and take it off.
Omg even though she's a professional Ms Irene got sick of them during summer intensive and made her change into a wrap skirt one day. She wears them just SO long for some reason.
I’d love to wear low back leotards or cut out ones but big boobs means that’s just not an option. Same with camisoles. So no to those (reluctantly) and also no to scarves and scrunchies. Yes to literally everything else. Love a flared legging and I have high-low skirts in every length, my personal favourite is rehearsal length. I’m indifferent to shiny ribbons vs matte ribbons, I’m typically wearing legwarmers or flared leggings anyway.
I have the zipper fear too! I once saw a video on Instagram where the zipper came undone, not from it moving down, but the teeth just separated from each other
Once a ballet group in my academy was wearing a zip up leotard for a dance, and 2 minutes before they went to stage one of the girls' zip EXPLODED and they had to sew it back in the backstage darkness 😭😭😭😭
@@balletreign would trash bag pants work for running warm ups? I dont dance but I run track and after hearing you talk about how amazing they are I feel like ill take any excuse lol
I'm so un-trendy. LOL. I'm a satin ribbon girl who tried stretch ribbon once and it felt like there was no ribbon. Never again. I actually get my ribbon at Joann and it's nearly invisible against the tights, and way cheaper. I also don't like zippers, but because I can feel them, and yes, more often than not, a zipper will wear out faster than other aspects of a garment. (how many jackets have I had to use a paperclip because the pull fell off?) I am so backwards with the layering thing though. If I have too much on my torso, I'll feel overheated and icky after just plies, but my feet are not warmed up and my hands are still cold.
Yay! More Ballet class Class or Pass! *claps for joy* it was so cool and fun to see more kinds of Ballet wear. Especially the pointe shoe fashions and a few more unconventional things like basketball shorts and scarves. You know I was inspired by your last class or pass video to buy a pair of trash bag pants for my ballet barre class and I love em! I kinda feel official when I wear them to class hehe Looking forward to Ballet Reign’s 2nd birthday!
I’m in a ballet company at my school (it’s an arts school so there’s dance, theater, art, music, and so on so it’s just not just a dance school, the main school aka the original goes from 6-12 but they added an elementary last year) and for our competition costumes we always have to have scrunchies in our hair, like it’s a part of our costumes
As a dude who does tap for fun, basketball shorts or like a decent pair of sweatpants are what I live in. I am NOT comfortable in anything super form-fitting. Even if shorts are even a hair too short, I just feel naked and I hate it. It's not like an "oh, bruh, I'm too manly for that!" No, it's like that nightmare where you show up to school in your underwear anxiety sort of thing. I somewhat thought I might grow out of that at some point, but nah... I don't do form-fitting. ...but in my defense, Fred Astaire did most of his iconic work in suits and tuxes, so there! lol
A long vest that covers the neck and hips as well as the spine very beneficial. fuzzy socks yes. skirts yes, just not drastic hem variance. No over sized clothes for class. independent warm up and practice ok - oversized pants do you want to trip and fall? Leo's - camisole, low back, cut outs, skirted, trendy ok if you like and appropriate for your body and need. shorts, trendy but if made correctly can help with keeping joints warms. flared leggings get in the way of petite foot work and turns. scarf/ shall for the neck shoulders - a lot of this stuff is actually good for dancers with experience/ age/ injuries/ arthritis. this is a problem with bare Leo's. zip Leo yes, wish more were available. bb shorts? what about sowing the human art form? personally tired of oversized stuff. shinny ribbons are pretty.
I only wet to the Antwerp ballet school for an event our school was selected to do I was a mouse lol I went early to see the ballerinas doing what I dreamt off. But when I went to private classes one studio said shiny ribbons and pink for the youngsters and black for the oldest. When I moved went to an other ballet studio run by an ballet dancer Misses Champagne in Mechelen it was mat ribbons and leotards was free but she loved it when we dressed in black or darker colors. She also didn’t like scrunchies in our hair so it was a bun in place with bobby pins. I had leg warmers and sport pullover to warm up. She was strict that some parents told her she didn’t give class at the ballet school in Antwerp or any other high place and their daughter would go to there if they passed the tests. She told them straight forward how they wouldn’t make it if they didn’t feel like putting down the effort to go to the full extent of follow the rules put up even as a hobby. And pointing out the feet that where not put correctly or back to stiff in some exercise to sloppy in other not saying thanks for the class nor respecting the more experienced ballerina’s. Funny enough some picked up, others came back being motivated more even when mothers complained more.
Yes! Back in the 70s in dark-ages college hair is pulled back, no jewelry, pink tights and shoes only, dark leo preferred. No vest/scarves/flares/big shirts/shorts etc etc, or anything that might disguise your body lines. Times have changed!
For me I think I've mastered the stretchy ribbons and the no knot thing, because I also used to get my heel out of my pointe shoe, but for that I do an X with two elastics high on the feet, and put some rosin on so it doesn't slip Also my teachers are reaaally strict about the ribbons being undone on stage so that makes me feel really secure about it
I can't live without my stretch ribbon 😂 I hate knots and can't untie them with my nails, and I want the ability for the quick on/off 🤌🏼 but totally fair to want more support/tension! def a trade off haha
My uniform is one with a skirt attached. I don't like it because you can see as much. And most times my teacher make us tuck it into my leotard anyways so.
I'm elastic ribbons all the way, it just feels too rigid with satin ribbons. I had normal ribbons on my first pointe shoes and I'd always be fidgeting with them.
I actually love you guys soooooooooo much you are one of my biggest inspirations and every time u post I have to watch immediately (literally have watched every one of ur videos) AHHHHHH I LOVE U GUYS SMM❤️❤️🫶🫶🫶
For me, I adore the way flared leggings look, but the issue is that the feeling of them moving around your ankle is SO DISTRACTING, so I can't wear them I've also when trying to dance in them before had my foot catch in the flare, while I was trying to do a developer
I think I disagree on almost every point! Baggy oversized stuff is on trend but I like form fitted stuff for class and seeing lines. Yoga/bike shorts are my favourite. Built in skirts are less versatile than separates, but help ensure you get a good colour match and that the skirt stays in place without dangly ties in the way. I do wish they were more readily available. Most importantly, I will never ever go back to satin from looped stretch ribbons. Lastly, Jordan is worried about a zipper coming undone, but has clearly never had a cami strap break during class. I have! (I still wear camis though). Sorry to unlock a new fear to everyone in the comments.
the thing about the elastic ribbons for me is I always ended up having to get them bc i need vamp elastics and crossed elastics and every extra ounce of support (i have feet that are archy in the fucked up way. it's why i'm no longer dancing) and the elastic ribbons genuinely added just a tiny bit more stability. but also they're so weird to look at and annoying to sew
My opinion: Vests pass, socks wear to class, high low skirts wear to class, over sides T wear to class, leotards with cut outs pass, leotards with low backs wear to class, jass shorts pass, Cami leotards wear to class, sweatshirts wear to class, skirted leotards pass, elastic ribbons wear to class, flared leggings wear to class, scarves shawls pass, zip up leotards pass, basket ball shorts wear to class, scrunchies wear to class, athletic jackets pass, shiny ribbons pass.

