I live in Reno its nice to see others posting of my beautiful home state
I lived in fernley 1997-2005 good child hood memories thanks.
Drove this route when I worked at the Power Plant in Patrick. I lie in Rockland County NY and drove I-80 from the GW Bridge to Reno every spring and returned via US 50- i-70 - I-76 back to I-80 at Julesburg. Just a note: The town of Wadsworth is actually on the Pyramid Lake Paiute reservation.
I'm a Spanish guy from Madrid. I traveled almost all Spain, and I love to put the music and watching shooting landscapes and peoples kilometers. but I would like one day, recorrerme around the United States, its landscapes, trucks, their trains, their cars, cities ect ect. ;-) greetings

Can you do a nocturnal video going west on I-80 approaching Reno and Sparks? Looking down on all those city lights is totally awesome! That is one of the things I remember from our family cross-country trip back in 1978.

I lived in Fernley and drove to Sparks everyday, I am NC. at the moment, but man do I ever miss the West Coast. Can not wait to come back to The Reno Sparks area.

Fantastic scenery... I don't think of it as desolate at all. Florida is mostly flat (a few low hills) with visibility only a mile or so because of trees (a handful of vistas in a few areas) so seeing open land and vistas like that is a real treat! To me, desolate would be like the area around the Great Salt Lake.

Thanks dude! The route was recently repaved within the past 2 years in Reno/Sparks as well as through the city of Fernley. By the looks of it, the stretch between Sparks and Fernley looks as though it was paved within the last decade.

Yes about 7,500 vehicles commute to Fallon on a daily basis via US-50 ALT.

Nice video! The I-80 drive is one I intend to take: I'm more familiar with I-40 and I-10 into AZ, and I-15, but never did a trans-Sierra run into the Great Basin and SLC. One thing I plan to remedy..

I'm a motorcyclist. I love how you label exits and so forth. I wonder if you would consider labeling gas stops as well, ideally with mileage from start point.
Keep wanting to make the trip out west from Cincinnati, because t am concerned of running out of gas!

Nice video and I-80 from exit 260-310 in Pennsylvania which goes through some mountains or I-80 in New Jersey from exit 1-68 which starts from Delaware water gap then becomes urban from exit 26-68. Both segments of I-80 in the northeast is very different from the portion of I-80 you filmed.

Nice ride, interesting scenery! Was this route recently repaved? Both the concrete and asphalt appear to be in very good condition.
It various throughout the video... its mostly sped up 3.5x normal speed.
exit 48 is where I get off to go to highland drive
1/4 of its paved and 1/2 of it is complete as of today..
If I could remember doesnt around 7-10,000 of the vehicles on I-80 go onto US-50 towards Fallon AFB?

At about the 2:10 mark in the video is what appears to be an old exit (it's much more easily visible from Google Maps, coordinates 39.513766, -119.677805). Anyone have any idea what it was?
It looks like it was a rest area, it's interesting though since it looks like it was Eastbound Exit and Entry only, there appears to be no access to it from the Westbound lanes.

2:48 Do you enjoy fast driving? Then come to Germany. 70% of all Autobahn stretches are without any speed limit. There the roads are in an excellent shape, no police eill stop you when you are faster than 200 MpH, parking lots with fresh rooms every 5 to 10 miles, travelling plazas enough, truck stops at the very most exits. But if there are speed limits then expect radar traps, especially in construction zones.

Speaking of the Cyclists, there is actually a ride that happens every year which is call the OATBRAN ride which stands for One awesome tour Bike ride across Nevada, and it actually starts in Lake Tahoe and ends about a week later ant the Nevada/Utah border, and just to give you a glimpse of the ride, and this is just the first day of it, From Tahoe, they go up and over Spooner (Highway 50 west), down spooner and through carson via highway 395, then where Highway 50 east meets, they turn right, and they ride all te way from cars to Fallon to complete day 1 of I do believe 7.......so yes you can ride on Interstate 80.......

Riding a bike on an Interstate highway sounds like a REALLY bad idea... but some places in Nevada it IS legal. www.nevadadot.com/home/showdocument?id=3630
