  • This format explores the simultaneity of two parallel processes of having a conversation: one with spoken language and another one with pushing hands. The attempt is to render visible the interference between using the mind to answer the questions with language and the practice of pushing hands that does not need the mind to produce logical meanings.
Anna Nowicka is a dance maker, pedagogue and psychologist, a graduate of the Warsaw University, Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, and Ernst-Busch/HZT in Berlin. In recent years, based on her long term interest in the work on dreams, imagination and physical actions, she started developing a methodology to be applied to an artistic creation. Her focus lies on questions of imagination and creativity, and a body as a field of potentiality, in the state of constant manifestation. Her works do not follow a certain esthetics, but rather share an interest to challenge the gaze, and lead it towards the unseen and unknown. In 2011 Anna's research has been recognized, and she was rewarded a DAAD Preis, followed by the choreographic scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. In 2012 her solo “fire is raging in your hair” won the 100GRAD Festival in HAU. That year, she also received a danceWEB scholarship at the ImpulsTanz Festival in Vienna. She is currently studying at the School of Images of dr Catherine Shainberg.