Basketball shorts... I feel the complete opposite about them - I don't think they are flattering at all, and they cut your leg line right in the middle (especially because they're baggy and right above the knee)

Came back to ballet as an adult, doing beginner classes to learn everything fresh. I’ve loved not having a strict dress code 😂

I need a closet tour from the both of you, i love the outfits and hairstyles try guys wear

Just came home from nutcracker practice to see this💗💗I am so excited I can't wait to see it I loved the last one💗Sending lots of love from Sweden💗💗

The axolotl lmaoooo 😂
high low skirts are stunning
fuzzy socks are great if you don’t have those booties that go over your dance shoes!!
I need a video of all the outfits *you guys* wear to class!!
Pro tip: you can totally DIY your own GM ribbons at home if those are your jam.

Pretty much everyone I dance with uses fully elastic ribbons but I tried them once and they made my shoes twist. I use TLC ribbons now too!
TLC ribbons for life 😆😆
10:58 lol my schools dress ode doesn’t allow them cause sometimes the teachers don’t allow skirts
It can be easier to see placement that way ✌🏻✌🏻
I’d wear scrunchies, shiny ribbons, wrap skirts, and jackets.

I was a ballerina, now I’m a bellydancer ,
With a diamond in your navel?
low back leotards give a different shape and vibe
camisole leotards are just pretty
Absolutely a pass on the elastic ribbons, they messed up my Achilles so bad
I gasped when I heard the music in the background and immediately recognized it as my varation 😅 (crystal fountain fairy)
I love it
Ok, "trash bags" was mentioned a couple times, but you don't mean literally, I assume!

Real “jazz pants” not yoga pants work great
Yeessss! Jazz pants are great! Yoga pants are an abomination
shiny ribbons no thank you
Are legwarmers no longer a thing?
I'd like to see more male fashion choices, although I suspect that bare chests are a pass : (
do velvet leotards
I can't stand tights outside the leotard. When did this trend start and why?

How about hair net? I feel like professionals dont wear hair net.
girls , i need help. As a budget ballerina(poor), is it acceptable to sell feet pics to buy Gaynor shoes? Asking for a friend
Basketball shorts... I feel the complete opposite about them - I don't think they are flattering at all, and they cut your leg line right in the middle (especially because they're baggy and right above the knee)
Oversize t shirt? No! Silly.
