Sean carried on with a spirit of vision and purpose post BYU football, as evidenced not only by his book but a life well-lived. As a young bishop in Dallas, I reached out to him to speak to our ward and youth, and his influence on them was extraordinary.
Sean went on to write the Book, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" (and other books)and it was used in many schools. I'm sure his attitude about his experiences with disappointment and loss contributed to it. I did not say it was his bad experiences, but it was his attitude that got him past his disappointments and on to great accomplishments. I taught in some middle schools where it was used.
Sean Covey went on to experience much greater trials in life than anything found on a football field. But perhaps this story and his response to it helped prepare him in a small way for what was to come.

I needed this today. So applicable to many life disappointments.
Attitude is so important. God bless him.
LaVell, you were an inspiration for many of us.
