My entire childhood and schooling (Dr.Graham's Homes) was spent in Kalimpong. One more thing.... You missed Dr.Graham's Homes. Kalimpong is incomplete without a visit to DGH.
At 11 minutes (Buddha Park) there is a statue of Guru Padma Sambhava not Buddha. He is a Buddhist tantric master from Swat Valley, Pakistan who spread Buddhism to Tibet, Sikkim, Bhutan in 8AD which is now commonly known as Tibetan Buddhism or Vajrayana. He along with Shantharaksita abbot of Nalanda university/monastery helped to build the first monastery in Tibet called SAMYE which is functioning now. 7 Tibetans boys were ordained as the first monks/Bhikshu in Tibet at Samye monastery.
Between February and march and between early October to late November is an ideal time to visit.. Clear blue skies, chilly mornings & evenings, dry winds , festival vibes (autumn)..you'll love it then
